Well that sucks. Not that I could afford it but I could have at least started getting the stuff separately.
Whens the next batch?
Valve is the best company in the world
The sales of this VR set alone is enough to rise against the revenue of Fortnite BR's yearly income
What is Epic Games going to do now, get fucked chinese pigs
GOD BLESS BASED LORD GABEN
by making a cult
there's no next batch, you snooze you lose
wait for the consumer edition which will be 50% cheaper but much more stable at the end of 2019
>Steam drones
The stock was probably pretty small to gauge interest before committing. It's standard practice really.
I AM VR READY BABY BRING IT ON
I guess VR isn't dead after all huh
It's almost like you fags have no idea what you're talkin about
why do people still care about this dead meme
This but ironically
They only made 10 units.
Why not?
I've already bought Godus and founded Star Citizen on kickstarter so I can as well buy VR while I waste my money.
I don't think they had many to begin with, valve is manufacturing these themselves.
It's not even available in a lot of countries including mine, which sucks because I really want one.
Valve-drones
Other than VR chat and simulations VR has zero use in video games.
Just like the 3D meme it will never be more than a passing fad for people with more money than braincells.
That's great Valve. Announce fucking Half-Life already damnit.
This wasn't my first rodeo. I was waiting, credit card in hand for the clock to strike the hour and got an order in 7 minutes after they went Live. 10 minutes later it was already sold out, have fun waiting for months fags.
Bet a bunch of rich scalpers bought like 10 bundles to sell for 2k each during the drought.
Only the full set has sold out.
You can still buy everything else individually.
>Whens the next batch?
Shipping says July 31 for the Reserves, but depending on how long people take to order it'll likely take months.
This. No reason to get early tech unless you're a developer or have so much expendable income that a grand is nothing.
brand loyalty is a religion by this point
Skyrim VR is amazing
go ahead and shout "TECH DEMOS!", like a good little poorfag
based retard
What makes Index better than the other headsets out there?
I wonder what I should play first when the Index arrives.
>EVERYONE BUT ME IS MOTIVATED BY BRAND LOYALTY
Getting tired of this shitposting. People are allowed to like things despite what companies were involved with it.
It's shiny and I want it
What will be the launch titles?
>all those tech demos
Gal-gun
He said the word! Say it again!
multiple resolutions, much higher frame rate ceilings, improved tracking, superior controllers, better FoV,
Blade runner 9732 of course, good job grabbing that while it lasted.
Really though I'll probably play H3VR for 50 more hours and wait for boneworks and HLVR.
Is Arkham vr good, vr user?
wider field of view, better resolution and pixel density, apparently the highest refresh rate of any of the available VR headsets I believe (144 Hz)
and the controllers are basically VR gloves with finger tracking
where are all the poorfags now?
The knuckles and the insane refresh rate
Also the near the ear headphones are a novelty
>have over 2300 hours on VR (none on VRchat mind you)
>Oculus Rift
>want to get index because the controllers are fucking great
>incompatible with Oculus
>have to spend a grand
Fuck.
>no games
>Passing fad
>Goes for several years without anything but increase in sales and saturation
lol.
Almost as pathetic as those that said higher than 60hz monitors were a fad. Or Before that the multicore cpus were a fad and we would be back to single core in no time. Too fucking retarded to see the obvious.
I am concerned that The Valley of the Gods is going to be one of the launch titles, which pretty much means I'm only going to care about the other two.
I'm on the edge of buying the controllers but are there actually any upcoming games that will use them to their full potential other than Boneworks?
>better resolution than og vive/rift
>lcd screens = more subpixels = less sde
>double lens setup for bigger sweetspot
>larger fov
>120hz refreshrate, 144hz experimental
>superior sound solution
refreshrate and headphones are the biggest things for me desu
This is the consumer version. Everything about this, knuckles aside, is prior tech we already had. The base stations are HTC/Valve 2.0 stations (which are 1.0 with a few tweaks). The HMD is things we have seen for years now, with LCD screens instead. The Knuckles are the only thing remotely new, and only one part of them is actually new.
don't the Oculus controllers have some amount of finger tracking themselves?
just the pointer and thumb, which 99% of VR games don't utilize
You can probably sell the Oculus
Price is really the factor for VR, so the used market is probably running wild for headsets
Poor people will always be funny. But now that even poor people are getting into VR, buying used and all... what does that make this moron?
It's "Good for what it is", it demonstrates how some of the Arkham games could work in VR but there ain't much meat to it. Maybe get on a steep Sale.
