The devs were aware of how unbalanced the end game could be but were so rushed that they couldnt do anything about it. The best they could do was add a few lines of dialogue throughout the game of people tellling you you need to learn to fight as well as talk tough because you can get in tough situations. I usually just play for the social elements and cheat the bosses because they are not fun at all. There are reasons people say this game is amazing but broken.

They didn't add the dialogue telling you to learn to fight because the end game was unbalanced. They did that because the game was never meant to be played 100% socially, and anyone who thinks it was just wasn't paying attention.

The only real issues IMO are the 3-headed monsters in the sewer and Ming Xiao, everything else is okay.

You can get through a lot of quests with stealth or dialogue but it's silly to expect to NEVER have to fight in this extra violent fictional universe.

I've never had to do this personally but its a common bug. This is apparently the work around.

Make sure to use the tilde ~ key to open and close the console, don't click the close button on it.

If it still freezes, type chareditor into the console and it will bring up your character sheet. Click accept to close the character sheet and you should be able to move again. This is what I use and I've never had a problem with it.

I kind of went through something similar where I spent a lot of time making music during a really rough time in my life, then switched to writing just like the composer said he did. I try to go back and make music sometimes but I just don't really have it in me now, and he said the same thing happened.

You see, I disagree with that. I kept waiting for a shitty sewer section around the time I got to Hollywood, but it never came. I went through them so fast that I doubt I spent more than an hour in the sewers my entire playthrough.

If you have already done that do a roleplay character e.g I once played through the game as Angel, I kept my humanity high and would never drink human blood only blood packs and rats

No matter what way you cut it the Warrens is a tedious dungeon crawl for everyone, there's nothing fun or interesting about any of it, on top of that there are puzzles to complete to get out, on top of that if you arent a combat focused character it can be very difficult, on top of that if you are a ventrue you can't feed from rats meaning there is literally no way to get blood down there.

Well in later interviews some of the devs said they knew the game needed more work, and it didn't ship how they wanted it. They just didn't have enough time to continue working on it, and then Activision putting the game out on the same day as HL2 killed the dev team.

It took me about an hour my first time too. I never really hated it like most other people seem to, but I did a gun build my first time which probably made it a lot better. Trying to kill the 3-headed things with melee sucks because they hit you just as fast as you hit them, unless you have Celerity.

Having to fight and having to maximize combat skills are two different things. You have to fight in nearly every RPG, yet, you don't need to level up as much combat training like in Bloodlines to even have a chance.

Why isn't there a mod to balance the game and make social playthroughs more doable? There are plenty of mods for this game, but none of them adress the most important flaw.

The sewers are bad, but I think the fan hate is a little bit exaggerated. It's fine as long as you have some investment in melee, it's just overstays its welcome and starts to feel like a slog compared to the more story-based highlights of the game.

Is the lack of blood really that much of an issue? I've finished the game as Ventrue and never ran out of blood, always had a solid stack of bloodbacks in my inventory. I only used those in the sewers and during the assault at the Chink lady and LaCroix mansions.

What I hope the most from VtM:B2 is a deeper and harder system for Masquerade violation. Having the 3 types "Elysium, Masquerade and Combat" is straight garbage for the game. Maybe it works in tabletop, I don't know, but for the video game it's awful. It makes no sense. So it's ok to start spewing blood and going invisible in the middle of a crowd of Kine, because you happen to be on a mission where violence has or will occur? Makes no sense.
The Masquerade violations should not take effect immediately but when bypassers see you do some bad shit and run away and start babbling about it. It's still no perfect, but it would be a massive improvement.
Combat zone? As long as you kill everyone or use disciplines to make sure they won't babble, you're good. If some of them run away and live to tell the tale, you're getting a violation. Maybe you can redeem it by quickly hunting the guy and taking care of it.

Some Windows update fucked the DRM check, so the game won't start without turning it back on or installing the Unofficial Patch.

If you install the Unofficial Patch, make sure you only select the basic version during installation. So many people complain in these threads about the game without realizing it was some bullshit added by the plus modded version.

Independent ending was a little awkward for me on my first run because I thought one of the main reasons to go for it was because Nines, the closest that the Downtown Anarchs had to a sympathetic leader, was presumed dead, and that they'd have no reason to believe that I wasn't to blame. But then he just shows up at the end, and it's like, "Oh hey Nines. Later."

It's okay. The combat is kind of jarring against the tone of the story and a bit repetitive, but easy to cheese. It has a lot of cool stuff going for it, but it's kind of a 6 or 7/10, wait for a sale game.
