So it is currently Golden Week and Steam is having a sale.

Needless to say, it is all Japanese games on sale. Has anybody bought anything?

Personally I am buying some of the Ys games because I played and loved Ys 8. I am also looking at some of the Nep games. I played all the rebirth/mainline games but never the spinoffs, are they worth it?

I'll reply to your thread because I know how it feels when nobody replies to your thread. Make sure you do the same for somebody else user.

Dunno about those but ima check it out. Are the zero escape games decent? Better than dangan at least?

>no yakuza games on sale
>no killer is dead/dead premonition or any suda/swery for that matter
>lot of cheap RPG maker ecchi games and shitty VNs
>somehow games like rise of the tomb rider are being advertised for the sale

Kind of underwhelming desu
i don't have money to buy anything but if did i would get Dragon Quest XI, REmake 2 and maybe Catherine Classic.

Attached: 1552669053597.jpg (400x400, 34K)

no and i'm not going to, gift me some games

I’ll send you unist if you promise to learn it and put in at least 50 hr

>unist
is it like a fighting game?

Yes

>no killer is dead/dead premonition or any suda/swery for that matter

Pretty sure silver case got a discount

no way fag

Picked up Tiny Metal to get my Advance wars fix and it is kind of doing the job.

Attached: TINYMETAL.png (1600x900, 1.62M)

i would like to say yes, but im pretty busy for the next 3 weeks.

sorry user, hope you find a buddy to play your fightan games with.

Attached: 1550710634389.jpg (291x290, 19K)

Sliver case, 25th ward, and Killer7 are on sale

Is silver case actually good? 25th ward is the sequel right?

Silver Case is on my backlog but I've heard good things about it from Suda fans. But apparently you need to play Flower, Sun, and Rain before 25th Ward.

And I still want to get through all those before playing Travis Strike Again.

is it easier or harder? I've yet to hear people talk about this and I've heard mixed things about it

Fuck off Steamshill

Thanks user.

What is it like living your life paranoid that literally everything around you is the result of conspiracy theories?

How about a thread on the PSN golden week sale? I already own most of the weebshit I was interested in so I only picked up gravity rush 1 and 2, I'm enjoying myself so far.

Hey wtf unist is the only game on steam I desperately want right now. Send one to me and I'll play everyday if you're still here. Poorfag btw

lost planet 2 is on sale but everyone is saying its broken in reviews

>tripfags
>thinking xir opinion matter

Attached: 1488446042820.png (613x619, 147K)

>y`s games
Is just origins like always or there is something newer in a decent discount?

silver case is good
25th ward is too
flower, sun, rain is the game that comes in between them if you plan on playing both AT LEAST look up a plot summary of flower, sun, rain. Or emulate on DS. Or play on PS2 if you know japanese.

Attached: 1555613393975.jpg (2560x1440, 279K)

Death Mark?

Anybody played Trails in the Sky? I might get the first one for now since it’s half off.

give me a rundown of the best games

cant decide between tales of vesperia or dragon quest XI

Trails series (Sky 1,2,3 then Cold Steel)

Continuing story across all the games and series, well written and fun.

I actually come into these threads everyday hoping to get gifted unist

Attached: f391c2d5e9e2e2d7dc511c4f8ca46fe2.png (2592x2108, 1.17M)

Ys is a good choice. There's also some pretty solid shmups in the sale, like dodonpachi and crimson clover

just went through my wish list of games
what should I remove, SC?

Attached: steam sale cart 2.png (613x464, 103K)

How is Marvel vs Capcom Infinite? Worth $15?

Origin, Oath, Ark, and Chronicles are all like $5 each I am just going to grab all of them.

Already played all of the available Trails games (Sky, Crosbell, Cold Steel). I love that series which is why I am branching out into other Falcom games.

Shining Resonance is generic fantasy anime of the highest order, like it's almost impressive. That stuff makes the Tales games look like the most innovative and groundbreaking stuff you've seen. Just know that going in. It's not bad, just the jrpg equivalent of eating unseasoned chicken.

How active is unist? I'm thinking of getting it, but I don't want to spend $30 just for the game to die in a few months like a lot of fighting games on PC seem to do

Good taste my dude.

