>Epic Games is in the process of acquiring Rocket League developer Psyonix, the companies announced today.
>In a Q&A on the Rocket League website, Psyonix states that the gameplay won't be changing—not that I'd expect it to because of the acquisition—but that the new ownership should bolster the competitive scene with new resources for esports events.
>Psyonix will stay in its San Diego studio, where it currently employs 132 people. The developer has a history of working with Epic—as the press release mentions, it worked on the Gears of War and Unreal Tournament series—so perhaps this shouldn't come as a surprise. (I'm a little surprised!)
I'm honestly actually impressed at this point just to see how far they'll go. Will we live in a timeline where Epic buys off CSGO and Dota 2 from valve? TF2 maybe?
Josiah Scott
Today, paying customers learned a valuable lesson. Join the winning team.
The funny thing about this? If Valve did it, Yea Forums would celebrate it as a smart move - which just proves that Yea Forums is just full of unabashed Steam dick suckers
Does Fortnite even make so much money for them to be so blatantly moneyhatting? They keep denying that they're getting money from their Chinese overlords, but the absurd way they're just throwing money around suggests otherwise.

Of course Tencent is funding this. China just sees another market they need to dominate.

>Reminder that this is the same thing Blizzard said when Activision came around knocking on their doorstep.
But it was good for Blizzard? Hello?
Brandon Anderson
So exactly my question of whether you're asking what would happen if Epic bought out every single game release for the next five years? I mean, Valve headquarters could burn to the ground, all the infrastructure could be destroyed and the entire staff executed in a freak accident. It could happen.
Brody Russell
Fortnite (still) makes them boatloads of money but its on the decline so I assume they are scrambling to find some other income stream. Their site traffic and rankings are far down, if I recall correctly they reported a 48% drop in revenues from December to February
Last I heard it stagnated, people were getting mad at Psyonix for being jews, and everyone was wondering when f2p was going to happen. Esports was still doing fine but this move from epic probably means that Rocket League will go the way of Fortnite.
I don't know how it will pan out but this was the only avenue the game had left to further grow. Which makes me wonder if there's going to be a Fortnite/Rocket League crossover event in the future. Actually I won't wonder. I'm convinced it will actually happen.

It's amazing that people actually think Steam hasn't had any competition It exists but they're all shittier than Steam and devs CHOOSE to use Steam
Landon Moore
What competition? All i can think of is GoG, reminder steam key resellers do not count
Aiden White
ironic
Connor Powell
Why don't they count valve doesn't make any money off of 3rd party steam keys, it's 100% the dev or the seller, any dev can generate as much as possible this is what RWS did when they gave away thousands of postal 3 keys

Paradox and Stardock used to run their own game stores, which were full fledged launchers and clients like Epic's. Stardock's was bought by Gamestop IIRC and quickly became irrelevant.
Michael Kelly
What does this actually mean for people who purchased it on Steam? I don't think I've seen a game go exclusive this long after it was released.
Anthony Brooks
They'll still have it, you just can't buy it now
Jonathan Morgan
>English wanna know how i know you used the spellchecker?

>reminder steam key resellers do not count Why not? Anyways, Impulse, Direct2Drive, GameTap, Games for Windows LIVE, DotEmu, Desura, etc.
Parker Martin
probably nothing. Epic will probably let RL stay on Steam for the sake of its existing pc audience. I speculate that Epic will have some sort of incentive in place for customers to prefer buying it off their platform. Either a huge lump sum of in-game currency, or discounts on all future dlc-events
Logan Brown
>future dlc-events Fortnite tie-ins. Thanos in Rocket League.
Anthony Thompson
kek love it.
Anthony Fisher
The real news is Psyonix must have a crazy interesting E-Sports property baking or else Epic wouldn't care.
Thomas Myers
The incentive is the Chinese government eventually taking control of everything electronic on earth.
I capitalized it because I care about it and it's a proper verb Nigger. I know you learned it as a second language but the English language is a fuck show with made up rules that aren't followed like I before E except after C or using An instead of A before a word that starts with a vowel except for some reason when referring to Abe Lincoln he was "an honest man". English is a language rooted in freedom bitch.
these kids ever took remedial college math, they never learned voting theory or what veto power is, can't expect them to get any smarter their parents let them install epic games store dispite all the Chinese spyware memes (or truth) I remember my mom buring my yugioh cards because of a thing she saw on TV saying it was satanic. Parents suck ass now that's why they give their kids HRT and my father would've given me an ass whooping or a atleast a good talking to if I ever said some faggot shit
Grayson Rogers
English is a verb now? It's okay man, not everyone has to be smart. I'm sure you're like really good looking or funny or charismatic or something, maybe you're good at cooking idk. As an american you do have the freedom to be thick as pig shit tho, as you're so kindly demonstrating.
Daniel Cook
That's the weird thing. Do people seriously not understand that 45+ percent is functionally control of a company? Especially at 48%. All Tencent have to do is find someone with more than 2% or just a couple of random common investors and boom, majority control. And it's not like it's rare for a Chinese company to hide the fact that they have majority control through shell companies and subsidiaries.
Luke Young
My apologizes proper noun, Nigger
Jonathan Gray
they're keeping it on steam too
all they did was acquire the company
so much outrage when it's literally nothing in this case
Carter Reed
>My apologizes
Ethan Jenkins
Why does that matter? The effect on consumer choice is the same - the only difference is that in one case the developer is directly benefiting from the exclusivity, and in the other they aren't.
Owen Ramirez
it will still be available on steam the exclusivity is fake news
Hudson Rogers
Unironically this. The one thing I've taken from this whole epic thing is that this industry deserves none of my paycheck. They couldn't give less of a fuck about me, and at times are even openly hostile.
Why the fuck should I continue to give them money if this is the shit they're going to pull? All my goodwill has been used up.
Xavier Harris

Also what the fuck is smart about proper grammar my ass knew what spell check was in the year 2000, it's like knowing how to write cursive (I can do it tho its useless because only old people can read it) or long dividing when the pocket calculator exists, I failed all the spelling bee tests because I didn't want to have to study for some faggot ass extra circular activity. Tell me, what's the brand of underwear you have on, I know you can see the tag on your forhead. Gammaer nazis added nothing to the Zeitgeist in 2009 and they are still adding nothing to the world in 2019, go back to your moms basement man
Austin Price
I actually wonder if there's a worse industry than gaming where the production side literally hate the consumers. I mean anything profitable will have apathy, abuse and exploitation but gaming has to be one of the only markets where a big shot is genuinely thinking "God, I wish the people who give me their money would just fucking die"
>WE ARE JOINING THE [CORPORATENAME] FAMILY AND WE ARE VERY EXCITED

