Pic related Occidental Heroes is the only native game I seriously play. It's turned-based and pretty relaxed, with quite a bit of challenge once in a while.

All other games I played were emulated or ports: mostly MGS Peace Walker, Yoshi's Island, Mario Kart, Secret of Mana, Ecco the Dolphin, and I'm also a big fan of the little known GBA series "bit Generation" which really are smartphone games to the core, and that I'm quite fond of.

I played that a bit last year, but unfortunately my attention span was garbage and I went to more action oriented stuff. I always feel a deficient when faced with games like this: They clearly had a lot of thought and care put in to their mechanics, but I'm so used to flashy stuff that I can't get in to them.

Even so, I always keep a Z-Machine interpreter on hand just in case I actually play a text adventure, and I keep Hoplite in mind too.

Siralim 3 is a mastapeece, one of the best DQM clones ever. It's basically a monster collecting game with no level cap, deep customization, no rng, and lots of challenges, comboes, and team comps to set up.

It's a solid game with a nice combat system. The story set up is kind of goofy and may grate, especially if you listen to the dub.

I've just been playing Tetris. I've got some Pokémon Roms too but Tetris is easy to pick up and put down.

Granblue was fun for me until I had to actually manage whatever the fuck the weapon system is. I shouldn't have to read a wiki just to find which weapons I can break down and which I should keep.

They all turn into a numbers game like that after a certain point, I've tried a lot of gacha and it always turns into some abstract management game once you get to a certain level where you have to manage a bunch of items/gear/characters/etc.

That was probably the worst format of all time. There's still broken shit and archetypes that won't die, but afaik sword, shadow, blood, and dragon are all viable in rotation right now.
