What's next for us after Judgement and RGG Online? What do you guys think Yakuza 7 will be like? What would it be called?
Yakuza thread
Also, I'm doing another Yea Forums sings in relation to another Yakuza song.

How long until 2 is released on steam
Finally cracked this game open last night despite buying it at launch.
Why is it so bad? Why does everything feel like it was made with the same budget Nagoshi spends on his lunch? For something they made a big deal about when they announced it I assumed it would be much better
I don't think it's THAT bad. Kiwami 2 honestly went above my expectations. I thought how awful Y6 was, that the Dragon Engine was and is still too early in optimization. But KW2 ran better and generally is a better game in place of Y6, unfortunately Y6 still exists. As for the game itself, I feel like it was still a step up from KW1 and FotNS:LP in terms of combat and content.
im fucking hyped
Same here, user
Garbage game.
Hopefully Ishin gets westernasied. Also Id like to see another area other than fucking Kumachiro.
Long-shot guess, but:
I think the RGG team is preping to reintroduce the RGG brand and team to the new generation, this will go into how they release their games. Right now, Judgement and Yakuza look like they're going to carry out their series onwards based on previous sales and reception.
The mainline games will get remaster treatments to keep newcomers up to speed and introduce the games to a newer and bigger audience. Spin-offs and one-off games are most likely going to stay behind, like Dead Souls, Lost Paradise, and Binary Domain.
But games like Kurohyou 1/2, Ishin/Kenzan, and Judgement, have chances for more games based on their reception alone. With tech and third-party support across so many platforms, I don't see why we can't have a Black Panther Kiwami for the Switch using the Kiwami Engine. Not a bad idea, right?
Hell, just remake these spin-offs all in newer and beefier Kiwami and Dragon engines for current and next-gen platforms. They'd be racking in so much dough despite all the asset reuses and lack of wasting resources. Then all spare time and energy can go into mainline Yakuza titles.
Is he one of us?
He "died" a virgin, so yeah.
why haven't you joined a crime family Yea Forums?
We already know what Yakuza 7 is going to be like: the complete polar opposite of Kiryu
>Playing as a cocky nigger
Honestly, I'm hyped
>RGG Online
What's that?
Real pic? If so, that's amazing
I bought kiwami 2 on ps4 about a week ago, because my PC might not be able to handle it. Game's pretty awesome. There's a lot to do there, but the main story quest feels rather short. Apart from that the game's great.
There is no reason to remake Ishin as it is literally the skeleton for 0 and Kiwami. Kenzan would probably need a Kiwami because of all the various gameplay issues, the disgusting amount of missables, and for balancing purposes, not to mention they'd be able to cut out loading zones for all the areas if they do it since there's a lot of them. BP1 and 2 definitely need a Kiwami though, they're not bad games or anything and are totally playable as they are, but it would be nice to see multiple styles being able to be assigned when you feel like it, BP1 gaining the skill system from BP2, having more quality of life enhancements for BP1, cutting down on the grinding by a ridiculous amount, making a seamless Kamurocho instead of the fixed camera angle one due to limitations, etc.
F2P mobile game that is basically a prequel story for Ichiban (But apparently the story is going to deviate from what the actual game is doing or something?) It's basically a prequel story though.
Mobile game, dont worry about it
Ichiban isn’t black, he’s just tanned you mutt
I thought it was implied that he's a hafu? Not specifically black though
I don't remember that being implied anywhere though people here keep saying it
did BP ever got a english patch
Nope. BP1 is still in that phase where no one knows what the hell is going on. The main story is apparently finished thanks to KHH and they're supposedly working on substories, but they never got a hacker to help them fix their issues (At least, from what I recall seeing a couple months back) with regards to fonts, text spacing, things like that so all the stuff doesn't really fit properly. Who knows what's going on with that situation nowadays, the GBATemp thread is essentially dead as well.
BP2 supposedly had a menu patch years and years and years ago but the only link I found to it didn't have the patch at all, just the game itself because the patch was in some Adfly link that was dead due to inactivity. It's not like the menus are hard to navigate though.
