All you really do in Extella Link is go to an enemy sector, kill dudes until the sector generals come out, and kill them to take it over. On top of that core, you'll have missions where you need to focus on killing certain servants or objects. Really, you could compare it to the DW Empires games where base taking is key. Especially when enemies will sometimes re-appear after beating them. Once you clear all the "missions" in a stage, the final boss will show up and you just kill them.

While this loop is pretty basic, blasting through mobs is pretty fun, depending on the character or even how much you like a character despite how they are. They shortened everyone's movesets a bit, but give you 4 active skills with cooldowns you can throw out. Some old charge attacks end up here, like Saber (OG)'s tornado thrust and the attack where she shoots out 5 waves. You got attack skills, some are buffs, some are counters.

All in all, if you like musous and Fate enough, it can be a nice time waster.