Y'all mother fuckers would've asked for a source if you were around on Dec 8th 1941 I swear, look at epic games track record, they gonna milk some more sales then the game will be gone, they own the bitch now and they already have taken games they don't even own off of steam
Nolan Wilson
I honestly don’t get why PC players make a big deal about another launcher that needs to be installed on their PC, its not like they need to buy a second PC just to play the games, just don’t have it to auto launch and exit it out when you’re done playing the game. But this is coming from a console player so idk what I’m missing about this whole deal.
They actually announced it, then kinda-sorta backpedaled it.
Gavin Harris
nah, they wouldn't be THAT stupid
Ian Thompson
Oh no I mispelled grammar, I guess I lost this one
Bentley Rivera
I honestly don't care. I just hope their new game will be fun and as polished as RL. Psyonix has probably the best implementation of UE in the entire game industry outside Epic because they worked for them when Psyonix first started. I have 4000 hs in Rocket League and I never bought the whole esports bullshit. They've funded the prizes for literally every major competition, even Dreamhack or the TV tournament. It's just some sort of Ponzi scheme hoping the game will grow along with the esports scene, but it will die when Psyonix stops funding the tournaments.
then epicshills can't use their "muh competition" excuse anymore because it'll literally be one big monopoly
Xavier Rodriguez
No gaming is pretty unique, if Nike or whoever sold some old man a incomplete set of golf clubs and he complained they would be like "we're so sorry sir, we'll issue you a refund and send you a whole complete set, you can keep the others too" vs the gaming way "oh my God all you golfers are so fucking entitled don't you ready have a a sand wedge!"
Sebastian Cook
surely the US has some safeguards against this so china won't just buy the entire US
James Miller
So would epic even be allowed to buy out multiple game studios and then pull all their games out of steam?
Is that even legal? Wouldn't they become the actual monopoly they were "fighting"?
Adrian Campbell
Gamers are called consumers not customers by the industry.
Grayson Ortiz
I wonder if any big DLC's come to the game, would people who bought it on steam literally be unable to purchase them? Pretty ignorant on RL so I don't know if it's only cosmetics or if cars have different stats.
Jacob Scott
but it's okay when LORD GABEN does it, didn't you get the memo?
Jayden James
nah it would be two monopolies fighting each other
Jacob Perez
Shut up pcbro, only steam can have a monopoly. Thats what Tim Sweeney told me!
Hunter Harris
Most people use other launchers than steam, origin, GOG, Etc. People don't like Epic because they've been a store for 6 months and they are getting near games for windows live levels of asshole
Hudson Cooper
>two monopolies
Juan Russell
damn you're right
but no like yeah valve has treated us well but people calling all of epic's actions anti-consumer should actually understand what that word means
Mason Howard
>make millions and millions off a brilliant indie game >become an esport flash in the pan >make further millions off cosmetic DLC >balloon to ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY TWO EMPLOYEES >have absolutely nothing to show for it >sell out fuck epic and fuck psyonix
dude the company's owned by tencent. that company literally fucking controls social media in china more than the goddamn government does. this is chump change to them.
Connor Cruz
>A newcomer to the block sets a new standard for competition that fucks the consumers over >why are people mad
Just one example, in most of the world they're games are more expensive due to lack of regional pricing. Maybe if the games weren't exclusive they'd have to, you know, be competitive and introduce regional pricing to match steams prices.
Buying exclusivity is literally a way to make sure you don't have to be competitive in any way valuable the consumer.
Brody Bailey
Pls seed border walls 3 in Sept.
Noah Brown
Anti-Consumer means a practice or product that hurts or goes against the will of the person using the good or service. Epic games paying to lock games to their store is just like the consoles, consoles are anti consumer, imagine if you had to buy a box for 400$ to run your Netflix subscription off of, that's the consoles and that's what epic wants to do with PC, this was tried with GFWL and look at where we are now Halo MCC is coming to steam and not epic
Matthew Roberts
>everybody trying their hardest to stop pirates >all they can do is fuck over buyfags OHNONONONO
>Faggors accuse Valve of a PC monopoly because EPIC GAMES SAID SO >Epic games starts running around and yanking exclusivity rights and taking stuff off of other stores How can people seriously not call Epic out for this shit? Im not saying Valve are a faultless company but this feels like Epic is calling Valve thieves while their own arm is elbow deep in the cookie jar.
Isaac Sanchez
isn't steam free to offer a counter deal to the developers (read: compete) also, you have to download a new launcher, that's hardly getting "fucked over", quit being dramatic
Aiden Williams
>giving gearbox money
The retard choice
Chase Morales
Gamers are the worst consumers so it makes sense. Nobody in any other industry would complain like this, they are going to a store that gives them 88% instead of 70% and it's not blocked by subscription or hardware. People are throwing fits over something normal no wonder why they don't care about someone who is filled with such hate.
I don't care that much about the exclusive shit, it's just a really fucking bad launcher. I couldn't even preload on it when I got Metro Exodus, and games don't show up in your library at all if they aren't released yet so it looks like the launcher just ate your cd key. They literally have the most featureless trash launcher on the market right now. Also Tim Sweeney is a total fuckwit
Colton Morris
My dad gets in fights with people on Corvette forums all the time, so many people are against the Mid-Engine redesign of the C8, we personally like it because there wasn't enough ass weight on the C7 it bottomed out too easily, the weight of the motor will improve the track times, toxicity is everywhere on then internet thanks to anonymity, gamers are not that unique the only part that's unique is how much of an ass fucking they let their industry get away with
Lucas Wright
yeah I just meant two large companies with a majority of the marketshare
Henry Lee
steam has been called a monopoly for years, developers want alternatives with lower fees, such as itch.io but it didn't really take off
Levi Anderson
Epic games store costs $0
Aaron Phillips
tim sweeney is just another "enlightened" sociopath like steve jobs
Nathan Brooks
Then why aren't devs jumping to Discord's 10/90 instead?
Lucas Torres
They already did, if your game makes 10million you get 90% of the revenue beating epic, I get why indie devs go I don't get why borderlands went unless randy knew it was gonna be shit or Tencet footed a shit load of money
Its funny how epic supporters have to ignore facts to have an argument
Gavin Brown
>but there's got to be some huge incentive for epic to throw this much money away on such a high risk venture Because they've got stupid amounts of money that otherwise isn't doing anything thanks to Fortnite and Unreal Engine. When you've got money to burn high-risk ventures are worth it.
Christopher Wilson
Will the steam versions still be getting updates and support?
Brandon Butler
How good is the Epic regional pricing? Steam always gives me half the price that my Burgerstani friends pay for, even the 3As.
Connor Mitchell
definitely, I'm not one bit surprised that his employees are treated like livestock
Jordan Ramirez
>Tencet footed a shit load of money this
Justin James
>implying it wouldn't be the exact opposite.
valve should buy them and then fire them one by one for the lulz
Asher Hill
The 500mbs of ram it wastes running in the background costs like 7$ man
Henry White
>THE CHINKWARE IS FREE JUST DOWNLOAD IT ENTITLED GAMER SCUM Give it a rest Xang
Cool, they fixed a problem that should never have been a problem in todays market.
Should I go on about the other issues they have, like the shitty account security, lack of reviews, lack of a workshop, etc?
Kayden Diaz
how did I ignore any facts
Joshua Evans
devs have gone on there but for something to go exclusive the store would have to be worth it. Most big games have their own store that probably gets more users and is worth going on but they see Epics cut + userbase worthy of sharing exclusivity. Division 2 is an example of this.
Isaiah Gomez
>guys it costs $0 dollars, whats the matter? >ignoring all the issues people bring up regarding the store that are an issue regardless of entry cost
Oliver Parker
conveniently ignoring this reply i don't expect an answer from an obvious shitposter but if you do reply please don't move the goalposts buddy
Eli Nguyen
it's a new launcher that while does have a dissappointing lack of features, it's not had the decade plus advantage steam has had of work on it
David Myers
>but they see Epics cut + userbase worthy of sharing exclusivity I think you mean they see epic's big fat check that they wave in front of them.
It was never about the revenue cut.
Blake Hall
So they are fixing your issues and plan to work on all those things you say it lacks why are you complaining? They launched it early so they can work on getting a game library while they work on the store over the years it makes sense.
Jaxson Edwards
>equating solipsism to egocentricity
How do you know enough to know basically what solipsism is but not enough to not be fucking retarded? Also, I can almost guarantee that you could not find a single metaphysically solipsistic tranny in the entire world.
Lucas Williams
Bad the games have tended to only sometimes be 5$ cheaper in America, some euro countries had to pay more than the steam versions
Liam Sanchez
such as?
Camden Barnes
It's multiple factors and the rev cut is one of them. If Epic took 90% of the rev I doubt they would take the deal.
Samuel Wilson
I know a lot of really smart idiots,it's a surprisingly common thing
Easton Williams
>have fortnite money >can't make a launcher better than GOG's >"we'll fix it, we PWOMISE"
Christopher Young
1. The launcher has been around since 2015 and even then its unacceptable to be in the state it is if they only released it in 2019
2. They're not going to match steam in features, not even close. We already know forums are a flat no and other useful stuff like the controller remapping and Linux support they can't even hope to match steam in. Before you say "buh zoom zoom want forum" the last 3 games I played all had issues that were fixed by mods posted solely on the steam discussion boards.
Jacob Edwards
No its the check, the rev split is irrelevant when you account for steams larger install base (most fortniters are on the consoles) they just have no faith in their games as I do not either
Josiah Edwards
Then they should have put some of those fornite bucks into it before releasing it. What is it with you tards and licking boots constantly?
I don't give a shit about the devs cut, I dont care if epic "hasn't had enough time to have basic features", which is bs excuse for a company as big as epic to begin with. Its a shittier situation for me, so I'm not happy with it. The excuses dont do me fuck all.
I hadn't heard they have gotten regional pricing. That aside, there's still plenty of reasons to hate epic. The exclusivity shit is reason enough to want them to tank.
They've single-handily taken the most consumer friendly platform and tried to make it the least. Fuck them for that alone.
I'm not sourcing you for shit thats in this thread. Open your eyes chink and read the thread.
Jack James
Imagine being pirate and never ever try the best games like GoW only because you are fucking pirate
Tim sweeney literally said forums won't happen. This is the second epic shill today I've encountered that for some reason doesn't believe things when they're written in black and white.
you don't beat steam by doing the exact same shit as them, you have to be different and innovative
and plus like steam forums were remotely useful past 2010
Grayson Jones
Why would you use an inferior service that was launched incomplete, with the promise of "we will fix it" do you think the iPhone would've been successful in 2007 if they told everyone they "might" add the phone app later
Colton Bennett
You can complain whatever you want, the damage is already done there is nothing you can do about it
Deal with it
Matthew Hall
gabe's net worth is always based off of an offer EA made for steam. it's a private company that has never had outside investors, nobody really knows much about how much gabe or even steam makes.
Matthew Clark
Are you fucks really this goddamn gullible? >but what if its serious? who gives a shit, Steam will never go away, but those (You)s are still coming
Out of the 125 million steam users we asked 50000 of them and 15000 said they may pirate a game. Hows that not racist? Those fuckers don't speak for me
Nathan Anderson
you must be brimming with pride
Blake Thompson
>you can pay for this >or you can have it for free >wow wtf dude why did you take it for free
use the money you save on PC gaymes to buy a console, then pirate games on that too