Couldn't care less bout the headset since I have a vive but the controllers sold me, whenever i can get them, i will
You can always do your own person R&D with it, you know.
I don't consider myself wealthy, but even I have an interest in seeing what VR can achieve. Standard controllers have been basically perfected, so now I want to see how this can be improved. Certainly not as bad as the fucking Virtual Boy.
if I want to sell my Rift, how much would a good price range be? I got 2 controllers that aren't wack, 3 sensors, and a headset with cover
My rift CV1 looked like complete ass, after 300 hours I never got used to the SDE or low res and everything looked disgusting hindering my enjoyment.
Is 1400*1600 with the better subpixel arrangement going to be enough for me to not be disgusted when looking down iron sights in H3?
The lenses are also different. They allow you to actually look around with your eyes and it apparently gets rid of the godrays/light smear. Not as good as eye tracking, but its definitely something new.
Afaik only the bundle is sold out
Bought the vive 9 months ago and then this shit is announced, guess I'll be only buying the controllers
$279?
you're lucky considering there are people that bought Oculus. Vive is compatible with index controllers, not Oculus.
Fuck, I'll still need 800+ bucks to get the Index. I'll just wait it out for now I guess
>"NOOOO YOU SUPPOSEDA WAIT FO EPIC VR ANNOUSMENT! IT BE MUCH BETTA WITH FREE GAME OF VR PUBLICE RESTEROOM!"
~2 months
What happened to foveated rendering and eye tracking is it another meme that they won't bother with until gen 3? If this is gen 2 it's disappointing as fuck
>more expensive not cheaper as anons predicted
>iterative shit where the only decent advancement seems to be controllers
>archaic ergonomics
>no wireless
>no big valve game (they had 6+ years to make it and still only putting out tech demo shit and relying on other devs shit like boneworks) correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this pretty fucking disappointing?
Wtf is going on with the lack of pc vr games yet consoles and even mobile have endless vidya even if it's trash
Because it's some fucking gay shit they didn't even make or will probably be bone works they'll just buy more devs like they always do and let the games die
It took you an entire week to finish vr? Jfc the absolute state
Where did u pirate them from? I'm hoping to find a cheap oddesy plus
Ausfag here life is pain even used sets are $$$
Imagine mordhau in vr
It's already fucking amazing in ultra wide I can't wait to get stuck into it once the servers are fixed
What list? My only interest was playing some car and flight sims but I Cbf honestly it just doesn't have enough killer apps and like user said you can burn through it all in a week.
Plus I'm Aussie so they vr player base is in the hundreds overall and fuck all games to play online.
>what is 5g
I thought index was 120hz 2880x1600x144hz max
Besides a 100fov is tiny as fuck my 21:9 does 90-100 and still looks like tunnel vision in fps
nvidia rtx sold poorly, yet at the start all pre-purchases had been sold out.
Ha, more like valley of niggers
>Play VR multiplayer
>Say the magic words
>999$ stolen
It's probably going to be. The reveal looked almost like they made it for First perspective VR and we haven't seen anything since Valve bought them: youtube.com
Another one is going to be Half Life VR.
What's the third title?
Artifact VR
Probably Portal
Gal-gun
I'm immigrating to the united states so I can fucking buy one of these, the green card process is probably cheaper and faster than buying one in Australia.
Skyrim anything is garbage
even skyrims main use - as an engine for sex mods is garbage
I FUCKIMG MISSED IT. I GOD DAMNED OVERSLEPT. FUCK WORKING THIRD SHIFT.
Other than the artstyle, seems like it'd be alright. The only great exploration type game in VR is that I've seen is Jet Island
Dodged a bullet, user
it's called artificial scarcity to create hype by making people think they already sold hundreds of thousands of headsets when the first batch was only 1k worldwide lmao.
how are your steam machine and steam link doing, OP?
Bought the knuckles and nothing else.
Base Station and HMD are both increments from previous gens.
same, i can live with the slightly lower fidelity of the vive for a bit longer but holy shit ive been eager for a decent controller to replace these shitty wands
I'm ok with this, I have to save up for it anyways.
I don't want to dip into my savings.
I actually can't imagine being braindead enough to spend 300 bucks on those fucking controllers.
If they were 150 for the set, maybe. I certainly wouldn't be buying them, but I can see hardcore VR players picking them up for the incredibly minor benefit they offer.
But 300? Buying the fucking headset is only 500. That's a dumb upgrade too, but it's nowhere near as dumb as paying 300 dollars for fucking analog sticks. I honestly can't wait for a week after launch when the novelty wears off, and people start realising that strapping your controllers to your hands isn't actually a good idea, and that finger tracking is the biggest gimmick they've ever bought into. The buyers remorse is going to be insane, and it might just tank reception of the whole product.
