Remember this turd? Thiswas the patient zero, the beginning of the end.
A god awful walking simulator with tweest being "LOL SHE GAYxD" and getting 9-10 everywhere. This is the moment gaming died, any critism of this garbage was instantly shut down.
No, because the problem isn't walking simulators, it's muh SJWs ruining muh hobby lol
Samuel Baker
the outrage was completely justified it was boring amateurish trash but i was hailed as something revolutionary because of the attached politics and because the devs came from the same disgusting hipster social circles as most journalists do
Matthew Foster
>the problem isn't walking simulators Looks like someone is actually part of the problem and doesn't realize it
Brody Murphy
Dear Esther didn't receive special attention Gone Home did and it was specifically because of the SJW themes
>the outrage was completely justified I'm sure that's what the SJW trannies say too in their circlejerks. Horseshoe strikes again.
Aaron Butler
it tried to make games into something more than art, you're just too childish to understand
Christopher Rivera
gone home is a fine experimental game that got blown way out of proportion. anyone still obsessed with it is a retard. the trend of games trying to copy it already died off and the studio behind it faded into obscurity. give it a fucking rest already
Dear Esther was widely criticized for just being a walking simulator. There were debates over whether it even counted as a video game. Gone Home did not get the same treatment despite being the same type of game.
Jordan Martin
>it's not for me so I HATE IT REEEE
Brody Kelly
>devs has always been in bed with game journalists (undeniable fact because game sites literally runs and relies the ads of the companies that made the games) >a literal example was found >people understandably got outraged >the media turns it around and plays it as if the only incident only happened because the dev was female and gamers are all misogynists >genuine misogynists/falseflaggers rode with GG so the media can deny the entire movement with moral superiority
>You: "dude it's all horseshoe! you guys are literally the same!"
Yea Forums hated ALL game journalists since forever and only a few sites (e.g. giantbomb) were not as hated, you are the reason why nobody takes the "SJW discord tranny" side seriously because you brushes everything in broad strokes in your ignorance.
It was an excellent video game. Tacoma, though, was kinda trash
Elijah Russell
I thought it was very boring as well, but you're essentially just crying that journalists liked it while you didn't, which is pretty pathetic, all things considered. >How dare they give it undeserved attention? It did not get MY seal of approval. I do not consent to this. That's embarrassing, dude.
And like said, it's been over half a decade and Gone Home is not relevant anymore. But god forbid someone call you out on your SJW-like cries of outrage for the sake of attention.
Dylan Phillips
Back to cripple-chan, faggot. No one gives a shit about le ebin rise up.
Anthony Garcia
You need to explain to me how slowly wandering around house which culminates into "my sister is gay and she ran away" is an excellent video game.
Adam Kelly
>IT'S NOT A VIDEO GAME BECAUSE IT HAS NO FAIL STATE! YOU CAN'T TALK ABOUT IT IN YOUR VIDEO GAME WEBSITE! I FORBID YOU OF DOING SO! REEEEEEEEE kek, remember this cope?
Blake Wood
heh
Aaron Mitchell
It was a shit game not worth the hype, I remember pirating it and thinking it was a horror game. But nah, just some fag shit
Cooper Lewis
>game journalists gave games a bad score because they can't handle them >studios shut down because negative press
>game journalists give games that require nothing but moving forward a good score because they can handle them AND they like the message behind it >"games" like that keeps getting made while devs that are making "hard" games receive less media approval that eventually translates to loss sales
I like it how if you call complaints and disagreements into "pathetic whining" the whole thing takes on a new flavor, words are truly magical.
>IT'S NOT A VIDEO GAME BECAUSE IT HAS NO FAIL STATE I mean, it might be arguing semantics, but that's not really wrong. It's not a "game" if you can't lose.
Benjamin Fisher
are you trying to say that clover shut down because of a bad IGN review? because you're incredibly retarded if you think that
Jaxson Thomas
Don't put words in my mouth.
Camden Jones
you sound incredibly gay and buttmad. Getting outraged over some non-issue piece of software is fucking stupid and a complete waste of time.
>why do you talk about video games on a video game board on one of the most disliked mainstream website on the internet that's pathetic lmao
next up: not your sekrit club
Brayden Hernandez
>Journalists with a depressing amount of influence over consumers sharing common politics and coordinating to push narratives are the exact same thing as a bunch of autistic NEETs with zero influence on the average person being in agreement HORSESHOE THEORY STRIKES AGAIN
Jordan Cooper
>We're just oppressed gamersmen, we really need to rise up, bros Yep. Just like SJWs.
So fucking happy the walking sim meme kinda died, one of the worst genres ever created.
Jace King
>tfw being raided by resetera
Kayden Campbell
>This was the patient zero
Acutally, it wasn't. The real patient zero was Mass Effect 3 and how EA literally used gaming journalism as tool to shit on """entitled"""" gamers that had genuine criticisms of the game and EA's actions (also the beginning of the "gamers are shit" trend that still continues to this day). Also how they used LGBT as a shield when they won the shittiest company game award and the whole backlash with the DLC ending.
Elijah Myers
This may be the biggest strawman I've seen on Yea Forums in months. Bravo, you really changed my mind. Journalism is truly a free market of ideas and the cream always rises to the top.
Gavin Morales
mass effect 3 was a game with some bullshit on it. gone home was a game built on pure bullshit.
Brayden Reed
I unironically enjoyed it.
Crucially I knew absolutely nothing about it going in. I thought it was a monster closet game it took me a white to realize nothing was going to jump out at me. Fantastic 90s feels.
I'm not gonna argue you point by point. The overall tone of your posts is that those conspiratorial SJW journalists are strongarming your hobby and dominating it against your will by disagreeing with your assessment on video games. God forbid they have different tastes than you do.