thats an oligopoly

>devs will decide who wins >we want include basic features if devs dont want them >there entire concept of competition is removing consumer choice >not anti consumer
No friend, you're stupid. Or a shill.
>Review bombing isnt a problem to begin with. >implying this is anywhere near the level of security issues epic has had >Not work shop integration
Ah yes, the great innovation of not having a fucking shopping cart. Really think outside the box there.
Remember when epic released axiom verge and people had to go to the steam forums for fixes?
Anthony White
>steam finally gets a competent competitor >NOooOoO it wasn’t supposed to be like this! ahahaha the absolute state of pcbros

12 threads 500+ bump limit today alone. Get fucked kiddo >b-b-but you're pathetic! Says the guy falling for them WHILE IM STILL BAITING
By your own retarded logic you shouldn't have that console either son, PSN gets hacked like once a month, also let's not forget about the 80 million soccer moms identities they were stolen thanks to epic games store launching incomplete
Angel King
>muh valve
Aaron Flores
thats exactly the amount of money i will give them
Cameron Stewart
its like having everything related to yourself only on youtube its fucking retarded and once that platform gets fucked you have nothing to fall back on you make sure you have your own forums
Tyler Turner
Okay, so what does EGS do that's innovative? And you can't say the 12% cut, Humble Bundle takes even less.
Adrian Nelson
>implying this is anywhere near the level of security issues epic has had yes, they've had 0
Jason Gomez
i don't have a console...
Robert Ortiz
You can pay for bread and butter or you can take it free. Why IRL you never take it free? Ahw, ofcours, because of punishment. That's why we NEED law that will punish pirates for stealing.
Taking bread in shop for free = stealing and it is punishable Taking games for free = stealing and you are doing this ONLY because it is not punishable yet
>made an epic account years ago to fuck around with unreal engine >fartnite comes out >literally thousands of emails reporting repeated login attempts from asia >despite this, account was never locked or anything
Thats far worse than a security breach, thats lacking a basic security feature. Kind of like their entire shitty store, lacking.
Isaiah Cook
Then why do you defend Anti-Consumer practices like exclusivity, like a console peasant? Let me guess you "joined the masterrace" in 2015
Aaron Martin
it's kind of nice to have everything in one tidy place. having multiple accounts, multiple launchers is a resource risk, becomes a security risk, etc. Keep in mind Epic Games somehow allowed a significant amount of accounts to get hacked. Hell even mine was 'accessed' by someone from China and it was a uniquely generated password. It definitely wasn't something they could dictionary attack at the login screen. They would have needed access to the database to get it, which means there was a breach that Epic didn't report.
Jason Powell
Fuck thieves. I really hate these anti-social peoples. They are the reason why our society is not perfect
fuck steam owned by jews and fuck epic owned by chinks