Ys is a pretty solid bet, you can start with the harder 2.5d older games or the newer ones.

Good starting points are

2.5D: Oath in Felghana
3D: Ys 7

Attached: 1445937526298.jpg (399x582, 51K)

I put I think around ten hours into trails in the sky. I liked the setting and the characters, and character customisation was alright too, but I just hated doing everything. The combat is boring as shit, you're constantly stuck fighting encounters you don't want to fight, and you don't exactly get around the map quickly either. As far as JRPGs go it's fine for a patient person I guess but I didn't have the patience for it. It would have been a great game if fighting things was fun rather than pure tedium, but you could say that about a lot of things I guess (Witcher for example).

im buying tekken 7 tonight and thats it.

Totally fair if you couldn't get into it, I do personally think the combat grows stronger as you go. Boost mode helps heaps.

If you try it again, give it a go with different Quartz equipped to your characters for different spells etc and use boost mode like mad.

The story/worldbuilding is probably its biggest strength, but you get more out of it taking your time.

>all these good sales
Holy shit. Best sale.
>$20 Tekken 7
>$3 Skullgirl
>$25 FFXV
>$20 SC6
>$5 Ray Gigant
Then there's all those underrated games that are hit or miss and you won't know until you try them.

>Atelier Arland STILL not on sale
Been waiting for this to go on sale since I got my vita two years ago
Fuck

Your all a bunch of weeaboos

no im not.,

Got DaS3 DLC and I'm having a blast. The snow area is cool as shit and the wolf behavior is the best AI I've seen in the recent years.

Is it good? Kinda want it but at the same time i don't.

Arland is already on sale when you buy the bundle.

Should I get Neptunia 1 or Disgaea 1?

Attached: X-ing.jpg (919x720, 36K)

I'll throw my hat in and say disgaea 1. Idk what neptunia play like at all though, i've never even seen a clip. I can only vouch for disgaea.

Both because they're completely different games, but have very nice character interactions in them.

>2.5D: Oath in Felghana
>3D: Ys 7
All the ys are standalone or there is some kind of overplot?

Here is my list for now, Will probably remove the ones not on sale, Any recommendation lads?

Attached: golden week sale.png (556x647, 146K)

I might finally get a Senran game to see what it's about.

bring this user back, I'm sorry I missed you

Attached: 9b4063cc80b6d95d4658320b23632aef.jpg (3461x5635, 2.29M)

Disgaea if you want a game with some VN
Neptunia if you want a VN with some game
or just get both

I bought Trillion, it's fun so far. It's an interesting hybrid of roguelike/mystery dungeon combat, visual novel sections and a dating sim. I rarely see it talked about for some reason, but I really like the incremental nature of the game and how you have so many options open at any one time with tabletop-like roll chances for your decisions. It's not for everyone but definitely underrated.

Apart from origins they share a few characters but the storylines have very little to do with each other. tl;dr of the storyline of each game you missed: adol crashes a boat somewhere, wanders around some ruins, uncovers an ancient civilizations doomsday device, shuts it down, ditches waifu to find another boat to crash

I bought a Touhou game that wasn't on sale (they never are anyways) and my friend bought me Earth Defense Force 4.1

OP here, bought the Ys games.

Playing Oath, it is great.

However, I am still wondering, what is the best Nep spinoff game?

I'm on a puzzle game kick right now.
Just grabbed the zero escape and danganropa bundles, anything else I should look out for?

Should i get SF 5 or Tekken 7? Which ist the better fighting game?

Root Double is worth checking out if you enjoy the nonary games. Choices are made on a graph system that lets you dial in how much you trust each character at any given moment. You can edit them whenever you like, and they'll affect how the MC reacts to situations (whether they'll believe a statement or risk their life for someone). Since you can dial changes in whenever you like it makes the game feel pretty dynamic as more and more secrets uncover throughout the story.

Tekken 7 100%

See pic related. It's about a response team who get sent in to deal with a meltdown at a nuclear plant, but things end up getting complicated as you dig further into the survivors and what caused the disaster. You get two stories in one as well hence double, as there's a second story set a week before that goes further into the events.

