It makes me feel like ligma
ligma balls
I don't care about metacritic
oot is very shit
the only people who give a damn about it are nintendo fans and journalists and also nostalgia goggles wearing people
play it right now and you will see how awful it is
why would I care about review score?
Who gives a fuck about metacritics.
Kys reddit faggot.
Makes me feel that it's deserved.
nobody cares about this gay little game
Makes me think Video games are a failed medium
Real question is, who even reply this game or even played it.
This game is before my time, is it even worth the praise
ooc was a product of its time and there are many games with almost the same formula
pic related was better
What's ligma? XDDD
Nothing. It aged like shit but literally revolutionized 3d adventure games
seems like a fair score, only real flaw with the game is the iron boot swapping
She deserved it
Seething Sony cucks
Seething FOMO boomers
Seething contrarians and mental retard shitters like Hanson
Best game of all time, seethe until the end of time as it ages like wine and you rot at the seams.
LIGMA BALLZ xDDDD
LMFAO EPIC MY FRIEND XD
>How does it make you feel?
It doesn't. The real question is why the fuck do you care so much?
I feel like Tiananmen Square Massacre of 1989.
>FOMO
???
>zoomer that played oot 10 years later
fuck off
*zoomers
It deserves a 100. Played it for the first time three years ago and it became my second favorite game. I've 100 percent completed it three times and I still can't get enough of it
Pretty okay. It's better than like a call of duty game getting that treatment.
Oh nice I get to play OoT again. Can't wait.
Fear of missing out, look it up.
It's basically sour grapes for someone who missed a trend or event
Not him but I was born in 1991 and I don't like ocarina at all.
It's accurate.
I wish I could play more adventure games and rpgs that were made by people who've played this game and understood what makes it and majora's mask so awesome.
>Equipment needs to be precious, it needs to be a game changer, and it needs to have utility and combat purposes.
>Side content needs to be as meaningful and detailed as the main story.
>The world needs to feel big and scary at first, opening up as you become stronger and collect more ways to move through it.
This the ultimate Nintendo bonus.
Hotline Miami is the only game ever created deserving 10/10.
It makes me feel like I am 100% correct when I say that critic scores are meaningless and arbitrary.
No. Fear of missing out describes people who get into something just because everyone else is. It's bandwagon hopping.
i played it when it came out, dear user
it is very shit
While OoT has plenty of issues, it's definitely the strongest 3D Zelda as an overall package. There's no glaring omissions, the content and structure is pretty solid. Its sequels are all lacking something huge and/or have unnecessary gimmicks that taint the experience.
I think if Nintendo actually tried and made a no-bullshit proper 3D Zelda, they could outdo OoT easily. Maybe the next game will do it, but I have a feeling they will either double down on BotW's flaws or introduce yet another shitty gimmick.
Also Metacritic is fucking garbage and anyone who takes it seriously should unironically kill themselves.
>Played it for the first time three years ago and it became my second favorite game.
You need to play more good games, then. OoT is not actually that good compared to games that came after it. It was revolutionary at the time, but it's been outdone a dozen times over by now.
This is a joke right?
The game is a burry polygon mess, I couldn’t play 10 minutes of it
But it's not better than the witcher 3™
Remember, the witcher 3™ is the greatest game ever made, the dlc are the best ones you'll ever see and there wont be any game as good as the witcher 3™ in the next 40 years
That 99 means nothing because it's not the witcher 3™
literally play this:
it predates oot by a year and is a better game
it has everything you just asked for and more
Black panther video game would get 100 if it was made by black transexual game developers
It proves ratings are a product of the time and metastatic is fucking stupid.
That shouldn't be a feeling. It should be common knowledge.
I tried to get into OOT but I've dropped it. Kinda makes me left out how people say this game is the best video game ever. If I played the game when it came out and when it was revolutionary, I would praise this game to death maybe.
I'm glad BotW doesn't have a perfect 100 cuz that games sucks.
Is it worth playing the previous games?
>post about an old game
>Yea Forums: ITS SO SHIT LOL FUCKING TRASH
>rightfully call OOT trash
>Yea Forums: OMG, IT WAS A PRODUCT OF ITS TIME, OK?