No. But playing the game without paying for it IS a crime
Colton Foster
Corporate espionage vro, Chinaman good roaches
Bentley Ramirez
With Epic combined with Denuvo, I don't think I've paid for a game in over a year
Isaac Nguyen
good thing I didn't buy the game
Kevin Morgan
By next year Epic are going to become such a viable platform for gaming that most people won't even install steam on a fresh build and when it pops up on your current PC you'll think "oh. THAT piece of garbage" before you close it and yet again forget to remove it from your open at start-up.
The only way anyone could attack steam without looking like a shill is if they advocated for GOG, but they don't, they advocate for the most malicious party in the equation, exposing shill status.
If you want me to believe you aren't shills start giving GOG a shout out because otherwise it's just not convincing.
No laws are the reason our society is flawed, >Hard times create real niggas, real niggas create good times, good times create bitch niggas, bitch niggas create hard times
Henry Bennett
it doesn't do much and yeah that's unfortunate, but it doesn't have to copy steam and it doesn't need too
Christopher Jackson
>not piracy >not piracy >piracy
Joshua White
>implying starting from scratch doesn't make it easier and faster to add features, rather than working with 15+ year old architecture
Jackson Hill
Cool, come back and shill for them when they get those basic functions then.
Elijah Reed
Did you know that all of China has only one time zone? Try to contemplate the retarded insect mind for a minute.
Lucas Sanchez
>Up and coming Didn't rocket League come out like 5 years ago lol
James Evans
gog is fucking great and really what every store should be, a place to download the game and no other bullshit
there's just no sound logic in defending steam's monopoly cause it can only hurt PC gamers
Landon Baker
>merely pretending meme
Ironic shitposts are still shitposts
>Epic is innovating and thats why they're great! >How are they innovating over steam? >T-they don't need to b-be like steam to succeed
Expect Epic having exclusive shit and priority if they even continue supporting Steam version at all
Better start to think about uninstalling
Landon Perry
>they will match steam in features >who said they won't add this feature?? >well who cares about that feature anyway
And thus the cycle is complete.
Camden Brooks
His approach sounds very libertarian/national socialist. He's definitely one of those fascist free speech supporting nazi's.
We need to ban him from twitter and everything else so he can't continue to spread his offensive hate speech supporting open dialogue between customers and businesses. The only dialogue should be the corporation telling you what to buy and you buying it. There is no room for racist free speech in a modern society; you can't yell fire in a theatre, and likewise this threatening language he is using needs to be clamped down on.
James Rivera
>Epic is China's attempt at cutting into Valve's marketshare as a game company >tfw Valve was always a tech company and never a game company
Gabe smeckledorfed China and all he did was go to lunch on a daily basis.
Because you stole it. It's like laughing at shop owner because you stole his money and now he doesn't have them while you do.
Landon Morgan
Technically having counterfeit good isn't really illegal unless you try to pass then off as legitimate then its fraud, that's why hosts sites get in trouble not me, they can't prove I didn't rip this movie off of the DVD then put the MP4 file on my PC, I can legally back up my own shit
Christian Hughes
Because Valve are such a great tech company their latest VR headset is even more expensive than the Vive Pro when original rumours said it'll undercut the original Vive.
>they don't know about how much Chet has tweeted about trump and his hatred for him
Henry Nguyen
No it's more like the shop keeper telling to to piss off when you are digging through his dumpster
Cameron Thomas
Epic's launcher is DRM and spyware and I have no reason to use it.
>B-BUT STEAM What about steam? Their launcher should be optional too, and nothing makes me lose trust more than a company shoving third party software into my game, so they can control when I have access to it. Your job is to convince me to NOT pirate your game, be it through convenience or good customer service. If you can't provide that, then yo ho yo ho.
No, it's like laughing at a retarded customer who got duped into buying a "perpetual license" to a product that's infinitely replicable for free while you just took a copy for yourself.
Mason Miller
>neat way to sort your games >can play offline I've never once understood the DRM meme with Steam.
Asher Richardson
Copying a person's identity by itself does nothing harmful. Harm only occurs once you use the identity to, for example, open a credit card. By copying a game you do not hold authority over the game company.
Similarly, counterfeiting by itself does not harm. Harm only occurs once you try to spend it, depriving the seller from their income. Pirates in general do not try to resell the game they pirate.
Piracy is harmful only if it means a lost sale, and most of the poorfags here wouldn't have bought the game otherwise.
Justin Lee
people dont support epic for muh competition they just want to spite steam because they have become too jewish for their own good
Parker Campbell
It has Steamworks DRM, which is the most basic and easily crackable DRM ever created, pretty much entirely just a token to appease publishers. You can literally crack it yourself with no programming knowledge at all, and not all games even use it.
Bentley Roberts
I never said they will match Steam in features. It's because they don't have to. If the Epic Game Store had all the exact same features as Steam right now, would you start using it? No, because you most likely are accustom to Steam and have no reason to. Thus why Epic HAS to innovate. The only thing Epic has for itself is the timed exclusives, as it is the only way (albeit lazy) that they can acquire more users. You can say it's anti-consumer, but I find that a hard argument to believe when the store is free
Hudson Gutierrez
>chinese botnet trying to get monopoly by buying exclusivity >normal Nice try Chang.
No, that's completely bullshit. Tropico 6 came out on steam recently and I was able to get it for cheap on green man gaming. If it was on epic store i wouldn't even have the choice. Explain to me how it's the same consumer experience
Alexander Lee
it's literally still DRM you just can't pretend that it isn't there unless it is one of those games on steam that actually do not have DRM
Chase Fisher
>not all games even use it So like the argument makes even less sense if you only play old games
Asher Collins
>Epic shills mad because their shitty botnet is failing >Steam shills mad for no reason when they're winning >mfw get to play the centrist and laugh at everyone
It's nice, but this is relying on Valve's good will that they'll keep the steamworks nice and simple. After paid mods, and the entire racket around forcing them to give us refunds, I'm not too trusting of our corporate """"friends"""".
Epic is just one side of the coin. They're the company that flaunts how evil they are. Valve is the wild card that I can't guess, and being a super rich corporation, I can't assume that my best interests are in mind.
Nathaniel Cruz
>want to rebel against government >government has more soldiers than you >entice soldiers to join your army instead >NOOOOOOOOO YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO FIGHT FAIR AND SQUARE BAN GUNS IMPEACH DRUMPF
Sebastian Cook
Yes, that's what I am saying. Steamworks DRM is functionally equivalent to no DRM at all to any pirate with half a brain cell.
Now Denuvo on the other hand, which is allowed on Steam, is a bit nastier. But the use of that is entirely up to the discretion of the publisher, and it is in no way affiliated with Valve or Steam itself.
But you literally can pretend it isn't there if you just download a Steam emulator, it's the simplest fucking thing to do.
Luis Perez
it's normal on consoles
Gabriel Rodriguez
>it's literally still DRM you just can't pretend that it isn't there Yeah I can, it's called cracking and never worrying again.
>It's nice, but this is relying on Valve's good will that they'll keep the steamworks nice and simple Considering they've been following the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" rule for over a decade, I'd say we're fine. At least until Gabe dies, then I'd worry.
Valve has not made any significant changes to Steamworks DRM in literally over a decade. I think we're pretty safe at this point.
Cooper Reed
Steam has roughly 2 things going for it, VR (nobody gives a shit) and Linux (Even less people give a shit)
Though hopefully more people will give a shit about linux, but nothing will stop Epic forking Proton if that ever occurs.
John Gonzalez
Creation process of this product cost money and time. Peoples do these games not for free, food is not for free, rent is not free. Perpetual license is just a way to earn money from your work
Tyler Collins
I get that it's easy to crack but like you just can't say there's no DRM when there is
Jack James
Steam offers developers a whole lot more than epic does, but these benefits are more add-on values rather than straight up money. Which means you have to actually produce a decent product to get anything out of steam.
What we're seeing are all the lazy devs and publishers who don't want to compete, moving their product over to epic for easy bribe money revenue with no thought or concern to the long term survival of their business.
They're literally killing themselves off for a few more shekels today.
And epic itself is nothing more than an attempt to take over and monopolize the market with anti-customer practices, like no reviews, no refunds, no forums, no-mods, no-nothing. I'm genuinely baffled at this industry. Shit like epic smacks of outside money trying to influence the market for the sake of political gain.
Everything about epic is anti-capitalist, which makes sense considering their ties to china.
Liam Cruz
So even after buying Rocket League on Steam, I wont be able to play it anymore? If this is Epics game plan going forward to "destroy Steam" then I wont give them a cent.
Robert Cruz
We do. It's called "private ownership". Gabe owns 100% of Valve and is not listed on the stock market.
Asher Jones
>pay for game on steam because muh morals >then just crack it lol
Nicholas Perez
Steam are fairly unique in that they are the only people who are getting a slice of the pie, they don't have shareholders telling them what to do.
Which is somewhat more healthy than any other game store out there.
Nicholas Stewart
>all this arguing over whether or not Epic's economic terror tactics will sway Steam >nobody realizes Steam makes such a large combined profit off of Dota 2, CSGO, 30% sales tax, and hardware sales alone, not to mention possible investments the company's made into the tech industry, to make Epic not even matter
It's just not possible to argue this as a consumer, because neither company cares about the consumer.
If I want to have cloud saves and a fucking shopping cart I could even get that on the consoles, epic games serves no purpose
Thomas Foster
The biggest crossover after SSBU.
Lucas Cruz
>buy bike from store >unlike normal stores, you're not allowed to share these bikes with friends or else an alarm gets set off and the police come and shoot your friend >some of the alarms will self destruct if you try to remove them, destroying the bike with it, so you have to wait for an expert to defuse the bomb so the alarm can safely be removed >some of the other alarms have dud bombs and can be removed with just a screwdriver because of the manufacturer's incompetence rather than benevolence >BRO IT'S OKAY TO HAVE ANTI-CONSUMER BIKE ALARMS BECAUSE YOU CAN JUST REMOVE THE EASY ONES
Benjamin Gray
The thing is, copies of a game are not a scarce resource, and therefore have a proper price of $0. It's the labor that's scarce. We should be directly paying developers to create the games we want, and buying a copy of a game is implicitly paying for that labor, and the hope of future games from the same people. However, the copies should rightfully be available for free, according to the most basic free market principles. The Patreon model actually makes a lot of sense here, cancerous as it may sometimes be.
Who ever said that? You pay for the game on Steam because you're voting with your wallet for more games similar to that one, but if they try any shady shit with your license, you can easily liberate your copy by cracking it. I know consolefags aren't used to the concept of "consumer power", but that's what I'm talking about here.
Jonathan Parker
Like most singleplayer games? Amazing
Nathan Adams
Nah I think they were just planning to make it so you can't buy it off steam but they backed off after people started calling them out
Logan Powell
Stay mad ebinshill, doesn't change the fact your example ignores the fact the "anti-bike alarms" would pop off like suction cups.
If they deactivated steam copies or blocked steam users from the servers games journos would still defend them
Nathan Fisher
When everyone can unite against a common enemy you've fucked up.
Andrew Bell
they've made more money off of fortnite than what valve is worth, and they've already shown that they're bringing some serious competition to the table, 30% is as bad as the mobile app stores, there is no real excuse to continue charging that much
Dominic Fisher
no they are just not going to sell it on steam anymore you can still play it there just like what happened with alan wake
Grayson Flores