You don't need to know Japanese to play them though, the Japanese walkthroughs are incredibly helpful and it only really gets iffy if you want to fight Gaia or Chaos because there's things that can go wrong (The Sumo Wrestling substory to unlock the style in BP2 can break if you get the e-mail at the wrong time preventing you from getting the substory just as a quick example).
thats a shame after 0 and kiwami BP was the one im more interested in
Well, you won't really be able to understand the story but if you want to give it a go you can try using this guide I slapped together to piece things together. Like I said, the Japanese guides translate well enough to follow them and you can enjoy the gameplay for what it is. Still in the middle of BP2 though, just got to chapter 5 so that guide's still a WIP.
One thing to note though, if you're going to play it on PPSSPP and not a PSP you have to make sure the texture resolution is no higher than 2x or 3x because it really messes up how everything looks. Things get off-colored which never happens on the PSP, you have attacks causing tons of weird effects that don't happen on PSP, loading screens can get stuck on your pause screen for some reason, and if you savestate it only gets worse.
Just to add to this, picture related is also an issue with PPSSPP, for some reason people and cars appear through walls, Tatsuya will sit behind a counter in-game but his body will appear like it's visible through the wall, same deal with restaurant and store owners, etc. You also get people with toothpick legs if they're a map away from you and it looks really freaky because you don't ever see that on the PSP.
thanks better dust off my old psp then
PLEASE HELP ME!
In one of the Yakuza games, either 0, K1 or K2, there's a part where Kiryu says "rank up". Can someone please tell me where it is. It's been stuck in my head the past few days and its really bothering me
It's bizarre how awful it is. It's like the game was made alongside 3. Such a shame since it had so much potential.
i played the demonand it seemed good to me
but again this is Yea Forums where 0 is the best game ever made while i found Kiwami 2 to be a shitton better so who cares
Sounds like it might be golf in K2 or possible Clan Creator when you upgrade someone? I don't think darts does that, batting doesn't rank you up, catfight doesn't nor does Mesuking, pocket circuit doesn't, I don't recall Four Shine having rank ups even going into Fever Time, and the rest of the minor minigames I can't recall them having that. I would guess Clan Creator in K2 if I had to.
>What would it be called?
It's literally called ShinRGG.
youtube.com
Personally can't wait. I was bored of Kiryu since 3, and I think Nishiki's VA did amazing work in 0 and K1.
>mix of Kiryu and Nishiki
I'm hype.
Is anyone else worried that they won't like Ichiban? I feel like the reason why I play these games is because I get invested in characters rather than the main plots, since the plots are usually pretty bad. I haven't seen a Japanese team write a single "cocky badass" character that actually came off as likable rather than irritating.
see
What's not to like?
Anything is better than wooden Kiryu.
is yakuza 0 a good starting point for the series for someone that's never played any yakuza games?
Yeah
>I haven't seen a Japanese team write a single "cocky badass" character that actually came off as likable rather than irritating.
You did play Akiyama, right? That was basically him, Ichiban is supposed to be a bit more cocky and full of himself than Akiyama was.
If you want. Just remember that if you play it you're going to be hopping around different games of various levels of quality and polish if you're following along with the story because 0 is the 9th/11th game in the series and 3 is the 4th game in the series. Ideally you should start with Y1 on PS2, but that's not for everyone.
>his tattoo is a karp turning into dragon
>wooden Kiryu
I don't think Kiryu being wooden is necessarily a bad thing. The tone of the game often works because there's a straight man to act as a foil; some of the more over-the-top substories in the later games, for example, wouldn't be as funny if Kiryu wasn't deadpanning through them.
Best is playing in release order like a chad, but 0 is probably the next best thing.
Yeah, I played through Yakuza 4 pretty recently, actually. Akiyama is cocky but I feel like his character is grounded by the fact that he's a civilian and has Hana.
why do Yea Forums posters keep saying yakuza 6 is bad
bought it last week after a Y4 plat and I'm loving it, literally spent 10 minutes at the Kamurocho introductory part walking around in first person mode. The combat is kinda meh but overall it's fresh and great.