>post about an old game
>Yea Forums: SOUL
>wrongfully call OOT trash

fixed
le contrian retard
Please tell us of 3D games with the same level of polish as OOT from the same year or prior. I'm waiting.
>99 on metacritic
>N64 version has less than 30 reviews
nintentards
only bad thing about OoT is the framerate
>rightfully
No
It makes me feel like whoever did those ratings stopped playing games 18 years ago.
the one for SNES is really good but play the N64 one first since its the only one that plays like OoT
the others are different genres and most of them are untranslated
>>/vr/
Get off the Internet grandpa
The N64 Goemon is the only one like it in the series and doesn't really require you to be familiar with any of the others. Play the SNES game too though, it's great.
>Ocarina of Ass
>polish
Wew lad. Super Mario 64 came out two years before OoA and makes Zorlda look like an Atari 2600 tech demo. Take off your nostalgia goggles, kiddo.
like pottery
It deserves such praise.
I don't particularly feel anything. Even though I'm mostly PC/PS4 this gen I have fond memories of playing OoT with my father 20 years ago.
>brainlet can't look past the framerate
Henry Ford made a bajillion dollars selling Model-T's, because it was the right car for the time. Would I say the Model-T is the best car ever made? No, but I do agree it was great back then. There's been a lot of time since then, though, and better cars have been produced. Like NieR:Automata.
I'm fine with Ocarina's framerate but there was no reason to not have Dodongo's Cavern and Jabu-Jabu be linear, the game's replayability would expand a ton if they let you do them in either order like with the Fire and Water temples
>like 20 reviews
>from fanboys
Yeah you got called a faggot right on cue.
Cope
NieR: Automata is a pretty nice car, yeah.
Happy, as the game deserves it.
I see threads with you niggers clamouring over and feasting on metacritic scores for games constantly, why is this the exception?
Video game is such a laughable media.
From left to right
>Wind Waker
>Skyward Sword
>A Link to the Past
>NES Zelda
>Ocarina of Time
>Minish Cap
>Twilight Princess
tfw you recognize all these fags based only on subtle differences in their hair and eyes
ESLfags are laughable people.
Mario 64 is a vastly simpler game in terms of graphical fidelity. Yes it's a physics playground, but otherwise it's far less complicated a game than OOT.
You have no arguments and seem like an idiot. The only games on par with OOT on terms of playability in that game were probably things like Tomb Raider, Megaman Legends and Goemon. Each could be great but had caveats. They're more primitive. OOT set the foundation of what modern games play like and you have no argument. OOT's issue is the lack of content and challenge compared to LTTP.
Based
I personally only got to play it for the first time back in 2012, and I frigging loved it. Never got to try it out back inna day as I was a Sony kid.
da da dun dum dowww
>not pictured: BotW link pretending to take the photo but actually taking a selfie of his beautiful face, hey gorgeous
Twilight Princess is every bit as good as Ocarina of Time, imo. People just don't like it because it takes a long time to get going, the story is intrusive, the wolf sections are obnoxious and all the dungeon items are only used within their own dungeon.
Was a great game for its time. I bet it probably holds up well even by today's standards.
That's what I mean by gimmicks that taint the experience. If it didn't have the tears of light sections, the second half was more non-linear, and the difficulty was slightly higher, it would be better.
bet you can't say "reggin" backwards ;)
Having recently replayed it on Dolphin, let me tell you, it does hold up.
I prefer Goemon, but that's really just personal taste. I thought the world, characters, and magic were cooler.
Plus it had the hookshot in the form of Goemon's chain pipe before Zelda had it. Either way, OoT was more a sound game on the technical side, as Mystical Ninja did have a couple glitches.
Get at me when somebody makes a romhack of OoT with mech battles, though.
OoT in 1998 was about as revolutionary as a game has ever been. You can definitely see an argument for it being a 99 in 1998. Obviously it's been copied and outdone in many ways since then, but judging stuff out of context is fucking stupid. I don't think you can say it's the "best" game of all time but it definitely has an argument for being one of the greatest
I love LttP but does OoT really have significantly less content? LttP has a couple more dungeons but OoT's are more distinct. I think they both hit the sweet spot in terms of content. Maybe you're referring to LttP's dark world having a lot more changes than OoT's adult world.