epic game store has a lack of features BY DESIGN
They will NEVER have review, they will never have a workshop, they DO NOT WANT TO GIVE THESE THINGS TO THEIR CUSTOMERS
They do not believe in customer rights. They do not believe in giving customers what they want.
epic are the kind of company that wants to shit out a bunch of bought-and-paid for advertisements disguised as """reviews""" ordering people to buy x/y/z game. They do not want actual discussions, they do not want an actual marketplace. They want a shitty communistic system where they decide what products win and what products lose based on who pays the most money to epic for the privilege.
You have to be a colossal fucking retard to buy the shit epic is pulling.
Jacob Cox
If they popped off like suction cups, you would be able to remove them by just deleting a file. You need shady external tools just to bypass the DRM in Steam games, even single player games like The Binding of Isaac Rebirth contain anti-consumer DRM.
Joseph Russell
Why you brining up denuvo when this thread is about epic
Oliver Fisher
objectively based and undeniably redpilled
Zachary Lewis
Oh ok, so I'd need to by a shady ice scraper to pry it off. Your arguments will never be anything other than fucking retarded.
Owen Myers
You're a fool if you don't think Steamworks was intended to be non-intrusive and easily circumvented. It's literally SO EASY to crack, and has been that way for so long, it must have been designed that way. It's more like: >some bombs are non-functional dummies, added on after manufacturing to appease the manufacturer
Yes obviously you don't want even that on your bike, but practically it makes no difference either way and keeps the shareholders from chimping out and adding REAL bombs to the bikes themselves, or at least it does for a while. See: Denuvo. Your analogy only makes sense if bikes can be copied infinitely though, which isn't exactly how it works in the real world, hence why nobody has ever thought to attach bombs to them.
Steam does nice things like sharing games, i usually "borrow" my brothers SP games when he's done with them by using family sharing.
Charles Clark
Imagine being so brainwashed by Reddit DRM peddlers that you actually believe Steamworks DRM is secretly a pro-consumer choice
Tyler Nguyen
Is Yea Forums infested with chink shills?
Gabriel Allen
Kind of reminds me of how Light Novel publishers will rely on manga sites to determine which unlicensed series is most popular and therefore most potentially profitable to localize.
Sebastian Garcia
It's neither pro, nor anti. See and then ask yourself how you fucking breathe in that chinese smog.
Jonathan Gomez
You can share your steam games with your top 5 niggas, epic, no fun for me and my niggas, boycott epic
Isaac Cruz
>chinese botnet tries to get monopoly >dude, we gotta help them even if it hurts us consumers, because they're fighting against the giant boogeyman! No matter how you turn it it's fucking retarded user.
Andrew Gray
AS IF THE EPIC GAMES STORE OR ANY STEAM ALTERNATIVE EXCEPT GOG IS GOING TO SELL DRM FREE GAMES JESUS CHRIST ARE YOU BRAINDEAD
The fact that Epic doesn't offer an in-house weak token DRM is going to serve only to push publishers toward using Denuvo for every single game they release, since there's not an easier alternative built into the pipeline. And Steamworks IS indeed the easiest option for DRM if you're releasing on that store, Denuvo requires a ton of integration work, which is why not all publishers use it still.
Brandon Gomez
>NO TRUST ME BRO IT'S 4D CHESS VALVE WANTS YOU TO REMOVE THE DRM WHICH IS WHY THEY FORCE IT ONTO SINGLE PLAYER GAMES SO YOU CAN'T PLAY THEM WITHOUT STEAM TRUST ME BRO THEY'RE NOT JUST LAZY THEY'RE TRYING TO BE PRO-CONSUMER SO YOU CAN BUY MORE GAMES FROM THEM AND THEY CAN DONATE MORE MONEY TO PRO-ISRAEL LOBBIES
Easton Richardson
>being this mad
Jacob Howard
Valve does not force Steamworks onto any game. It's entirely at the discretion of the developer or publisher whether they want to use it, and there are plenty of games on Steam that can be launched directly from their executable, since it's unprotected.
Carson Gonzalez
Pretty sure they legally cannot do that in 90% of juridictions.
Joshua Green
>BASED GABEN IS GONNA MAKE ISRAEL GREAT AGAIN BROS HE'S PRO-CONSUMER WHICH IS WHY HE PUTS DRM ON OUR GAMES AND LETS HIS MODS TAKE AWAY OUR GAMES AND IN-GAME ITEMS FOR SAYING NO NO WORDS
>tfw you run out of arguments so you have to resort to /pol/ buzzwords
Bros I'm scared Epic is gonna fire me if they find out about this...
Nathan Sanders
they didn't make a formal bid they were just considering it and they were prepared to pay 1 billion (a reasonable amount at the time as this was a long time ago)
Levi Hughes
>TAKE AWAY OUR GAMES AND IN-GAME ITEMS FOR SAYING NO NO WORDS Literally never happens in Valve games. Are you just having a stroke?
Owen Ward
>tfw you have no arguments because you're enough of a brainwashed shill to think Steamworks is actually a 4D chess plan to sell DRM-free games DRM is based, I don't want Epic to take away my DRM games and make me use a different DRM client
Dominic Rivera
Bruh that argument of "they want us to crack the DRM" is stupid and all but if it wasn't for steamworks every game would have game spy comrade until gamespy went down then even more games wouldn't work, I hate having to remove GFWL from shit. Valve already said if they go under they gonna flip the swtich and turn the DRM off
Blake Sanders
The only games I buy as of late are older or from a few years ago at best. The newest games I've bought in the past year has been Insurgency Sandstorm and God Eater 3.

