Starforce

Amazing

Choose one. That battle system is garbage.

i like megaman, but OP is a literal cocksucker. you sound like a kirbyfag with your shit opinions

>OP decides to give love to the whole franchise and is lambasted for it.
Having fun really is forbidden on Yea Forums

Star force was relatively good, being a more intimate and streamlined battle network.

Isn't the X series the equivalent to Sonic's dark age games? Where some are like kind of good to terrible? I'm not trying to insult it by any means im just going based off what I heard because people seem to really like the X series but at the same time people say the later games are super terrible or something

X5 was decent, X6 had some problems being rushed, X7 was actually terrible, but X8 and command mission fixed it.

No, Battle Network era on is the dark ages of Megaman. Capcom saw Pokemon make a billion trillion dollars and gutted Megaman into some shitty pokemon cash-in.

Absolutely not. Mega Man as a series is super inconsistent. Take the X series for example, it has three great games (X1, X2, X4), and the rest range from mediocre to just plain shit. Meanwhile I'd say I like all games in the Zero series (even though Z1 and Z4 are just 'ok').
The quality changes a lot between the sub-franchises.

by making the best megaman games, gotcha

>best megaman game
he wasn't talking about X2

Fuck off and play the game if you want insight into them, newfag.

...by making a whole spinoff series while the main timeline kept going.
Get a load of this guy.

So I beat Classic 1-6 and I got too burned out to get through 7 and beyond. Same for the X series, except I only beat X and X2. I beat ZX and ZXA when I was a kid, so should I just play the Zero games or something?

im still in the classic series (on 6 right now). i'll get to X eventually i was still planning on playing them

>main timeline kept going
That's why Megaman 9 didn't come out until 2008 and was universally met with long awaited praise and adulation as a return to form and greatness.

Yes, play zero since it's contextual for ZX. Aside from one of the supporting characters and a secret boss being from that series Area I is a decayed ruin of Neo arcadia where the tree of life used to be along with omega's ship, areas M-N remains of where ragnarok crashed, and

Megamarysue X

No you troglodyte, Network transmission came out in 2003 for the GameCube having classic series gameplay while the Zero series was still ongoing at the time battle network was being developed

Why is X8 not on the list? Did you even play it?

>gets tired of fighting and becomes a ghost
>body gets destroyed by a fag with a rapier

Yeah I already knew about Omega Zero, but that's about as far as my knowledge of the Zero series goes.

You would think there would be more security in the world tree.

Well, he was the commander of the resistance.

That's not Axl.

If I'm going back to replay something, ZX feels the best from a gameplay perspective IMO. Feels like the Zero series, which already felt great, but even better.

Advent was pretty shitty though.

Axl was only in two games (3 including CM) out of 8 (9). Zero was in all of them.

Attached: 20120808_145844.jpg (567x808, 182K)

Someone post the Starforce anime Webm (the one with great animation)

I was like you. but then i grit my teeth and beat x7 and x8 also. You're not a true Megaman fan until you've beat them all.

Well I don't consider myself a Megaman fan at all. I think the entire franchise is mediocre at best.

Attached: 1506367600416.jpg (171x178, 7K)

X8 is a great game so you're missing out. And you won't be fully prepped for when X9 comes out.

What's this?

Megaman? More like misogynistic nazi MAGAman, amirite?

protodude's post yesterday to make user stop doubting his info about the new mobile megaman game coming soon

Like I love Zero a lot, but don’t try to pretend he basically took over the series from X after a while.

translation_request

X really did get the shaft when it came to his own series, didn't he?

Attached: 1524028537969.jpg (1075x646, 631K)

Neat.

It can't be helped. Zero is miles more fun than X ever was to play as. Most of X's weapons usually suck and aren't as practical to use as Zero's are, especially on the fly.

>Main character (X) isn't in the cover (Sega Saturn version)
>The heroine debuts in Zero route only
>X never appears in Zero route
>X route ending (anime cutscene) features Zero

But being more fun to play doesn't necessarily require hogging the spotlight story-wise.

Could a weapon select wheel like 11's change that up for you, making them more accessible?