Art is different from products that have some objective utility.
Compare Citizen Kane to The Avengers; one is objectively more advanced in the technical aspects, yet the other is the superior film.
We may have games today with more advanced graphics and sound, but Ultima IV is still the greatest game ever made.
these is a hookshot in the SNES Zelda you zoomer
>OOT set the foundation of what modern games play like and you have no argument
Other than later Zelda games, what games play like Ocarina of Time?
Betacritic is fucking idiotic. It was good in it's time but the game aged poorly. Nowadays standards it is a 90 at most
I think entertainment has different standards than a car. Model T is inefficient today because the needs of consumers have drastically changed. You probably can't drive that on a busy expressway, as you'll probably get hif by someone going 80 to 90 mph. It probably demands a lot more maintenance then the cars of today, and it probably can't get gasoline from modern station pumps.
Meanwhile entertainment like Gone With the Wind can still be enjoyed to this very day. Provided something isn't a buggy, shitty mess with bad mechanics, a video game from.1996 or so can still be played today. The Model T is just obsolete. It literally could not function in today's society.
Citizen Kane is not better than The Avengers, by any metric. Only hack frauds would say Citizen Kane is better.
Any game that has an enemy targeting system
im not a zoomer faggot but i totally forgot so disregard that i suck cock
Probably every action-adventure game from the year 2000 on takes *some* inspiration from OoT, but there's a number of games that are obviously quite similar to OoT.
Off the top of my head,
Okami
Fable
Darksiders
Dark Souls
Beyond Good and Evil
>Meanwhile entertainment like Gone With the Wind can still be enjoyed to this very day.
Have you actually seen the acting in old movies? It's cringeworthy at best.
Pretty solid choice. Makes me feel satisfied I guess?
That's just one small aspect of the game though. By that logic, couldn't you say the same thing about SM64? That it set the foundation because any game with a controllable 3rd person camera plays like it.
In reality, no single game set the foundation, a lot of games contributed little pieces that kept getting built upon.
>comparing avengers with actual cinema
kys
>playing the soulless version
Yes I've seen movies like The Birds and The Haunting 1963. I don't see anything cringeworthy.
The same thing I felt when I played the OG LOZ and Majora's Mask.
That Zelda is overrated as fuck.
I liked it. Managed to 100% the original and masterquest without a walk through, but the cows in jabu jabu and the sand temple took me a while to figure out. I think I had to do a few weird bombchu tricks to get through the sand temple
The acting is stiff and everything happens at a snail's pace. How is that fun?
That it would be a fun game to review bomb if anyone could.
I wouldn't say that. The way the kids reacted to the birds chasing them seemed very real. What did you want them to do exactly? Tear their own hair out of their skulls? There's a pointed which you can overact.
>it's been copied and outdone in many ways
By whom?
When I listen to these music, I always felt I can never go back to the days that used to be, and myself as a kid.
There is no games that gives me the same feeling other than OOT.
I still remember the first experience and surprise the game offers at the time when I played it, perfect and total immersion.
Glad it's not a phone game.
>OoT in 1998 was about as revolutionary as a game has ever been
In what way?
the only reason its not 100% is because it runs at 20fps rather than 30
makes me feel like sugdez
Graphics have absolutely nothing to do with how good a game is.
It's undeniably overrated, a good game, but overrated.
wow, it must hurt to be such a contrarian retard
Niggas
If graphics if what make you judge a game you're the cancer of video games
It means oot caused the biggest innovative jump in gaming history.
Best game of all time. ALTTPfags need to be gassed.
>Thread where someone claims that an old game thats considered good is only done so because of nostalgia
>Point out that you have only played it for the first time recently and still find it to be very good.
This happens with me every time someone mentions deus ex, and I'm willing to bet its true for someone else for OoT.
Name a few adventure games that you consider to be better than OoT
Critic ratings on games before the year 2000 don't matter
Just ended a 100% completion run on DS. Still fun.
fine
Why spoiler? I'm pretty sure miyazaki said Zelda was his main inspiration besides berserk
This is easily true for both games in my case
There still aren't games with good 3D level design like OoT.