>that shitty soccer car game that's only popular because of E-celebs >we sold our souls to a corporation so we could make it an e-sport are you for fucking real what timeline is this
Unreal Tournament is their ace in the hole and they'll fuck it up

Itch.io (is a floodgate of shit) Origin (Is curated to EA content) uPlay (Is curated to Ubisoft content) GoG (Is curated and exclusive by handling of compatibility team) Humble Bundle offers DRM free versions of games Twitch has its own VERY SHITTY launcher because Amazon tried to enter the market Microsoft store fucking exists and serves as the shittiest piece of shit that has ever existed but AT LEAST IT HAS A SHOPPING CART
Brandon Hernandez
>tfw you're literally incapable of reading comprehension because all your excess mental capacity is dedicated to fantasizing about taking Tim Sweeney's cock up your ass
I just hate valve so much guys... I don't even care if the alternative is a thousand times worse anything to see them suffer.
Adam Wood
Dota 2 players have been banned by Valve employees for "toxic behavior" and lost access to their inventories filled with thousands of dollars worth of items
Caleb Perez
The real problem with this is I'm in a medium with people who have ZERO foresight. Its hopeless to stop Epic because people are still out there not giving a shit as long as they can play their games.
Nicholas Evans
I personally don't understand the windows store thing is shit thing, are the game files not accessible and is like forza an app and not an exe, never used it because like everything but Gears and Forza is on steam
Michael Ward
>tfw you're so brainwashed by years of DRM that you think everyone else is a brainwashed DRM whore, but for the other company because you're a fat sports obsessed American
Ian Barnes
Implying I don't pirate on PS4
Jason Hernandez
Unreal Tournament has been dead for years, the latest entry is unfinished and development has pretty much halted since Fortnite took off.
Wouldn't count on it.
Okay retard then just get games from GOG. I understand why somebody would loathe DRM in all forms but I'm trying to be practical here. Steam's DRM solution is much, much less hostile to consumers than the standard on the Epic store will be. The power is entirely in your hands to remove it from singleplayer games with minimal effort if you want. Now fuck off.
Dylan Wright
Is this the chinese equivalent of "IM THE LAW IM THE LAW IM THE LAW IM THE LAW"?
Let me just say that the only reason I dislike Ebin Gaymes or any other launcher is because I don't want to lose all my library, playtime, achievements and screenshots on my profile because those are the only proof I have of my sad existence that I did something during all those years of doing nothing but playing video games. I also realize that this is meaningless because Steam and Valve probably won't exist in 100 years so it will all be for nothing regardless but I want to keep the illusion while I am alive. If Ebic ever give someone the option to import your whole profile to their store with all the aforementionned stuff then maybe I'll make the jump to it some day.
Dafuq you defending epic games an always online service for then nigga, not every American is fat or even loves sports that be like be saying all your British wenches love that Arab cock (they do). >inb4 all American women are mudsharks Fuck you nigga being racist is so lame I wanna drill for some oil with some middle eastern queens, then leave them to make some white babies because racemixing leads to to many birth defects and I ain't raising no downy

