>killed everyone on the island so he could escape
What an asshole
Killed everyone on the island so he could escape
They weren’t real
My childhood played this when it first came out and he's still haunted by this decision to this day. Please pray for him.
I hope that your childhood can forgive itself someday.
Escapism is bad.
If Koholint Island wasn't real and neither were its inhabitants, then Link wasn't real too.
What was Link doing in the Wind Fish's dream?
Link was the Wind Fish.
The whole thing was a fever dream after his ship went down.
link was dead all along
>Link was the Wind Fish
Shit, never actually thought of it that way. So were the nightmares a part of Link that wanted him to remain in the dream, in constant escapism?
Don't you have some Ivalice to destroy, Marche ?
>Durr just let yourself drown to save a bunch of fictional characters you created in your head
They're just as real as Link.

>have dream
>wake up
>everyone in the dream was genocide
>go to sleep
>you lose consciousness and essentially die
>your consciousness is rebuilt the next morning, feeling fine despite being a completely enw person
Link is also a fictional character.
OP none of them were even fully “realized” people which is why they acted so weird. They were like a “person” you encounter in a dream, they’re half real and only so well formed. They existed without will or the ability to truly express themselves beyond the confines of their creator, it’s why they all act like fucking weirdos. Marin was more recognized since she was more of a focus in the dream but even she is just a mirage.
I was already hit by Bridge to Teribithea so I didn’t give a shit
No they weren’t. The people in your dreams are usually just there and then they’re gone. You have the impression they’re people but they don’t exist beyond that impression.
The same goes for litereally every person you engage with every day. You have no way of knowing if any of it is real. Jesus christ, this is philosophy 101.
>didn't understand the story
Brainlet
Marin turns into a seagull at the end so they do exist at some level.
what? no, you see the windfish after link wakes up
We know definitively that the islanders weren’t
Everyone who dreams is a mass murderer because they wake up eventually.
The only living inhabitants were Link, Marin, maybe Tarin, the Wind Fish and the nightmare. Link, Marin and the Wind Fish came out alive and well. The nightmare was killed but he deserved it. If Tarin was alive before then he might be screwed being a tanuki in the middle of the ocean, but if that was the case then Link could pick him up.
The Wind Fish was sleeping in the middle of the ocean. When Link's boat crashed he was absorbed into his dreamworld.
LA has the best story in the franchise and it's not even close. Simple but very effective. Bring back Koizumi.
because link was dreaming with the windfish.
Yep. That's how The Nightmare was able to take the appearance of foes from his past.
You also see Marin. It's just Link coming back to his senses.
>That's how The Nightmare was able to take the appearance of foes from his past
That's because Link's subconscious influenced the dream land. Marin looked like Zelda for the same reason. There's not much of a point saying that Link and the Wind Fish are the same being since there would be no reason for the owl to not just tell Link that he needs to wake himself up.
>You also see Marin
Because she was also trapped.
Should I wait for the remake or should I just play the original?
I've only ever beat the first dungeon cause' I'm a scrub.
>Wakes up
Fucking asshole
Remake will probably have some QoL adjustments but personally I can't stand that artstyle enough to spend money on it.
No one in your dreams are real, but you still are.
So the game takes place in Link's mind... So what's the point of this game then? What's the emotional payoff except 'le epic it's all in his mind!!' twist? Why not just make the next Zelda game about Link falling asleep while taking a shit on the toilet and then spend a couple of hours playing a story that doesn't matter. The ending is Link waking up and wiping his ass. The end.
>Literally every game that takes place outside of Hyrule has the best setting
What gives?
No, the game takes place in the Wind Fish's mind. Link wakes him up.
>PH
If Link hadn't woken up he would have eventually slipped into the sea and drowned.
If he didn't wake up things would only continue to get more nightmarish and eventually it would probably just be pitch black nothing.
the entire game was link fighting to stay alive after he was knocked unconscious when his ship crashed. His journey to the windfish is him awakening from his state of unconsciousness (comatose)
shit