20 years after OoT There's still no game that does 3D level design like nintendo does. Only From software and Arkane games come relatively close to it.
Majoras Mask was the better game
It was though.
>oot is very shit
It's like listening to child trying to convince me The French Connection is a bad movie. Continue being irrelevant.
>having your own opinion is being contrarian
bitch OoT isnt even the best Zelda game
try thinking for yourself sometime
radiohead is fucking shit
What is the best Zelda game?
LttP, of course.
It was either the oracle series or link’s awakening
my personal favorite is Wind Waker but i'm a sucker for island environments and sympathetic villains
objectively? probably A Link to the Past
you're free to say "wow shit lmao retard" but it means nothing if you dont give your own opinion
I would have dropped it to a 98 for not having a reticle for archery, especially in that gauntlet minigame. I stuck a piece of game to the middle of my television to make a reticle in order to beat that minigame. This was back when you could do that to a TV without the screen shattering like a liberal's ego during the 2016 election.
What makes LttP so special when is basically OoT in 2D with less content? People shit on OoT calling nostalgia googles but i think the same applies to LttP.
LttP is the Dark Souls of Zelda tbqh famalamadingdong
It's better then God Of War and Undertale. So yeah, i'd say it deserves it.
But that's before subtracting the Nintendo Bonus and the Nostalgia Multiplier.
>reddit letter media
Of course you'd have a pleb opinion.
NOOOOOO
DELETE THIS THREAD RIGHT NOW!!!!
objectively wrong
>lttp is the dark souls of zelda and not the game that literally pioneered the gameplay darksouls is built on
lttp brainlets for you
Why is everybody out for Ocarina's blood when this game should be attacked and maimed? Skyward Sword has no fucking right to be titled as a "Masterpiece" from critics.
I only give a fuck about metacritic scores when its sony games
ur wrong
deal w/ it
Holy shit
t.zoomer who played OoT Decades after release
It makes me feel like reminding you that sales are all that matter in the long run, not reviews written by fat neckbeards trying to lazily piggyback off the industry.
and pointing this out:
>Sonic series: 123 million units sold
>Zelda series: 91 million units sold
Yes, the SNES has four games and they are all really good. 2 in particular is my personal favorite.
youtube.com
zelda fan base seething
Source on that?
Sonic has been multiplat for nearly 20 years, and considered a complete joke of a franchise for almost as long
>it and MM are still the only 3D Zeldas to translate dungeon complexity from 2D to 3D properly
>pioneered targeting in 3D action games
>story is just the right amount of cinematic without being the bullshit we get today in Western games
It deserves it desu
>it and MM are still the only 3D Zeldas to translate dungeon complexity from 2D to 3D properly
Twilight Princess did a pretty good job too, wolf gimmicks aside.
a piece of shit I never finished
>listening to game "journalists" ever.
Websites back then often had reviewers review games in a 'category'. The same reviewers would review fps, rpgs and Nintendo games for each site. Most games from this time have really favourable reviews because of this.
Reminder that it would have only taken a few reviews giving Fallout New Vegas a marginally better score to get it past 85.
Is oot really one of the top ten games ever made or are people afraid to not give it a perfect score?
reminder hl1, oot and mgs ruined gaming forever.
1998 was one of the worst gaming years.
No, their sequels are the ones that ruined gaming forever.
>than like
"Yikes!"
wrong zoomer
Nah, I love TP but dungeon gimmicks are never consistently a progression of regular gameplay. Twin Hookshots, the Spinner and the Ball and Chain go absolutely nowhere. It's like every other dungeon tool/system is as pointless as the MegaTon Hammer.
It spearheaded basically every element of modern 3D adventure/action games at a point where 3D gaming at all was still pretty new. I'd say it holds up.
As someone who played it back then, wait until you played it 20+ times. MM was better in retrospective and still fun to play again. OoT will remain as a highlight of Nintendo history but I cant stand it anymore
>Sonic has been multiplat for nearly 20 years
Doesn't matter. Hasn't pushed other industry staples like RE and Tomb Raider over 100 million sold unlike Sanic.
