I think it's a bit different with NG+ games because it incentivises additional playthroughs. It's not like beating Crash Bandicoot as a kid and immediately starting a second playthrough. Took me 6 months to beat it the first time, took me 6 months to beat it the second time. Then Crash 2 came out and I moved up.

I think if you need to look up shit like "ending explained" and need to watch analysis videos and things of the sort to narratively or thematically get the game at all, its either an extremely complicated narrative, which id imagine is rarely the case, or you're just not paying attention and don't know how to appreciate/interpret art properly, tbqh

The fact there's so many ending explained videos just reminds me that most people barely even pay attention to what they experience. Which is exactly why everything is so shallow these days, the internet has ruined everyone's attention span. Except for me of course.