All these posts, all these shitty wojaks and Facebookfrogs just because people feel too entitled to download a 300 MB Launcher
L M A O Also i like the fact taht Steam-drones get their shit pushed in, they get a free pass way too often
Jaxon Harris
But no one knows how much valve is worth, so how do you know that?
Alexander Flores
>pc Yea Forumsirgins are so bored from their shitty meme competitive games that they'd rather defend even something like EGS instead of playing their garbage I know that the majority is just shitposting, but this is probably the lowest point vee ever reached.
Camden Morgan
>and plus like steam forums were remotely useful past 2010 The only way I can see you honestly holding this opinion is if you've just never played a game on Steam since 2010. That's just so blatantly false that nobody should have to listen to your opinion on the subject.
Samuel Anderson
Good! Let Psyonix fucking burn with them. Its what they get for digging the hole Legacy of Kain's corpse lies in deeper. Cast them in!
China is taking over the world and because they're already balls deep into it, everyone's just said fuck it and rolled out the red carpet. In this specific case it's Tencent eventually Disneying the fuck out of the PC industry, and probably later the entire game industry.
Ian Evans
free pass for what? the N-word on valve games? at least finish your sentences next time.
Jaxson Sullivan
I can't think of a worse future than epic owning a monopoly on PC games
Steam censorship will look like a fucking joke in comparison
>that company literally fucking controls social media in china more than the goddamn government does you act like facebook and google hasn't already turned you into a commodity
What like the free pass to... use a decent launcher and buy keys from third party resellers in order to get games cheaper?
Yeah, they've had it too good for too long, they shouldn't be allowed to have nice things like that. That's why Epic is so based, they're taking away everything good about PC gaming!
Noah Williams
>bitching about steam having DRM >isn't bitching about Epic being literally always online DRM Let me guess, if someone brings up GoG for no DRM you'll autistically say "REEE GOG IS DRM TOO BECAUSE YOU MAKE AN ACCOUNT TO BUY THE GAME" even though the installers don't have any DRM.
Evan Carter
steam so best babby -- and devs agree!
Connor James
Fuck you're pathetic, but unlike most valve drones at least you're honest.
Caleb Gonzalez
yeah I can't imagine a platform that doesn't have loli hentai puzzle 2 popping in my face along with zero quality control on what dog shit indie games get green lit and end up getting people to pay $15-$25 for unfinished unity projects.
Who cares. Buying studios and funding them is normal and what they should have been doing from the get go instead of trying to buy exclusivity from 3rd parties. Infinitely less people will accept their deal when it's buying their studio, just like everyone doesn't sell out to EA because they know it's short term cash for long term studio closure or being forced to churn out garbage. Rocket league is also dogshit anyway, so no problem.
James Turner
Like when all the individual Netflix-liks launch, people will just go back to piracy, a problem that Steam made a lot better for devs.
Hudson Thomas
What's the problem?
Why is sega allowed to buy Atlus? Why is Microsoft allowed to buy up every random Dev under the sun but this isn't ok?
Valve/Steam fanboys have a mental disorder.
Julian Smith
I'm sorry you have shit taste Meltys quest is a good game
Why do you hate the fact that games are released on a platform? Why do you want a large entity to tell you what you should or shouldn't buy? Are you a retarded baby? Is the government not enough that you need a second government for your games store?
insurance companies that have to pay for terminal treatment?
Evan Moore
>But it was good for Blizzard? Hello? Nice try retard. Activision have only made blizzard more shit consistently over time. You'll notice they haven't done anything good since they were independently blizzard alone.
Dominic Barnes
Sega/MS don't remove already released games from competing platforms.
William Reyes
what the fuck are they doing with all those phones?
Ryder Martin
Do people actually get mad about things they don't need to see and basically don't see without pursuing it? Valve basically solved this queue problem like 3-4 years ago. Every single relevant indie game in existence is on steam and even irrelevant ones. Why would you get mad? Are you a retard?
Josiah Taylor
Thanks. Butterlord soon by the way.
Luis Wilson
>what would happen if Epic bought out every single game release for the next five years? They don't have the money to do so, are you high? Nobody has the money to do that. Do you know how many games come out? Epic and china are just desperation throwing what money they do have around in the hopes that it'll make valve look bad and establish a foothold for them. This is why he gets so mad when valve literally just ignore everything he says and does, makes it harder for them to look bad if they don't take the bait and respond.
Evan Ortiz
Yeah I used to pirate everything until the convenience of Steam won me over. It's time to just not give a fuck about PC gaming and ethics in gaming in general. You can never lose if you just pirate the games you want.
Hudson Ward
Personally this is better because it makes more sense, it's like fortnite being an EGS exclusive, it's their IP they can do as they please with it
Jose Parker
>why do you want a large entity to tell you what you should or shouldn't buy? I was about to ask you the same thing. I have origin downloaded for titan fall 2 and apex. epic launcher for unreal tourny and GoG/Steam for everything else I don't have pirated. have fun playing your degenerate weeaboo games sperglord
Yeah these turbo nerds think like their leader Jim Sterling if you think epic games is good install it, it doesn't bother me, but you should delete your steam account since you think epics gonna somehow kill steam
Elijah Sullivan
>reminder steam key resellers do not count reminder that you're brain damaged and they literally do. valve see's no money from those sales, valve does not get to dictate a minimum price for those sales, valve does not limit those sales to a specific number. they are the very definition of competition you dumb nigger. the actual platform used to install the game doesn't matter, competition is determined by who is trying to earn your money, and the rules of sales and pricing. epic allowed gmg to sell borderlands or whatever the fuck, but only at a specific price they could not decide their own pricing, controlled and manufactured competition is not actually competition faggot. valve allows gmg to sell whatever the fuck it wants at whatever price it wants, and then it competes with it to earn your sale.
Sebastian Rogers
It's the implication since Epic is not only owned by Tencent now, but have now become unusually aggressive in seizing the market. It's entirely inline with China's ever expanding grip on literally everything.
They offered a fucking indie studio TWO MILLION DOLLARS for exclusivity, not to speak of how many timed exclusives they'd been stealing from Steam. There is a deeper fucking meaning to all this, to the extent that I can reasonably suspect you of being a genuine Tencent/Epic shill working in tandem with a legion of others to dull everyone's outbursts.
Leo Hall
explain to me why epic games is bad as a tax paying American with all the consoles and a 1000 Steam game library
Parker Reed
This guy is in every thread lads, ignore his retard ass. All he does is cry about the store showing games he doesn't want even though he has to opt in to see half of those games, and the tools are available to filter the other half if he uses steams algorithm properly, but he's too lazy he wants mommy to do it for him. Too much choice is hard for brainlets
Steam is not a bad service. But if you ask me if they provide enough value to justify the 30% cut the answer is no. It is also the same cut that actual monopolies like Google Play or App Store charge. That should give you a clue that the market isn't functioning.
Ayden Myers
I will They're a lot more fun than your gay pew pew pew pew games And they're all on the steam store
Thank you steam for allowing Japanese devs to consider translating their games to the west
maybe if these chinks bought tf2 and uncucked it i would stop hating them and download their retarded spyware
Juan Flores
Do you like the people's republic of china? >yes Use epic then >no Don't use epic then
Gabriel Wood
The fuck the Google play store offer that steam don't, steam sells software too
Blake Wilson
Epic is tencent and tencent is a state Company like everything that matters in China. It's like playing with resources cheating. They could buy steam in a whiff if they wanted.
Owen Cox
how long do you think they'll pretend that they'll continue to support the steam version of the game I give it 3 months top
Zachary Myers
I think it'll start with some "exclusive" epic content, then after a year or so when everyone's forgot the controversy they'll just quietly stop patching it.
Blake Barnes
I doubt this will happen as there is crossplay with every platform it's on. They'd have to either exclude Steam from everyone else or Epic from everyone else.
Luke Morgan
That's still a steam game retard
James Russell
>stupid neet afraid of any social interaction where he isnt anonymous thinks his opinion matters in regards to discussion forums

Charles Long
>They could buy steam in a whiff if they wanted. Not remotely true. Gabe would have to be willing to sell, which chances are he's not. At some point, you're too rich to fucking care about more money, at least if you have half a working brain, and he seems to.
Brandon Davis
You need to go back