Troll, blood elf or goblin hunter?
the absolute state of TORtanicfags.
>sold out and topping sales in less than an hour
imagine living after being THIS wrong
hope my shitty vive dildoes don't die before there's a new stock of controllers
People are gonna give you a list of things that seem like they're better, but they're really not.
The only "better" thing is the Knuckles which will work with the VIVE.
The higher resolution won't stop text from being difficult to read or things getting blurry past a certain distance near/far.
The wider FOV is nice, but not really worthwhile
Anyone who says better tracking is legit retarded because it's still using the two base stations from the VIVE which already has practically perfect tracking
The higher refresh rate is the absolute dumbest thing to get excited about consodering most VR titles won't even hit the 90fps goal on 2080's and i7's.
Those excited about the Sound just don't like wearing headphones, wireless headphones, or simply $5 earbuds. It's still only going to be Stereo sound.
Should you spend $1000 on this when you can get a used VIVE for under $400 and MAYBE get the controllers for $280? Absolutely fucking not.
The only time you should get a new headset is if they finally come out with one that has real eye-tracking and the shit that dynamically changes your Depth of Field depending on what you're looking at.
Kill yourself Sonytard.
$1000 and only one game
>he doesn't have the senran kagura vr game
user...
theyre the same price as 2 vive wands and are the best controllers you can get if you have a steamvr/base station type vr setup even if finger tracking adoption is low. 270 is steep but makes sense given the current market for steamvr controllers
I would have bought it if only it was available here
>senran kagura vr
Since when does this exist?
I didn't think they were so bad for Beat Saber, but they did klonk into each other while reloading in Pavlov a few times.
Looking at Boneworks further made me want the knuckles, but I know a lot of people would use them in VRChat, which I haven't played yet since I intend to learn how to implement my MMO model into the game before trying the game.
Peach Ball has VR now.
literally influenced me to get VR. RIP dick
lol. Yesterday everyone here was saying how over priced this is and that no one would buy it. .
Sold out in less than an hour. There is a big market for adults with good jobs and plenty of disposable cash. Why are people on here so jealous of people with enough cash to buy this thing?
Only thing I care about is the Knuckles.
I have a Vive already but I really want those remotes
>Sold out in less than an hour.
yeah, because all ten units they made were bought up by the biggest valve drones. now it's on to the next flop for valve.
Vive is compatible with the controllers so you can just buy the controllers only
>>theyre the same price as 2 vive wands
For 300 bucks you can get a fucking FULL VIVE SETUP.
So no, it's not the same price as 2 vive wands.
Oh, I have that game and vr, I totally forgot to try it since at the time the update broke all the nude mods.
Wasn't it only the changing room that got it tho? I wish full games would start tacking vr on. I remember when squad had vr by accident because devs forgot to disable it in unreal, and yet it will still pretty damn good.
new dummy, why would i compare used prices with a product that isnt even out yet
>>he doesn't have the senran kagura vr game
Isn't that just a model viewer Mode?
Why would I buy a model viewer?
youtube.com
youtube.com
I generally have a feeling that most Japs don't really seem to understand VR, since they're usually offering these kind of retarded "Modes" for a lot of their games.
so. what games can you play on this thing?
gayest, most incel shit ever.
Because used prices is what this thing is actually competing with? HTC are just price fixing, which is why it's funny that Valve is sticking to that same bullshit pricing.
The new lighthouses cost less to make than ever, and yet they're retailing for the same price as the old 1.0 ones. It's a fucking joke, it's not possible to defend this level of greed.
should i buy risk of rain now, since gearbox is in bed with these faggots? I didn't want to buy the game until full release because I didn't want to get burned out by then and not feel like playing.
>Not available for purchase until August 31
You told me this would flop Yea Forums.
the rate of Yea Forums getting a prediction right is 1/1000 you fucking idiot.
This board is just doomsaying until something sinks
except literally nobody cared about 3D TVs
Outrage culture at it's finest
Yea Forums loves to overreact
Artificial shortage to create hype
based mordhau
It has eye tracking too.
patentimages.storage.googleapis.com
Probably by having a limited first run. Underproducing is a lot cheaper than overproducing. Valve has never sold a VR headset before so it is pretty hard to gauge how many people want it.
So you do a smaller first batch and adjust your second batch based on demand.
I was too, then Valve denied my purchase and told me to contact Steam Support. The product was sold out minutes later, meanwhile I'm still waiting on a response as to why Valve refused to take my money for the product.