Man, the Yakuza games really got me interested in visiting a hostess club.
Have any of you been yourselves? What was it like?
Nah, I usually just visit your mom.
>Have any of you been yourselves?
hahah cool joke user.
I appreciate that. She doesn't see too many people nowadays.
I wouldn't, playing 0 first will make the others be disappointing.
Please do not lewd Haruka
I've been to Japan, and I visited and English speaking one. I managed to smash the girl I was speaking to the following night after a few hours of drinking. It's a waste of money otherwise.
I love being white/asian.
NO
He's still pretty cocky and sarcastic and he's quite rude to a lot of the people he meets. He definitely is a very friendly and nice guy when it comes down to it though so it's probably not completely comparable, but Akiyama is more or less what I'm expecting from Ichiban, just more brash and an asshole. Akiyama + Tatsuya is what I'm envisioning.
It's mainly because it's a huge drop in player-freedom when it comes to variety in fights and they don't really have anyone but Akiyama and Date in Kiryu's sendoff game. If you're coming off of something like 5 or 0 into it you lose a bunch of Heat Actions including ones that have been there from the start, DoD is now an amalgamation of 0 and K1's styles, and the movement is something you have to get used to.
I liked it as well but people's complaints at least make sense with those points. I don't really get the hate for the story though, I mean, it was actually one of the most grounded in ages without any real crazy conspiracies or anything. The actual Secret of Onomichi is a bit out there, sure, and Iwami is one of the worst final bosses rivaling Kenzan's one, but overall it was an enjoyable story with a bunch of nice new characters. Hell, they even managed to make Yuta quite likable by the end thanks to Kiryu.
Haruka is unsalvageable though, I still can't believe what she did in 5.
I wish I had an appropriate reaction image for this (You) but all I have are smiling Kiryus
to people who have played Judgement demo, is it true that it's not as clunky anymore?
here
You got 7 fucking 100 hour games with the same characters (not including spinoffs and remakes) and almost everyone is guaranteed to have cameos anyway, and you're worried because Yakuza might finally, FINALLY be doing something a little different?
Compared to 6 and K2 it's improved a lot. Enemies don't block as much like in the other two games (Where you bounce off of them), instead that's relegated to certain types of enemies and bosses now. The rest of the enemies block like in the previous games where you just hit up against their guard and nothing happens instead. Wall running, sliding over and jump over enemies, and style switching to juggle enemies feels pretty nice, the only complaint I have with the gameplay is that even with all the speed upgrades (I have them in this webm) and animation cancelling via dodge roll your finisher attacks (The triangle attacks) or when you end a square combo with a square attack it leaves you wide open for about half a second to a second before you can regain any sort of movement.
If you want any examples of improvements I can go record a webm for you, I still have it downloaded. I have most of the upgrades, all speed upgrades, dodge roll animation cancel, and a couple more moves. I don't have much into the Ultimate Heat stuff though.
They're memeing. people keep saying he's black because of his hair and the fact he doesn't have a dad.
gematsu.com
How did you people miss this?
Different user, but how are the side stories and mini games?
still looks so dated jesus christ
We didn't miss it. It just wasn't that interesting.
No you literally missed it. It's what OP is asking.
The few minigames in the demo are alright. Baseball is more lenient, darts is the same, you can't do drone racing or VR Salon, you can't enter the Club Segas meaning none of the arcade games or Kamuro of the Dead, mahjong at all three parlors is locked off, shogi seems like moves are calculated a bit faster, pinball is in the office but you can't play it, and that's more or less it that you can play.
I hadn't encountered any substories. There's some friendships I got but the only ones I could understand was a guy who retired from baseball who was willing to sell Yagami some gloves and the golden baseball bat (Which makes baseball hilariously trivial because it's like if you had the blue baseball bat from K2 with no penalties), and this nice old lady who would cook food for Yagami. There's also the one steak restaurant which has guys harassing him, Kanrai's guy wants you to test out his food I think it was, Kyushu #1 Ramen was something about an apprentice (I might be confusing this with BP2), and this one girl at Smile Burger likes Yagami so she took a picture with him.