Attached: 1525209785785.png (934x892, 802K)

What's worse is that Sigma is well crafted there too.

Attached: GeeZero.png (443x310, 294K)

Attached: 58253920_p10_master1200.jpg (610x900, 272K)

It does when you end up overshadowing the main character because of your overwhelming popularity.

Still not as instant and satisfying as using Zero. The difference between X and Zero is that Zero's moves are integrated into his playstyle. They're all done with simple button commands and can be combo'd into. Whereas with X, you either have pause to go into a menu, cycle quickly with L & R which is distracting in of itself because it requires memorizing which color combination does what all the while jump dashing from a given boss or enemy. The wheel from 11's a step forward, but still isn't as intuitive again as playing Zero.

We need more evil cute robutts.

Shame Oro S is doomed to waste away in a shitty game no one can even play anymore.

Attached: 1556049221229.jpg (441x590, 210K)

Doesn't MC kill her anyways in that game?

Attached: 47006483_p0.jpg (960x1280, 144K)

How about being able to assign any special weapon to R2 L2 and the triangle button?
You have 3 buttons to instantly shoot one speciic weapon you like.

Zero's gameplay is too seductive.

Attached: DlM10pAW4AISAPD.jpg (1500x1800, 315K)

Don't know, probably? I never played the game myself.

Attached: 60090537_p0.jpg (579x818, 452K)

x9 when

Yeah. You blow her up twice. First during her stage, then next during the boss rush to the final boss.

Attached: D4HLdjeUEAYH4fC.jpg (800x800, 66K)

Think they refined it better in the Zero series.
The dual weapon system basically collapsed X’s core Buster play-style into Zero.

Still sad that X got his series hijacked.

X - X4 are excellent, those after are garbage

In which way are MMBN and Pokemon even related?

Attached: 1547592314551.png (724x720, 638K)

This is why the Quick Swap system from Xtreme 2 and X7-8 wasn't really a bad idea. Either have X and Zero available at all times and bring them in for situations that are better fit for the other character without breaking the pacing, or if Axl or even some new character spice up the fray then make character selection a valid choice still. Though I wasn't a fan of the emphasis on team attacks and grab-counter switching in X8.

If Zero's gameplay has to remain in the X series, then it's a case where the pair really need to be compatible on a teamplay setup for Zero to not just completely overshadow X still.

Not even close. The only games close to Sonic's dark age are X6 & X7

Well the franchise is an interesting balancing act between being experimental and really repetitive.
There are a lot of games seen as mediocre if not bad in each series but overall I’ve managed to find some enjoyment from each branch

They both are featured mainly on the GBA and DS systems, and have multiple different versions of the same game often.

Now I hate the shit out of e-celebs but holy fuck this guy pisses me off with his zx advent review

youtube.com/watch?v=5636awZMFTA

>BOSS TRANSFORMATIONS BAD BECAUSE YOU CAN'T USE THEM EVERYWHERE
>I DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THE STORY BECUZ I KNOW IT'S THE SAME SHIT HURR HURR
>IT'S NOT ZERO 6 SO IT'S BAD

X6 is Shadow the Hedgehog and X7 is ‘06.

I will give you they did make the games "let's do two in one lol" but it hardly ruined the series for it.

the guy's annoying but i was able to tolerate his zero series reviews somewhat because he criticized certain parts reasonably and really loved the shit out of them deep down even for some of the flaws, but I really don't know what the hell happened with ZXA. yeah, I wouldn't really call it an amazing game myself honestly, but he became a real whiny little shit for ZXA.

The only consistent series is Zero. The rest vary from meh to amazing to milked to death

Attached: Pandora.jpg (1200x1600, 521K)

there needs to be more human Pandora art in the world, or at least cute Pandora art

Being able to use the buster and saber without having to switch weapons or characters makes gameplay very smooth.

Just have to know where to look.

Attached: 1554312279362.png (558x900, 251K)

X7 amazing??
Are you high?

Has the word "mixed bag" ever fit a megaman game more?

Attached: 61WPQ0C5NEL.jpg (490x500, 65K)

Probably describes the ZX games games better.