Attached: root double choice.jpg (800x450, 52K)

wanna get nioh but it's still expensive

>origins
I aint know shit about the serie but origins got a overwhelmingly positive on steam and the others are on positive\meh. Whats the reason?

I played them all on PSP/vita so I can't chip in on the port specifics, but the best IMO was either felghana or lacromosa of dana (the newest). Origins was cool too but idk, I'd prioritise the two mentioned. Celcetta, origins and 7 are one step below, with 1+2 and napishtim the most forgettable. All are solid games though.

Neat, that looks right up my alley.

Hope you enjoy. There's a decent chunk of content for the money too, it took me about as long as Virtue's Last Reward with both stories. Play after days first, as the prequel storyline will spoil certain things.

I recently played and enjoyed Steins;Gate and Chaos;Child. In the sale, I've picked up Steins;Gate 0, Danganropa 1, and 428 Shibuya Scramble.

Were those good picks, and is there anything else I should include that won't cost much more?

Also does anyone know where to get fan translations of the other science adventure VNs?

See above. Also look into the infinity series (not on steam, you'll have to look elsewhere) and Zero Escape. Not sure on a specific site, but it's pretty easy to find chaos;head pre-patched if you google around. I'm sure you're already aware of them but look into Higurashi and Umineko too if you enjoy the mystery aspect.

I feel it's a very hit or miss series honestly. I liked them but it does take a while for it to get going.

FC is 90% world building then shit hits the fan and ends on a cliffhanger until SC. Slow start and I'd say hit or miss. I love it but it's not for everyone.

Attached: Trails in the Sky promo.jpg (324x445, 30K)

Origins gives you some extra characters that play a bit differently for extra playthroughs.

SALES BAD

>send cute girls to their untimely deaths
>multiple times
Definitely not for everyone. Those heroic sacrifice moments tho

This thing turns me on.

Attached: 1541738990712.jpg (300x240, 11K)

Honestly, it took me by surprise that IF game has decent and interesting characters you can get invested with.

Attached: Perpell final stand.jpg (1920x1080, 371K)

Fegor's best

Attached: fegor.jpg (960x544, 500K)

It's £3, try it

If I liked the old Might and Magic games, will I like Labyrinth of Refrain?

sword city is cheaper and better, check that out first

>not Elma

Attached: trillion elma.png (598x950, 388K)

Why not i like to trust complete strangers. And the fact i have 1200 games on steam its nothing related.

I played with english voices and her VA was pretty bad. I can imagine her being way better in japanese.

If a game is single player, pirate it first to make sure you actually like it since most games nowadays don't have demos. Don't spend $20 on a game you're not going to touch for 6 months. You can buy it during the next sale (June or so) if you want to support it. Be smart with your money.

I can't play cutesy anime games with English dubs. They don't feel right at all and are awkward.

Attached: 20190226222342_1.jpg (1920x1080, 621K)

Why the hell trails is so good? I saw some pic it seems the usual generic jrpg but on steam it has overwhelmingly positive and its some kind of rare for jrpgs. Whats the catch?

Pretty good sale.
I have
>AC7
>Noel The Mortal Fate S1-7
>Angels of Death
>Skullgirls
>Disgaea 1
>LiEat
>Danganronpa 2
On my cart right now. Anything I should add/remove?

Attached: 1556525125843.jpg (357x434, 91K)

Is $15 reasonable for Dark Souls III? Pretty sure its just the base game

Attached: 1556075028057.jpg (224x225, 9K)

It starts out as a slice of life JRPG packed with sidequests and side things to discover. The long ramp-up time gives the characters and world building time to breathe before the events really kick into gear. It seems slow at first but it wouldn't work if they shortcutted you past the politics, history and geography of the world. The other games in the trails series all take place within a short-ish timespan (there are only a few years between them) but each takes place in a different region. You get to see the world and its events through the eyes of all sides instead of being a standard good vs evil. It takes 40-50 hours to get to the meaty part of TITS though so it's understandable if you don't have the time to stick with it.

$0 wouldn't be reasonable.