What new features would you guys like to see in Shin? Personally I just want to be able to display my claw machine prizes in my hideouts.
bring back disco from 0
I have autism so the main appeal for me with these games is repeating tasks. I don't really want them to change.
fuck judgement just give me ichiban already
the guy in judgement is ugly as fuck
actually would be cool if he's the new date
>actually would be cool if he's the new date
They want him to be a new MC of a spinoff (Sort of like how they did Tatsuya), not a side character so him being the Date would be a bit odd. Hopefully he makes a cameo though.
1 week brehs
cross cameo would be cool
like he he came at Ichiban's time of need and u play him
should I finish the estate shit or just complete the final mission and continue with kiwami?
it takes FOREVER to do this
I don't mind it
So I frequently see people say 0 is better than Kiwami 1 and that you should start with 0 because Kiwami is an expansion or sequel in terms of content and gameplay but I played Kiwami first and then played 0 and I was really happy I did. 0 is better so if you play it first I can see why Kiwami would be disappointing but if you play them in the order I did then Kiwami is like a taste of the much superior game you get to play after.
>should I finish the estate shit
yes you get dragon style for that
I guess it's because of the new engine but I'm a faggot so I'll still get it
and for a demo it was better than 6
I hope Shin is like this
Only if you want DoD. It's a fun style though it's nerfed from its previous appearances. Make sure you beat Shakedown and then just have MJ invest into virtually everything. You do have all the upgrades for it from Bob, right? Majima's are pointless but Kiryu's are pretty much mandatory.
>I played Kiwami first and then played 0
Really the only thing you miss out on if you play them in this order is the whole Nishiki/Reina character arc but then again he's just a much worse character in Kiwami and seeing him go from his Y0 self to some dumb anime bullcrap in Y1 is disheartening.
So yeah, you did the right thing.
We knew about it since FONS game was announced and that was long time ago.
Yakuza 0 real estate sidequest
Jesus Christ the interactions look like utter shit, is it too much to ask for them to work on proper collision and whatnot?
It's not exactly the best example because Mr. "Get out of my grab and you auto-taunt" grabbed me at the start. I just use it as a gameplay example because it shows off style switching allowing for mid-air combos and chapter 1 only has three enemy encounters so you can't get a great gameplay demonstration. Here's one I recorded quickly just now, enemy encounters aren't as common as in the other games (Though I imagine the later chapters will increase it). I forgot but you can also run forever and you only have to tap R2 or hold X for one second to do it until you come to a full stop.
The fact the producer says he wants the new game to be very different is exciting to me, I hope he actually means it. I want Yakuza to be ambitious
>Foreigner: Where is the bathroom?
>Yagami: It's outside of this cafe.
>Foreigner: OK. Thank you for the kind thoughts.
Who knew the bathroom could be filled with kind thoughts?
Here, two more gameplay demonstrations. It's not easy to get a (mostly) clean fight since someone is either grabbing at you or you're sometimes bouncing off of guys during combos. This one should at least demonstrate the old way of enemies guarding is still there instead of the bouncing guard, but the bouncing guard from 6 and K2 is still obviously around on everyone. The enemies that usually abuse it are some of the higher tier guys, the ones that are lower tier and don't attack you as much seem to have the glass-shatter type of guard with the occasional bounce here and there.
Also, yes, the grabbing taunt guy is here again, however he only appears in about one of every four or so fights so his annoyance isn't always around. It isn't Kenzan sumo wrestler tier.
One of you fuckers keeps bumping this shit.
Fuck off.
and here's the other. Enemies with weapons seem to bounce you off way more and are also more aggressive in general. Overall it's much better than what 6 and K2 brought to the table but it still needs some work which, hopefully, Shin will address. I still have no understanding why they keep using the dumb bouncing guard system since it just kills all fight momentum and leaves you wide open.
>being mad about videogame discussion
Fuck off
If you're upset about Yakuza games being too difficult for you, remember that you can pause during fights and use as many healing items as you want. It's practically infinite.
Still having trouble? You can spam attacks until you win against bosses, and in most fights enemies don't do much, they mostly wait to be attacked.