Don't worry, they will just cope by saying only 20 were produced.
Promise me you fags get Pavlov. It's the best multiplayer game out there on VR and its 10 fucking bucks.
TTT mode is the most fun multiplayer experience I've ever had on VR
MUH SCARCITY
>incel
Why is nu-Yea Forums so shit, bros? We got these wanna be self assured larp Chads shitting on the real Yea Forums lads. These are the normie casuals that are ruining Yea Forums.
Under-producing isn't really possible for this shit, I'm betting they've already bought all the tooling, so if they make less than 100k units or so they don't even recoup the manufacturing costs, let alone the R&D.
The "sold out" status is pure marketing 101. Very stupid people are easily led to believe that a product is in hot demand if they see a screen telling them they can't buy it, and in a week when Valve announces that pre-orders are up for the "second batch", it'll magically sell out in an hour again.
There's a reason they hired half a dozen economists and psychologists. It's to do bullshit like this.
Scalpers
>product released by the company who owns the store front just happens to hit the top sellers list
Honestly though, I'd be inclined to believe this, Mordhau sold like dogshit so there was hardly any competition.
The August 31st thing actually seems like the third wave, I wonder just how big each one is.
I clicked reserve just after it sold out because who knows, maybe I'll want one in a few months and there's no purchase obligation, and mine is listed for July 31st. Might not even buy it, but that's just my observation.
With the giant fucking banner that is already on the store's front page they have very little to gain by faking the top seller list, you know.
They have a custom production line thing that they can configure to produce and assemble the hardware they need.
It's not like they are doing this on an industrial scale.
Thanks for proving me right, incel.
A banner is actually far less enticing than a list telling you other people are buying something, though. Honestly, do people here not have any fucking idea about psychology?
Custom production requires custom tooling, which only becomes cost efficient after a certain number of sold orders. The time lag might well not be completely artificial given how pitiful Valve's construction has been in the past, but the shortage and the wording they're using for it absolutely is.
There's no point fucking with their store features considering how much damage it would do it if was ever revealed that it is meaningless.
I don't know why this is so surprising if any half-way successful game manages to get on there on release day.
It's literally just based on "what sold the most in the last x hours"
If the bundle stays in the stop spot despite being sold out for the next week then you might have a point.
They did say very limited supply, they made like 5 of them
whatever helps you cope
I could understand it being a hit if it was released with hlvr or a vr portal game but with nothing..I just dont get it
>have limited stock
>sell out
>hype builds because everyone wants one as it's sold out
Oldest trick in the book. Worked wonders for Apple.
index is not a mass product though
Do I get my headset early if I actually got in on the pre-order or do I have to wait until the 31st like everyone else on the reserve list?
>sold out in a few hours
>"d-dead meme!"
LMAOing@seething poorfags
All the oculus headsets sold out instantly too. Man vr sure is ded!
If you ordered it before the sold out message it will ship by June 28
>$499 x 20
>beating Fortnite
Release batch for June 28 sold out in 21 minutes.
Two batches for July 31 and now August 31 took a few hours.
If I know anything from the Oculus and Vive Pre-sales, people that are ordering 2-3 days later are going to have to wait 5-6 months because they'll likely not be able to produce them fast enough to cover demand.
what tech company ever competes with second hand pricing for 3 year old hardware? i guess microsoft should sell new xbox one controllers for $10 because i can get a 360 controller for that price on ebay, they should learn how to competition clearly
i agree with the lighthouse shit though, real dipshit move to admit theyre only better because theyre cheaper to produce and then do a 180 and sell them for more than the other ones
youtube.com
Soon boys
Important question, will hardware be subject to steam regional pricing?
WOW, ARTIFICIAL SCARCITY
LITERALLY OKAY WHEN VALVE DOES IT
:^)
Just get a fucking quest.
>people laughed and made fun of oculus for being 600 dollars back in 2016
>people run out and get a 1000 dollar vr set 3 years later
people didn't know exactly what they were buying back in 2016
because its no longer a fad. It's now the future
VR is actually good whereas in 2016 the best was fucking google cardboard
I wanna get into VR but I'm not $1000 curious. Probably get a Rift S or a regular Rift.
>VAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALVE
If you're curious go WMR.
I had a CV1 and the software it installed on my computer was so insufferable that I can't recommend it to anyone ever.
Greetings Organics. I can see that you all have taken a seat. This is only the beginning, I'll see you at E3.
>poverty edition facebook headset
>video title is in spanish
lol
>not available in your country
why do they hate my money?