It's the best Souls game

Yeah it's pretty good, ringed city was nice too if that's available cheap.

How's that Touhou Wanderers game? Is it a decent mystery dungeon game? Are any of the DLC necessary?

>Not Levia
FTFY

Attached: levia.jpg (1366x749, 292K)

So its actually a GOOD jrpg. Im astonished im gonna buy it.

>All these people buying Trails
Makes me happy.

Attached: 1556208306623.jpg (500x683, 62K)

>Finished and enjoyed TiTS FC and SC
>Bought 3rd when it came out but never finished it
I need to go and start 3rd over again because I liked those games CS on the other hand.

I was so disappointed with cold steel. I preordered it and it was completely mediocre. It'd be passable as a budget noname RPG but coming from TITS it was a massive let down.

I bought Mushihimesama, but I don't know if it was part of the sale or just marked down anyway.

Attached: iuIQWVIU0N.jpg (1280x960, 341K)

I don't know man, sky has a lot of anime tropes as well. CS has more of it, although there are still all that shitload of NPCs and dialogue. I enjoyed it a lot, and would rank it above common jrpgs still.

The characters, pacing and dialogue took a hit compared to sky IMO. The world felt less cohesive as a result.

i got some good shit on ps4 and vita, but my hear almost skipped a beat when i saw the muramasa dlc no being recognized by my vita.

i also got ninja storm trilogy, akiba's trip and souls suspect

Attached: 106f2380b82761333d12828c473c2849.jpg (560x800, 49K)

A friendly reminder:
Do not get this game, especially if you want a Soulsborne-like.
>No lore
>No atmosphere
>No single, continuous interconnected world
>No invasion-style PvP; it has a PvP arena but it's a ghost town
>No unique weapons and equipment
>Diablo loot
>You fight the same three - four enemies the entire game
>Every level is either a japanese village, a cave or a japanese castle

Even Dark Souls 2 is a better game.

Attached: nioh-complete-edition-pc-.jpg (841x1200, 173K)

Listen to this man, BUY YS.
One of the greatest action RPG series of all time.

youtube.com/watch?v=tkDasPSBMms

Attached: 1528577247827.jpg (310x337, 20K)

(You)

Remove Ace Combat 7 and Valkyria Chronicles 4.
Both are not only inferior to their predecessors but also extremely mediocre games on their own.

Is Conception 2 any good? I wanna play a Persona like game and impregnate anime girls.

This especially sucks since the game borrows persona's relationship system. Character interactions are arguably a bigger factor in the overall quality of the game and it's one of the game's biggest problems compared to sky.

I'm not saying anything that isn't true.

Attached: niohcemetacritic_steam.jpg (1669x769, 244K)

Should I pick up Ys origin?

(You)

IMO nioh is the best souls game behind demons. You conveniently ignore the stances, skill point system that allows you to customise your moveset and abilities including the effects of parries (swap positions, push away, stun etc) which all have a big effect on your playstyle and your interactions in the world. The combat's way deeper than other souls games and combat is the core gameplay of the subgenre. Level design was just as bland in ds2/3/sekiro and it doesn't stop people praising them endlessly.

Are there any good FPS on sale?
I don't care for any of the weebshit.

maybe

Yes the pacing was a bit bad. But I still think the world was very detailed. For example, you go to Nord and eat at Gaius's place, meet his family, which has their unique culture. These details are what makes the series I think.

Lol nope; Nioh belongs to the same tier as Lords of the fallen and The surge.
The combat had potential but the dependency on loot ruins it and the level design is way, way worse than the one on your average Soulsborne game.

But... thats like my top wishlisted games.

Bought SFV and mayonetta

Trust me on this one; you're going to be bitterly disappointed.

The combat doesn't depend on loot, things just take a little longer with a weaker weapon. People have beaten all content with the basic wooden starter sword, the existence of variable stat range for equipment is just an optional longevity mechanic. It's barely a consideration in a first playthrough since you'll constantly be finding new stuff at your level and don't need to pay much attention to rarity or set building.

My only experience with JRPGs is SMT, anything in this sale that you think ill like?

emulate 2/english translation of 3 instead

Sucks for you there is nothing even resembling it.