>the awful bike shit returns
>every boss named after a Guns n' Roses member because my bf works at Capcom USA
>HIS NAME IS DUFF MCWHALEN

>whether or not the cannon works against Enigma is entirely RNG and thus you can still fail the blast and Zero's sacrifice even if you get all the parts
>the whole 16 hours until impact loses its effectiveness because it's again all RNG
>you have to go through stages multiple times to get everything even if you know exactly where everything is
>the autoscrolling hell that is Tidal's stage
>Zero being hilariously OP in comparison to X even with X's Fourth Armor
>upgrades being entirely RNG as outright locked out if you don't follow arbitrary guidelines no regular player could ever know about
Zero was fun as fuck to play as, but god damn did this game drop the ball on paper.

After playing this game 20 times it felt bland. ZX honestly felt better than the way X5 was ok.

dat tummy

ZX's world map is terrible but the gameplay and bosses more than make up for it.

The first X game is easier than any of the original 6 Mega Man games.

It's ironic that in the old anniversary documentary for the GameCube capcom staff thought X was harder than the entire classic series. The flow of gameplay and mechanics make it much easier

>Wily gets upstaged by Light his whole life
>Mega Man ruins all of his plans
>Creates Zero
>Zero steals the spotlight from X, Doctor Lights Ultimate Creation, in his own series and is an all around better character and gameplay style
Wily won the long game, hard.

The icing on the cake is zero outliving X and achieving an everlasting peace that he never could.

Not exactly megaman exclusive but

Fuck digital eclipse they can not emulate jack shit for the life of them

While the megaman legacy collections didn’t turn out the worst they have glaring issues and the rushed ps2/Xbox/GameCube anniversary collection is fucking better, at least that collection botherd to port x1 and 2, fixing a lot of the slowdown issues

The x legacy collections just use some shitty snes9x fork for x1 and 2. Capcom needs to ditch these lazy fucks as they can not make decent emulations/ports

Oh yeah that's why I brought it up. I thought they were wildly exaggerating the level of difficulty in the X series.

>He watches an ironic weeb with no future.

>Light, despite being the good guy, basically lead humanity to get fucked beyond belief.
>Wily, despite being responsible for so much shit, ended up saving the world in the long run.
Deepest lore.

Nah, X is overall alright.
The worst games and ones anyone could really call BAD are X6 and X7. The rest are alright or good. X8 is honestly good, just most people haven't actually played it, and command mission is unironically a pretty okay turn based RPG.

Isn’t command mission basically just breath of fire with megaman x characters?

>Phantasy Star collection has terrible tinny music and no Phantasy Star IV.
>Ultimate Genesis Collection has 2 licensed games from Treasure, no S3&K, shitty menu.

I've only suffered the fate of these two from them. Hell they called Sonic 3 Sonic 2 on the back of the box, how do you fuck up that badly?

I dunno, when you get right down to the technicals, X outlived Zero by a longshot, since Zero spent quite a long period of time either dead or sealed away, while X remained active in the field.

I don't see how you're getting pokemon from Battle Network, but I do think Battle Network is overrated by it's fans and it's incredibly mediocre.

X1-5 are great, and 4 is the most challenging of those 5 in my opinion. 6 is difficult in the most bullshit ways, like having a silhouette of Zero appear all over the place and rush into you and most of the time you take a gamble on jumps and die from pitfalls you can't see and a lot of times the platforms you need to reach are moving left-right.

What happened to Ciel between zero 4 and zx?

You act like that would be a bad thing.

>Light decides that his greatest creation shouldn’t come with the power gear included and must get arm parts for it.
What did he mean by this?

t. pleb and filtered

>two old scientist guys cause generations of global conflict
Can you describe another series like this?

He only made the tools
This screen cap is bad and wrong

Not wrong though.

