I still don't understand exactly all the gloom and doom surrounding SFV (other than its obvious issues with DLC and launch).
I've played many fighting over the years since I was a kid; Tekken, SC, MK, SF, VF, but admittedly, SFV is the first time I really delved into the mechanics to to try to play competitively. I'm having a ton of fun so far and Cammy's legs will never cease to impress me

Personally, the launch turned me off so I waited for the Arcade Edition

He's not bad, but he suffers from the problem of being too honest in a game with M. Bison and Cammy. Chun, Sakura, and Sagat are the same, well balanced characters that see little play as they have to actually work to get wins.

Chun-Li is back on being viable after S4 buffs, and Sagat legit counters top tiers like Birdie and Akuma

Here is an actual example of that: Ultimate Mortal Combat III with Scorpion and Human Smoke. The two of them are nearly the same exact character, they have the same animations, hitboxes, hurtboxes, basically an exact clone. The difference is Human Smoke has slightly better combo game due to having a launcher that Scorpion doesn't, thus there is literally no reason to play Scorpion.

Characters need to be different, there needs to be reason to encourage people to play other characters then just whoever is the best.

I got the arcade version, and after doing all story character versions(lv up = fm points), watching demo combos, doing some trials, doing some survival modes I had like 300k which is enough for only 3 characters(100k each).
So, it isnt a matter of months, if you want the characters through FM it will take a great while and you wont have enough for extra costumes, colors, stages, etc.

I had stop playing because I was waiting for a sale for S3 pack(which is finally 15), because fuck FM system. S3 had the characters I wanted to play the most too

I wouldn't say everyone got fucked though, as a dedicated Sagatfag I wasn't sure what they were going to do but I'm pretty pleased with him. He still keeps the spirit of Sagat even if zoning isn't what it used to be, even got a great new redesign.

Well it's too simple and came off one of the more complex titles. Maybe if it came after the Alpha games it wouldn't seem so bad. I think Capcom didn't read the situation quite right when it came to simplifying SFV. People were ready for something crazy like that first trailer. Although I'm pretty much done with this series, I am curious what form SFVI will take.

I'm a dedicated Dictator loyalist whose only real gripe is the loss of ST. LK xx ST. LK and psycho crusher being locked behind v-trigger. Some other characters I mess with lost more important tools though, Rog not having his armor and headbutt weakens him defensively while Akuma lost neutral/backwards air hados and so on. Removing defensive tools in general seems trendy in SFV, I wonder (who) was behind this and for what reason. Surely not to please spectators, Capcom would never