>The combat doesn't depend on loot

>Don't farm loot
>Get oneshot by damage sponge enemies

Stop trying to deceive people, you fanboy.

I actually pirated and played AC7 and fucking love the first 5 missions that i played. Stopped and unistalled because i wanted to play the rest legit. Never tried VC4 but i do love the first one. So no i won't trust you on Ace Combat but maybe VC4

Seed of the Dead

This. Even the much maligned 2 is still a better VC game than 4.

VC4 was the worst selling game in the series for a reason.

Just bought it on psn. I'm actually liking it. Is cross-play possible? If so, teach me senpai.

VC4 is a straight upgrade of VC1

4 sold badly because it's just more of 1, and the majority of people didn't play more than a couple of hours of 1. I respect 2/3 way more since they tried to expand on the formula and risked innovation even if it didn't all hit the mark 100%. If you're specifically after more of 1 but can accept it's a small step down in quality you'll still enjoy 4 but IMO the others should be higher priority.

It's fun and very cheap. Only bit of warning I have with 2.5d ys games is that being underlevelled can make bosses into horrendous damage sponges, so if you're clobbering a boss and only seeing tiny changes in their health bar go farm a few regular enemies for a bit or upgrade your weapons.

VC4 is the DS3 of the series. Take that how you will.

I personally recommend these 2 games.
store.steampowered.com/app/851100/Touhou_Luna_Nights/
store.steampowered.com/app/994020/Tempest_of_the_Heavens_and_Earth/

They're Touhou metroidvania style games. Great sprite work and combat. Only downside is they're kind of short but what's there is worth it.

>the best game in the series that takes familiar elements and expands upon them, while adding new stuff

Do they have 2hu writing autism like all other 2hu games.

fuck

If you have the patience to learn new systems in a slower game, there's a free roguelike called demon that has a similar demon recruiting mechanic. It's fun once you get comfortable, definitely worth a try. demon.ferretdev.org/

There's touhou characters and lore. But it's more action than dialogue.

Catherine was made by Atlus too but it's not really the same thing.

I've been a fan of Ace Combat since 04 came out and 7 is literally the best game in the series. Don't listen to theses 5 babies and 0 meme spouting retards.

Cool, never heard of this before.

If you want to play Valkyria Chronicles 4 just pirate it.
The game failed so hard that Sega archived the series for good so any money you pay now is pointless.

I can't stand how there is no bundle for these games since they are really meant to be played one after the other

Attached: 1530866690539.jpg (569x629, 48K)

Played and loved 1&2, Origins and Oath in Felghana.
I see Lacrimosa is buggy as fuck but is Ark of Napish worth it?

Attached: 1541283951752.jpg (355x468, 73K)

How are Mushihimesama and Dodonpachi Resurrection?
Really? I fucking love AC 3 and 0, I was worried 7 would be high quality but bland in story. Shit like the satellite from 5 or the laser jet jousting from 0 I was worried would be lost

As far as I know Chaos;Head, the prequel to Chaos;Child, is the only fan translated SciAdv game. You can find the translated game here:
nyaa.si/view/360359

You're also going to want to apply this improvement patch:
old.reddit.com/r/steinsgate/comments/aipti1/chaoshead_pc_dipatch_25_released/

Has anyone played 428 Shibuya Scramble? It looks camp and fun and I heard it was very well received in Japan.

Napishtim is middle of the road compared to the rest of the series, but they're all really solid games. Napishtim definitely isn't a bad game and is well worth your time if you have an interest in the series. For me it's around the same quality level as 7 (I'd rank it above 1+2 but below celcetta).

one of the few Famitsu perfect score
it's fun, especially if you like visual novel and like japanese culture as in actual japanese culture and not moe shit

What should I pick up on PSN?

does it have a soundtrack at least as good as oath in felghana?

this is my early early car
I'll add throw some stuff and I just bought DMC 5

Go to 1:10, it's pretty good.

As a consumer, you have a right to be mad.

