it's overrated
Chrono Cross was better

it's not overrated and chrono cross wasn't awful but it was vastly inferior

Let's not.

I just started it and I like it

10/10 game. what else can be discussed?

imagine unironically having the cringe ass opinion

Chrono Cross was shit with good music by a literal God.

What a fucking shit game it was. Radical Dreamers was fucking way better. You probably think Legend of Dragoon was the best PS1 game too ,you faggot.

Reminder we never had a true CT sequel because Masato Kato had a chimp out on Square execs for the insane crunch he spent on CT. He has stated numerous times CC was him trying to get away from CT as much as possible, and does not consider it a sequel to CT.

That's the opinion of someone who never played either, for sure.

Imagine liking playing as a furry for a huge chunk of the game. Imagine a shitty forced connection with an older game that clearly was tacked on at a later date. Imagine having 10000000 characters but they are all shit and Suikoden makes you seethe in jealousy because it did that gimmick better. Imagine a battle system that makes FF8's drawing look like a fucking genius idea in comparison. Just imagine.

It had great graphics for the time (the backgrounds are beautiful) and wonderful music, and that's it.

They literally lifted parts of Radical Dreamers and transplanted them into Cross. If you ever play RD you'll see where all that shit came from and how it did it way better.

It's very obvious that shit was all shoved in halfway through production.

I find it weird that Toriyama wasn't brought back for the sequel.

It's Akira Toriyama's finest work

True. I love everything in this game.

Reminder that Secret of Mana was originally codenamed Chrono Trigger back when it was actually being made as FF4, and the FF4 we actually got was a FF spinoff for NES. After some reevaluation Square decided a sudden jump from turn based to action based would alienate players and so the game codenamed as Chrono Trigger which was the original FF4 became Secret of Mana instead, while the NES spinoff was remade for SNES and released as FF4 instead. The codename Chrono Trigger name was reused for the game now known as Chrono Trigger.

yeah guys, remember the big fungus guy, and the alien, and the old black woman, and generic fighter #4, and the dog, and the kid, and the other kid, and the third kid, and a bigger dog, and the guy with the mask, and the other guy with a mask, and the robot, and the

go and find all 1994 nintendo and game magazines and post its review scores for the SNES version

Lucca > Marle

>There are possibly a good amount of people out there trying CT for the first time due to Famitsus list
I hope they're enjoying it. It's always been one of my favorite RPGs on the SNES and the more people that get exposed to it the better

Yes. I put it off for a while because I'm a contrarian but so far it's pretty good and fun.

Yeah, they were actual characters and not throwaway party members! Imagine that!

Remake when?

Crono for smash

Every time I try to beat it I play for about 8+ hours straight, burn out and never touch it again. I feel as if I reach a point where I've seen all the game has to offer and after I out it down from my binge session I don't want to play it any more.
The farthest I got was the floating sky people kingdom. Should I try to get back to finishing it? Am I going to have some sort of massive euphoric moment when I'm done?

It's a short game as far as jrpgs go, just finish it. Floaty sky kingdom is a bit lengthy but it spans from about the 50% mark of the story to 80-85%. After that it's mostly sidequests to gear up for the last sequence.

Thanks, that's a bit of relief.
I know it's a "must play" like Mario64 or Link to the past. I'll try to do it in 2 runs over the weekend.

i'm pretty sure that's wrong and you got all your facts mixed up

also great source

You should be able to knock it out over a weekend no problem. If i had to break it into chunks for reference I'd say game start (0%) -> End of Time (25%) -> Magus/Tyrano Lair (50%) -> Ocean Palace (75%) -> Endgame

worth some SNES-era warm fuzzies at least

Chrono Lucca Robo is the best team, fight me

>After we finished FFIII, we started FFIV with the idea of a slightly more action-based, dynamic overworld rather than keep combat as a completely separate thing. But, at some point, it wound up not being IV anymore… Instead, it was eventually released as “Seiken Densetsu 2” (Secret of Mana), but during development it was actually referred to as “Chrono Trigger”. (laugh)

>At the time, just after FFIII, we were working with Mr. Toriyama on a game with a seamless, side-view system. A CD-ROM attachment for the Super Famicom was scheduled to be released, you see. So we had this enormous game planned out for the CD-ROM attachment, but ultimately we were never able to release it.

>So we had the Chrono Trigger project changed to a new game, and this other game we had been working on was condensed down into Seiken Densetsu 2. Because of this, Seiken 2 always felt like a sequel to FFIII to me.

Too young for snes, GBA, PC were my first consoles. Playing on DS. Just feel like I needed to beat one of the most important games of all time. I can imagine playing basic rpgs and stuff on the snes then all of a suddenly a game like CT comes out and BTFOs everything. I know it was pretty important at the time but not being a part of the boomer generation I won't ever truly grasp its significance.
