-Injustice will still be on Unreal 3.5 engine they're using -Mortal Kombat 12 is in the pipeline and will be very different from any other fighting game ever made -the Krypt in MK 11 was an experiment in doing a full 3d behind the character camera for movement and environmental interactions, combat is being tested as we speak -gameplay will have a feeling similar to a mix of For Honor and The Last of Us combat -fights will be extremely brutal, and much more painful looking -fatalities still over the top, but more nasty, almost in a snuff film sort of way -full on reboot with revamped character designs and the old trilogy cast with some new characters -kombat kids may make an appearance as dlc but revamped stories(ideas so far are Cassie being Johnny's younger sister, Takeda a member of Scorpion's clan and his cousin, etc) -setting is different and meant to be more real, with futuristic elements such as the cyber ninjas linked in better, setting has a more cyberpunk feel to it -Scorpion is a cyborg ninja now, so is Sub Zero, the plot with the cyber ninjas is being changed to be some ninjas decide to fully cyberize themselves which is where the conflict comes in -shang tsung is now a chinese ceo/sorcerer of a tech company, uses his tech to communicate with Outworld/Sha Kahn

My favorite MK game is MK 2 and UMK3, favorite character is Reptile, which is why it sucked he wasn't in 11. He'll be in 12 at least. Although one of the design concepts looks like a literal komodo dragon head pasted onto a human body with no mask or anything.
Bushido Blade was real 3d because you could literally move all around and run anywhere, games like Tekken are fake 3d because you can't run around and the stages are confining.

OP here, I wasn't there for that, but I remember you guys told me about it. Creepiest incident I had was when he started asking us to brainstorm ideas for MK 12. One guy bring sup how some fans say the finishers look like torture porn now, as a complaint, and how it could be problematic. Another agrees and says how if MK 12 is gonna look close to realism that may be an issue. Boon then starts saying that's a good thing, and how he wants 12 to be realistic and extremely violent, and this his eyes just glaze over and he starts saying "Like a snuff film almost... yeah... kinda like that... like a snuff film... like snuff..." and he just walks out of the room. Considering what maxed out mk 11 looks like and next gen rumored graphics. It is possible. I played mkx this year and it looked out dated almost last gen but in higer res. I thought mk11 was designed for this gens consoles, mk 12 may be this gen but if it is designed from the ground up for an inc in hardware it may look realistic.

For fucks sakes mortal kombat from its inception has been a bunch of nerds taking ideas and content from other productions and pooling it together. They started by copying street fighter and king of fighters, they moved on to copying tekken and soul calibur.
If you go into mk11 with tekken 7, soul calibur 6, king of fighters 14 and street fighter 4 under your belt there is a large pool of content you'll recognize. The devs are all fight game fans they just cant go around talking about how stupid SF5 is for obvious reasons. Its always been a collaboration of fans of the genre trying to express what they find fun even if it leads to stupidity.
The game looks buetiful, its netcode is better than any other fgc release since the pace of the gameplay is designed around dealing with packet loss, and there sits a villain on top of tournament scene.
Personally I love the focus on defensive options in this game, when your having a serious match with someone you can FEEL when their out of recovery options and the desperation kicks in.