>and considered a complete joke of a franchise for almost as long
But objectively speaking (because sales are the only real metric of popularity) more people care about it than Legend of Zzzzz. And the upcoming movie is bound to increase that gap. Of course it won't be good, but if movies had to be good to draw ticket buys there would be no industry.
playing it right now and it's literally the best game ever
But what you said can also be applied to the hammer, the lens of truth, the golden gauntlets, the elemental arrows and the pegasus boots. They don't have much use outside of their intended dungeons.
Mario 64 has just as much merit as far as 3D goes, you would think it would receive the same score for refining 3D platforming in such a way that a bunch of games tried to copy it later.
Sonicfags really are desperate aren't they?
Enjoy your deflection and moving the goalposts user
Rareware did it...once
>Zeldatard seething
People lie, numbers don't faggot.
>moving the goalposts
you clearly don't know what that means, it's inapplicable to this discussion
1998 was shitty year for gaming
yes
Imagine being so insecure about your favourite game's near-perfect score being challenged that you react like this to facts.
just increase the resolution
It annoys me because now that “geek/internet/nerd culture” is main stream every fag goes on and on about OOT and MM and how amazing they are. I get it, they’re good games, but can we fucking talk about the oracle games for once? How about the original Zeldas masterquest? I really love the series, how it’s been amorphous. But all fags wanna do is slob on OOTs and MMs knob.
imagine liking a game that ruined gaming
Skipping time is the best video game mechanic of all time and every game that has it deserves all the positivity it gets. And no, time travel is garbage and has nothing to do with time skips.
The Oracle games are shit. Too linear, built around a gimmick. The birth of modern, crappy Zelda.
Ootfags tell themselves that "games age" and that "you needed to have played it at the time" ignoring old games that still feel amazing even if you played it for the first time last week, like Deus Ex, System Shock 2, fucking Tetris.
Kind of annoyed. Why did you need that text in the image? Why couldn't you just type it out?
I played Deus Ex for the first time 3 years ago, it has aged horribly.
SS2 is bad thought and didn't age all too well
> thread about Zelda
> comes with Sonic shit as a way to get distracted from the horrible movie you gonna get
> gets pointed out that the franchise is being a shitshow for years to the point where they need fans to make a really good game
> "but it's okay because it's popular and makes more money!"
Enjoy your deflection guys, Ocarina it's not even my fav Zelda.
Here, a s o y Sonic, maybe this will help you guys change the focus of attention.
yikes
Deus ex is 10/10 but it's different when it comes to SS2
why?
>modern Yea Forums
>LttP has less content than OoT
Wanna know how I know you're a faggot?
Does that make Sekiro BotW?
Sekiro is Skyward Sword
>one weapon
>heavy focus on swordplay
>emphasis on story compared to previous games
>making a s o y sonic to btfo the haters
Unironic, genuine cringe.
>best game in the series
>the one that brought the series into mainstream fame
>worst game in the series
>hipster choice
>underrated gem
Holy shit, it fits.
This, played it for the first time in 7 years & it blew me away how amazing it looks for a game made in 1998, aside from the Unskippable cutscenes it's pretty much flawless
This never doesn't make me chuckle
the amount of people who defends oot and 1998 games is embarrassing. enjor your cinematic movies forever zoomers.
I played it for the first time in 2013 and it's not even close to awful, you god damn autist
Not the greatest game of all time, but still, suck my dick
Is DS3 that good? I really liked DS1 but got tired of DS2.
BotW outsold extremely overrated OoT and there's nothing you can do about it
>2018
>played oot for the first time
>it's the best thing I've played in a while
It's overrated but it deserves praise
That was a fun game but it's definitely not on the same level as oot. Ocarina of Time has better level design and world building and the soundtrack isn't even comparable. There still isn't a Zelda game to this day that can compare to oot's soundtrack.
And there's nothing at the time that felt as big or grand as Hyrule Field. It's the first 3D game that I know of that had that feeling of a huge open world even though it was mostly linear.
>and the soundtrack isn't even comparable.
Hold up. I'll give you the rest but Goemon 64's OST is fucking millenia above OoT.
There's no accounting for taste I guess but I don't think Goemon's ost is even that good personally. It's not bad, but it doesn't deserve a spot in the history books as one of the GOAT.
COPE, literally the best game of all time
who keeps making these
Journalists clearly