If only valve made it so Steam VR headset is super buggy or doesn't work if game is launched through EGS.
how many pieces did you manufacture, you lardass? 100? 200?
Isaiah Sanchez
Gaben doesn't want to sell Steam, nor Valve. They are privately owned companies. Gaben is more interested in what's "right" for the PC gaming industry, meaning that buying out games for exclusivity and selling out to other companies are off the table.
William Hall
As opposed to jewish steam botnet that already has a monopoly? You are the one who is running steam service 24/7 on your machine, nigger. Don't even start about botnets, retarded millenial.
Noah Johnson
Every fucking argument against epic is retarded
>I have to redo my friends list >Their UI isn't like steam >I have to use a new launcher
These are not fucking issues at all. This is insane nitpicking because you faggots hate change but can't realize this change is good. Anything that pushes steams shit in is good.
>Gaben is more interested in what's "right" for the PC gaming industry The same Gabe who fought tooth and nail for years to avoid instituting proper refunds? The Gabe who argued for paid mods?
No cloud saves. No achievements. No shopping cart. No third party key resellers. No good sales. Nothing. And by buying from it, you're supporting the greatest cancer on the industry, Tencent.
Chase Brown
What if I dont use reddit? Steam forums are extremely useful so devs can work with the consumers to fix a bug or some balance issue. I myself had an experience with the darksiders warmastered edition where the dev sent me a custom .exe so he could find out that his render pipeline was fucked. It took him 30 minutes to fix it what could take days to even reproduce it.
Tyler Sanchez
Judging by the success of artifact I can't wait for more valve releases.
Colton Phillips
Epic is Americunt company and regulated by US laws, despite how much you refuse to believe.
Kevin Jenkins
paid mods aren't a terrible idea. The ideal world is the vast majority of mods being free but shit like Enderal being something you can sell (because it is technically a mod) but without a certain bar of work/input cleared absolutely nobody will buy your shit and will just tell you to fuck off. Of course, gamers aren't mature enough to have that kind of self-control, so maybe the ideal just isn't attainable.
Valve's implementation of paid mods was bad, spurred on by Bethesda's retarded intentions. They were making it about money, not love of the product.
>refunds Europeans, everyone.
Bentley Turner
>Day X since EGS' founding >still no price war in sight I sleep.
The check is equal to x amount of guaranteed sales, so the revenue split is irrelevant up to a certain point. The publishers/developers are just greedy cunts that don't have faith in their own product.
Bentley Cruz
Would you let retards who make bad decisions sell back 1s and 0s they bought for 95% percent off. I wouldn't but I'm glad valve is nicer than I am and I'm glad Australia gave up their guns to fight for online consumer rights
Jose Reyes
>Epic is tencent and tencent is a state No, Epic is Epic, an Ameicunt company, Tencent is just their investor which is not owned by state, no matter how much you refuse to believe.
Matthew Walker
Until they move to China (Tencent would be in full support) and continue without regulations and can pay their employees even less for more hours. People don't change nigga, greed is a universal language tho
Easton Turner
Ubisoft goes Steamworks bye bye always on DRM.
Christian Wood
Video shows a chinese "click farm" and all these phones are just there to simulate users.
Theres an article about the increasing use of bots and fake account around the net:
Did you like not take world politics in college bro, everything including you belong to the state in China.
Justin Hall
All I want is regional pricing from Epic. Until then, I'm not paying 3500 Paysauce for a 10 dollar game.
Ethan Sanders
>Until they move to China Except they didn't and still didn't, this is merely your deflecting and baseless assumption to justify your preconceived notions . Tencent is part of Epic's investors for over 6 years already, and Epic is still operating in America. I'm surprised moronic neets such as you dare to call those rabid leftists SJW "mindless drones", since you also repeatedly act like one.
Samuel Gonzalez
>35% of 50k people who took this survey shut the fuck up faggot
Lucas Collins
>Did you like not take world politics in college bro, Maybe you should take some first bro >everything including you belong to the state in China. No, its not, sorry to break your gender-fluid bubble.
Chase Moore
if psyonix doesn't revive UT, then this would have been pointless fragmenting
Gavin Brown
Actually you have to prove me wrong retard, difference between state owned and state run for 1 and 2 you really shilling for China right now Mao?
Ayden Cox
competition is good in business, it means gaben has to get off his fat ass and offer a better deal to devs.
Tyler Robinson
oh cool, then I may as well use the launcher that has a decade+ of experience and innovation which just so happens to be steam. Thanks user!
Jackson Richardson
Kill yourself you moral busy body making assumptions about people. defending a business with an F with the Better Business bureau, move to China since you love shilling for it so fucking much. Epic will move to China long before they ever become a company worth supporting
He will never do it, look at artifact. Valve prefers to shut down a game instead of changing their business model.
Leo Hall
He already did you have to hit 10$ million in sales and it becomes 90/10 at 1$ million it becomes 80/20 (I think). I don't know why people never bring this up
Xavier Sanders
We'd get shitty skins sure. But Epic is too fucking lazy to change any core gameplay mechanics, which would leave the game in the good state of 2009 just with bonus maps.
Austin Gonzalez
My bad its 25/75 after 1 mil and 20/80 after 10 had to double check
Jeremiah Lee
This applies only to big games, the majority pays a lot for so little.
Christian Bell
>Epic will probably let RL stay on Steam for the sake of its existing pc audience.
Could you imagine the shitstorm if they didn't though. They'd utterly kill it.
Ethan Reed
Not even surprised.
Sebastian Green
You do know he was being sarcastic?
Thomas Bennett
How can Idubs do this to us.
Michael Johnson
>thinking Steam is damaged whatsoever by a launcher with no reviews, forums, guides or workshop
Benjamin Scott
This is a very good point...

Michael Campbell
>I know gaming is a huge industry but there's got to be some huge incentive for epic to throw this much money away on such a high risk venture Marketing. Companies spend hundreds of millions on marketing a year, Epic decided to spend that money to buy games, i assume they got at lest 250mln$ budget if not 500$. They dont care if they lose the money, they want to cut into the online distribution and they will, no matter how much money they lose here they have a steady supply form 1mln unreal 4 licences and and fortnite.
Its the first serious competition Valve saw, another company with infinite money.
>that image That literally never happened other than their own games.
Andrew Edwards

Jonathan Wilson
Lmao you fucking mong it's not just when a word starts with vowel, but a vowel sound, unless you're such a retard that you say the 'h' in 'honest'. >septic education
David Allen
>If Valve did it no. Also EPIC launcher/store is cancer. - shit, awful interface - megahuge cpu consumption - big ass ram hog - bugs up my ass - no reviews/forum/community - no workshop - no Steam ID like feature - no VAC
NUH-UH. Fuck EPIC and their store. Fuck that shit son. They should fucking go back to engine development.
Alexander Cook
They have to actually innovate something then. Having far less features isn't innovating. It has nothing to justify its existence. How can people as stupid as you exist.
Ian Wilson
I got gears of war 4 when with my gpu 23 years ago. It literally took a month to download and install because the store kept "forgetting" how much was downloaded/installed.
Hudson Campbell
>im retarded thanks for your input
Kevin Stewart
Pretty much everywhere I look online people are shitting on Epic.
Jose Reyes
Welcome aboard, matey. Always good when someone new realizes that the only way to fix this industry is to make sure nobody in it gets any of your money.
Austin Gray
lol you know you can softmod your consoles too right? Console piracy has been a thing since the Dreamcast.
Benjamin Price
rocketleague is cancer anyway. they not only added mictotransactions but they locked them behind buying mystery bag toys you buy at wallmart
Carson Garcia
They made millions off lootboxes, cosmetic dlc is just a cherry on the top.