>Be Wily
>Invent the Double Gear System because Robots are tools and should be treated as such
>Best friend creates a sentient toaster, all research funding gets dumped into that instead of being able to slow down time/get the maximum potential out of a machine
>Fast forward approximately 100 years
>Sentient toasters running amok, causing pointless wars for no reason and generally trying to remove meatbag
>Humanity could've touched every star in the sky using a double gear-enabled FTL engines to be everywhere and anywhere in the universe in the blink of an eye
>Instead, humanity is eradicated and replaced by literal carbon copies
>Thomas "The Father of Death" Light still heralded as a hero, in spite of starting all of this
>Albert "The Good Doctor" Wily is still heralded as a villain, in spite of making the one machine that was capable of fixing everything

To be fair, even light said he was wrong.

Hey, humans found a way to become immortal and build Elysium in space, they just killed themselves because they were bored. Carbons had nothing to do with it.

She discovered Model W, made the other Biometals and disappeared.
If you believe Prairie she's still alive out there and the Guardians are looking for her even though she would be something like 200+ years old. Even if she didn't dodge the "every human gets robotic implants to extend their lifespan" draft she would have probably been dead a long time ago, especially being hunted by Serpent.

Clearly jealous that the classic series never had as much momentum. They didn't even base battle network off pokemon, but card games after their initial experiment with making a GBA game based on player's heartrates failed.

I love both of them though, both are easily in at least my top 20 somewhere

>quotes something I didn’t type
neat

You literally said amazing gameplay and story
If you didn't also mean amazing story then you should have typed story and amazing gameplay

Why the stupid copout that the remaining 3 guardians died in omega's explosion? Shouldn't they have had the ability to just leave or survive the explosion? Fefnir and leviathan wasn't even severely injured

I think a later thing ultimately retconned that retcon as just them surviving off-screen and helping evacuate people from Neo-Arcadia.

I thought they copped out of that and said they just disappeared under mysterious circumstances.

Attached: 67794356_p0.jpg (807x768, 677K)

So I'm not really sure why, but what's been up with these consistent Megaman threads as of late? Haven't seen this many in what feels like ages. Glad to see it though.

I went on an Autistic Megaman stint about 5 years ago.
Played Megaman 1-6, X 1-6, BN 1-4 Zero 1-2 in the space of 2 months.
Not touched it since, I'll surely miss it one day and come back to it.
Have I missed any of the great games or have I played pretty much all the good stuff already?

ZX is literally the best Megaman series you fucking pleb

BN6 and Zero 3 are top tier

General autism and the possiblilty of more mobile X and BN games. I'll take what I can get out of it though.

Went insane because she didn't get the reploid D, got sick cybernetic implants, discovered and made biometals and fucked off to dick around and mourn the loss of Zero and his dick.

That was the earlier statements before an interview and the complete works said they died shielding zero in the explosion. Its still absolutely retarded.

No, we're talking about post-Complete Works seeing as CW was years ago.

Is BN5 better than BN4?
Since I need to play the games in order

That's the case for Classic and X, although both get more clones then fangames now a days.

Yes, all the classic games are good. Even the “low points” 7 and 8 stand up better than most of the other series games.

>Is BN5 better than BN4?
Yes, but it's not great. Seriously though, Zero 3 is probably the best sidescrolling Megaman game ever, don't miss it.

Cool. I have the Zero collection. Should I do the all in one thing or just play it on it's own?

Play them on their own. Wasn't the all in on mode easier or something?

Do the whole thing, the story actually builds up from the beginning. Be prepared to grind in the first two games though.

As shit as Xover was, it was one of those games that were it literally any other kind of game than what it was, it would have been a great anniversary title.

Xover as a fighting game? Perfect excuse plot to have all the Mega Man protagonists and antagonists duking it out MvC style.

Xover as a full-fledged Classic/MMX/ZX style platformer? Easily a better game than the on-rails jump and shoot bullshit we got.

Xover as a Battle Network-esque RPG? FUCKING TAKE MY MONEY HOLY SHIT

Hell, even if it were a more traditional turn-based JRPG, like with Mega Man X Command Mission, it would have been better than the dumpster fire we got.

Attached: GXRE08-6.png (1920x1104, 1.06M)

That would have taken actual effort, which early 2010's Capcom clearly wasn't giving.

True enough... It's legit a shame. The original character designs were pretty slick, and it had some good music too.