PS Plus sale price = physical price on Amazon

God wars, witch and the hundred knight bundle, utawarerumono

If you're a Soulsborne fan you should avoid Nioh.
It's not a bad game (in fact it's one of my favorite games this gen and I like it as much as the Dark Souls trilogy), but it's very different from the Souls games; in fact almost all the Souls fans dislike it.

How's Xanadu next?

Nope, maybe it's still alive on ps4

You got my attention with RayGigant
Any other recommendation?

I'm playing Zanki Zero and I've realized that I really like Dungeon Crawling.
What are some other cool non-porn DRPGs? Labyrinth of Refrain, Mary Skelter?

UNIST is your best bet for a new fighter to pick up. It's on the rise, whereas most other 2d fighting games are waning.

I've had it on my wishlist, cuz I want an Advance Wars clone, but i don't know what I think of the 3D graphics. I feel like 2D is better for this genre.

Not sale related but you can emulate the DS and 3DS Etrian games. They have loli character designs but I don't think theres anything overtly sexual.

Are either of the Rosenkreuzstilette games worth getting? They look like cheap but solid mega man clones.

Because fromfags expect every game like this to be a 1:1 copy of souls. If it isn´t a 1:1 copy it´s shit. If it is a 1:1 copy it´s still shit because it´s not made by from. It´s a faster and less clunky than souls. Also pvp isn´t really important in this game which is why it gets so much hate from elite fromfags.

Does Romancing SaGa 2 have controller buttons or do keyboard prompts show up?

7 is a bit heavy on references, which might make or break the game depending on your tastes. But you've got bighuge superweapons, ace duels sometimes with railgun flavor, a tunnel run, and delicious radio chatter so if those are what you're looking for you won't be disappointed. Also with post stall manouvers being a thing now you can git gud and do cutscene moves like a kulbit with laser on to toast ground targets while you fly over them

Shit sale, besides steam, were do you buy your games Yea Forums?
For me:
Fanatical, Nuuvem, Instant Gaming, HRK

(I don't get paid till after sale)

Paying customers is what allows piracy and PC gaming to exist. So, shut your whore mouth.

How are they, though? I know they're on sale but are the controls and hitboxes responsive? How about the level design?

how else do I play online?

I bought Fate/Extella, Undernight Inbirth Exe Late, and Melty Blood.

Also preordered Yakuza Kiwami 2, but that wasn't on sale.

Where do I start with Ys? Play in order or are there games I should skip/prioritise?

Oath and Origin are the best 2.5d ones, 8 for 3d.

it's a shit sale, nothing in my wishlist is even over 25%

I, II, VI, OiF Origin, SEVEN, Celceta, VIII

From what I can tell though it really doesn't matter what order you play them in except for Origin after 1 & 2. It just comes down to whether or not you want to play release order to experience the evolution of graphics and combat or in story order which is going down the timeline.

I got Nioh half off. Now i just need a gpu that can play it.

I really liked it when I played it on PS4. The problem is you're treating it like a Souls game when it's really not.

>4 sold badly because it's just more of 1
If anything shouldn't that be a selling point?

>but it's very different from the Souls games; in fact almost all the Souls fans dislike it.
I love Souls games and I really liked Nioh, but yeah it's not a Souls game at all. It's like a wierd combination of a stealth game and some kind of character building autism simulator.

Thanks. Do you know if that translation for chaos;head is the first release, or the updated one? I've heard people say it's not worth playing without the improvements they made in the later release.

ay wey si vas a gastar bastante, ya con Disgaea tienes para al menos unas 100 horas. Si quieres ayuda ya sea en Dark souls o disgaea mandame mensaje, mi ID es darklinkpower

>tfw I finally caved and bought killer7 last week
goddamnit I was so close to the sale why does this always happen.

Thank you, that link was just what I was looking for.

Do you need to play the original Cladun before x2? Or is it the "kinda same but bigger and better" situation?

>better combat
>more thought put into the weapon classes
>reason to farm enemies
>mission style gameplay
sounds pretty based to me, unless you’re some souls autist that screeches about the lore and can only make it 50% of the way through each game

This is a good sale. Japan is superior.

By the time you got a decent GPU you would have a chance to have Nioh at 75% off, but good job anyway

>better combat
