On PC it's still pretty popular. Everyone says it has a steep learning curve but it doesn't. If you're naturally good at FPS games and have good twitch reflexes you'll be fine. Campers tend to get screwed over relatively fast, you're always better off roaming.
There is a lot of shit that comes with the game though, many people claim the community is cancer and they're 50% right. There'll be times where you're team-killed then kicked from a casual game purely because a teammate shoots you by accident then the team kicks you as you're useless to them. You'll find the game infuriating at times as your team dies so fast and you're left to pick up the pieces (which is very difficult to do). Whilst the opposition are working together beautifully and your teammates are all suffering from severe retardation.

Basically, it's annoying to play when you're new as you'll get spawn killed whilst learning the maps.
It's annoying to play when you're experienced because teammates will fuck you over.
It's annoying to play as a veteran because of the shit matchmaking system.

if you want to play for the competitive aspect of ranked, just know you've gotta hit level 50 before you can queue for ranked now, instead of 20 as it used to be, and even then you probably wont want to enter ranked till after about level 100 and once you've learned the ranked map rotation and callouts for spots, otherwise you'll just get stuck in silver/gold, and then get stuck in the MMR whirpool of WinOne-LoseOne just like in mobas

but most importantly, if you want to get into the game for waifus, dont.
Sometimes you'll come across people with 1000 hours of casual who only play 1 op on attack 1 on def, and if they dont get that op they have a mental breakdown because "GIVE ME MY WAIFU!?!??! WTF" and theyre always massive shitters, typically with some cropped hentai avatar
The game is also kinda gay now with the amount of chat censorship, cant say Nigger but you can say it with an accent on any of the letters, you dont get punished for it anymore, you just cant say it

ping also seems to work inversely in siege for some unknown reason, probably because ubisoft are completely fucking incompetent and cant do anything right
if youre living in a 1st world country, and are close to servers, and have sub 30 ping, you'll be disadvantaged against some Arab or Turk playing in a netcafé with 150+ ping, and the game has no ping limiters (bar people hitting numbers in the 1000s)

they were thinking about adding niggers to the game
then they remembered that theres enough niggers in the game, so they'll add sandniggers instead

most diamonds in the game are boosted anyway, since people figured out theres actually no restrictions on ranked queues, so you can queue as a gold with 4 coppers and you'll actually get MORE mmr as the gold, because of your teams MMR disparity

That ping issue explains a lot. There has been so many times where I've been killed even though I clearly shot first only to see the opposite happen on the killcam yet my ping is 9 and theirs is in the 50+.

Map knowledge is crazy important and the maps are fairly complex, which adds a lot to the shit you need to know to be decent.

Once you get a rough idea on them you can start predicting enemies and planning flanks.

The ranked system is trash, which is a bummer. CSGO has a drastically better ranked system.

Also the ping issue is less bad ever since they tweaked the tick rate.

It hasn't been worth playing since mid-year two. Since then it stopped being a tactical shooter and became Overwatch with peeker's advantage and drop shotting. All of the fun was drained out of it to appeal to eSports players (t. cocklusting faggots with brain tumors) and streamers (t. prostitutes).

The game is a disfigured imitation of it's former self and only maintains a playerbase due to the Stockholm Syndrome it's player base has, similar to the WoW player base. Just like WoW, if players could play original Siege on one screen, and the nu-game using it's name on another, they would projectile vomit at the fetid pool of piss and shit the game has become.

Played for a while and then quit. DLC operators are straight upgrades and leave certain older operators as basically inferior picks. Running around feels like you're skating on greased ice, netcode is garbage, game is populated (both on PS4 and PC) with screeching mexican children and angry dudebros. Both groups will TK you for any reason imaginable.
Of all the multiplayer games with supposedly "toxic" communities Siege takes the cake, possibly the worst "community" of the past 10 years. You'll understand around the fourth time you get TK'd for not fortifying a wall some addy popping child wanted you to fortify.

it doesnt make him a safer choice, or a smarter choice in any capacity, especially once you start shooting and your gun goes to african because he has the highest modifier for horizontal recoil in the game on his AR

Hibanas AR has a good firerate, but its compromised by the fact its a 20mag, whereas Thermite has a 30mag *and* his bullets have higher damage/penetration stats on them, making it easier to open secondary holes, or get wallbangs for example on objectives like Snowmobile, if the connector/barrels wall is soft

once again, maestro and chanka cant be compared

Year 3 was a clusterfuck of good and bad decisions. New operators are extremely hit and miss, new maps tend to be weak.
Game has taken over as one of the e-sport shooters so now you find insufferable cunts every match and everyone seems to have a smurf account because Siege goes on sale for cheap all the time so new players get fucked.

Fun take on the CS formula though and gives a small feeling of R6 to multiplayer(This fades away more and more each day though).
Destruction, gadgets and operator picks give a ton of variety every match.
You can play it solo but it shines with coordination/communication

Sledge is useful for moving around the map quietly, but he's comparatively dogshit if you ever want to open up walls for lines of sight.
