You should be able to easily HQ anything as long as you have the appropriate gear.

50-51 (and 60-61 and 70-71 unless they majorly change how crafting works) are shitty because of how crafting levels work, as soon as you hit 51 it becomes much easier

I wonder what the hell caused the writing to plummet in SB. Then again it wasn't a full plummet as it was goodish in the East. And I say that not as a weeb, since I wanted to like Ala Mhigo but they phoned it in so fucking half-assed. I know it's Eorzean so the differences can't be as vast as Hingashi and Azim but had you set in Thanalan or Gridania nothing would have changed. Come to think of it they kinda did a shit job on Doma compared to Azim or Hingashi too. Really missed opportunity given the richness you could run with the whole collaborators vs resistance, the repression of cultural customs, an actual tension of monarchism vs republicanism (like in Ishgard). All we got from that was a tiny bit with step-on-me-mommy and Fordola and five fucking seconds of succession government questions where they just ended up giving it to Lyse or Raubahn or whichever mhigger it was.

I'm optimistic the first shard won't be since it's getting set up to actually have meaningful differences with stuff like the dwarves as opposed to just "lol it's the same as Eorzea with a few changes like in this world Nanamo ul-Nano is selfish and hedonistic and Ilberd is a heroic leader of the remnants of Ala Mhigo.

Heavensward was written by a guy who worked on every Ivalice game with Matsuno, but he moved off XIV to work on that secret shit Yoshida is leading now. Stormblood was written by Oda. Oda writes fantastic lore, but holy shit he sucks at writing an actual story.

I had heard the Xaela writer was the DK writer which was why I figured it was above average. While I don't like how the au ra look I appreciated the adventure of going to a far off and exotic land - some weird savage custom of a big brawl to decide whose the big kahuna is a lot more fun than "yeah this village mines big rocks, but nobody's buying them since the garleans took over so go solve their economic issues or something I dunno". Oda would explain why the Azim and Hingashi worldbuilding is great and that fantastic 4 Lords narrative being cute and wuxia high adventure, but the world building lore for Ala Mhigo beyond the most bare bones of the mad king is such crap. Even their primal/beast tribe is crap compared to Suzie-o and the turtles.

Parts of SB are good, and nothing is as bad as AAR pre Garlean war (~lvl 40 or so) or 2.x excluding the crystal brave betrayal and flight to ishgard and the initial investigation into Ysale. Didnt' finish thought there. You got treated like a errand boy garbage (cue Fray) and the only people who seem to truly care about you deeply are Haurchefaunt and his father and then Aymeric. I guess vaguely Minfilia did, but pray return waking sands really ruined her character for people. To the singleplayer FF idea I'd have just made it so Nidhogg is the 2/3rd of the way through final boss and then Lahabrea followed by Thordan and the Knights are the final final boss. Though you could make Nidhogg the final boss if this hypothetical FF had no Ascians, which honestly would be the better of it.

Gridania has relevance to the plot. I am pretty sure Merlwyb has had two lines since ARR. Wait no, "Seven hells!?!" or something to that effect was what she said when Raubahn lost his arm and that was ARR. So the first time she's spoken since then was at the meeting with Der Furher Varis.

Not that I am defending Gridania that place has the worst layout of the cities while Limsa has the most convenient. Limsa is highly relevant in gameplay, just absolutely pointless in story.

Honest question. I've played XIV for 4 years now, and played many MMOs before it. I even currently play others MMOs on the side as well.

I got through Anemos, Pagos, and Pyros in about 10 days. I made sure to do at least 1 3 hour session a day in there. If you only care about 1 weapon and 1 armor set you can get through it in no time.

MGP isn't too hard if you make sure to do as many challenge log missions as you can, also show up for GATEs since they give like 4k MGP.

You can squeeze an extra 7k out of fashion if you have the increased mgp ticket thing active.

Push the red buttons until your run out of MP, then you push the blue buttons until your morale is full. Repeat.

I can't remember the exact levels but it goes from shitty, slow transpose spam to switching between with Fire 3 and Blizzard 3. You use Fire 2 at 3+ enemies. Thunder should never drop on a single target. The 50 and below rotation is only used after 60 when you've fucked up your 60+ rotation and lost enochian.

WoW doesn't even have unique boss music. Raids just play the same song all the way through.

Not an event, think of it as an extra dungeon. It's here forever so go wild with it until you feel like doing story content if you're out of roulettes for the day. A good run can take 11 minutes, average ones about 15, and where you are right now, you'll alternately do 1 or 2 runs per level.

Stop doing it at level 60, though. Get the rest from roulettes until you start doing Stormblood for it's version of PotD.

XI did technically have a more in-depth system than XIV will ever have plus the overall design made sure you always had something to do without the worry of only having 2 avenues of gear that are both locked by some weekly cap. What XIV did right is crafting but even that gets dumbed down by the fact that at cap you just rely on Macros and iLvl to keep up to date with harder recipes.

user I played FFXIV, both the trashfire that was 1.0 pre/post Yoshida and ARR to Mid-SB, and XI. Never touched WoW but even I can tell that FFXIV is just as bad as WoW. They're both stagnant games that have streamlined the experience so much that there really isn't much for exploration or socialization when compared to the days of XI where flagging up and grouping up was a common occurnce. Everything is so instanced now a days that I'm better off playing Warframe if I want to play nothing but instances with random people when my friends arent around. Honestly I need to ask why you just automatically assume anyone shitting on XIV is from WoW? Most players tend to stick to their games and rarely step out of it. BFA players are more likely to quit MMOs as a whole instead of going to XIV and the same is true for the reverse.