Luke Anderson
I don't undertand why people still listen to video game """jorunalists""".
Gaming journalism is just another PR extension for the highest bidder.
William Reed
I can literally recycle the replies that were already made in this thread to predict the responses to your post:
Cooper Reed
>I'm not gonna argue you point by point.
Because you can't, all you and your ilk have done in this thread is to recycle the same posting-pattern that are just variants of calling people losers for caring.
Wyatt Edwards
You can care all you want, but you don't have the power to stop people from having different opinions from yours, And That's A Good Thing™
Also the people who makes these kind of posts are constantly scanning this place trying to quell the fires when some journo or corporation does something stupid.
There are people on Yea Forums that unironically gets mad as fuck when you criticize SJWs.
Austin Campbell
wtf bros, i can't believe they're trying to sabotage our rise up
Levi Sullivan
aaaaand you've just outed yourself as a baitposter. Thanks for playing. >you're just as big of a retard for taking the bait yep pretty much
Michael Howard
holy shit man you were right. look at this faggot
Jaxon Thomas
seething
Alexander Gomez
all me btw
Leo Mitchell
She's not to bad for her mid-50s. I wouldn't want to see her without clothes, though.
Jayden Wright
I will give you credit for at least admitting your point here in the thread, not to argue like a reasonable person but just to sow discord.
Funny right? Imagine having so little imagination other people can actually predict your insults.
Jonathan Morgan
>First journalists disagree with me, now Yea Forums posters too? What the fuck... How am I supposed rebel against SJW oppression like this?
Mason Morris
Horizon was a good video game with actual gameplay, not sure what this has to with anything.
John Baker
Gaming journalists are a bunch of failed clique, if they could do anything than marketing for videogames, they would do it in a heartbeat. They do have an opinion on videogames but it is one not worth listening to as they do not care a single bit about the medium. They'd rather talk about politics or latest pop culture trend than vidya, because they do not like what they do and they do not like videogames.
Camden Martinez
>Horizon was a good From a girl's point of view maybe.
Also because of nepotism and favors being called in for good reviews and awards to make them more money. It was all one big scam that showed that indie games were not going to be the savior of gaming and were just another kind of cesspool of bullshit.
Alexander Hill
*wet sloppy fart noises*
Carson Gray
>but muh /vpol/ doesn't like games with females/PoC protags!!!!!
it doesn't work that way tranny.
David Bailey
The polygon review was probably fabricated, sure, however the game received high scores from almost every reviewing site, with the exception of Eurogamer. Unless you have 9 more equivalent images, you can´t really prove it´s a large scale conspiracy. The reason Gone Home was well received because it was controversial back then, since homosexual marriage was still not legal. Controversies create advertisements and for some people the controversies make them put the game on a pedestal. It´s the reason why i personally find for example kingdom come deliverance and gone home on the same spot - not enjoyable.
Elijah Barnes
Female protags are never the problem, never were, stop falseflaging. Alloy was a good and neutral portagonist, crazy SJWs will spin anything.
Gavin Adams
>Controversies create advertisements and for some people the controversies make them put the game on a pedestal. Case in point: Day's Gone. Standard issue open world game with passable gunplay, exploration, and story that's only ever talked about on Yea Forums because the characters are mildly libertarian which pissed off radical lefties which somehow made it /ourgame/ to impressionable idiots.
Jordan Scott
>I thought it was very boring as well, but you're essentially just crying that journalists liked it while you didn't, which is pretty pathetic, all things considered.
No, retardo, he criticizes journalists because they liked it due to the SJW agenda in the game and not because the game was good. Back to resetera, faggot.
Gabriel Gutierrez
Dumb Universegenie poster
Parker Collins
You can enjoy a game for its politics. Example: People enjoying "woman objectifying" fan service.
Bentley Russell
holy kek
Brandon Cook
Fan service is not politics.
Justin Roberts
Don't forget that they deliberately fooled people into thinking there was a paranormal aspect to the story to keep them playing. Had to deliver that progressive payload by any means necessary.
Hunter Thomas
Then neither is gay people
Jason Jones
Leftypols who think they can "deradicalize" Yea Forums through trying to make everything look like Chanology 2.0 are as hilarious as they are pathetic.
Ethan Garcia
Pirated and played it blind when it came out and enjoyed it. The house was fun to explore, the atmosphere was solid and being able to pick up and inspect everything was novel. Sure the story and payoff sucked shit but the game itself is not as horrible as people here make it out to be.
It did cement the walking sim trend though and should be lashed for that. No more first person horror games slowly exploring a house inspecting items to piece together a story please.
Elijah White
The game itself was ok honestly. What "ruined" it was the excessive dicksucking by the press. There´s no way in hell this deserved a 10/10 or Game of the Year. Shame the devs went completly overboard with the SJW-stuff in their next game, they went so completly off the rails with it that Tacoma seemed like a parody of SJW-culture at times, unlike Gone Home, where they did it in a fairly tasteful way.
>going AWOL from the military to scissor an underage girl >tasteful
Dylan Parker
The faGGotry was way more embarrassing than Project Chanology lol. You'll never turn this place into le ebin rise up headquarters again. Try Reddit or cripple-chan for that.
Ryder Rodriguez
thanks for this user, made my day lolmao
Jackson Harris
By now it's very clear to everyone how boring the game is. Subverting expectations by... doing nothing! That's right you thought something would happen but actually nothing happens - isn't that exciting, a game where nothing happens?
Gone Home is also the whitest game of all time, and yet somehow the SJW journalists failed to complain about the lack of strong independtend black womyn. Probably because they all identify with the rich white gay family and their rich white gay problems.
Easton Miller
Compared to Tacoma, where everyone was either gay, fat a minority or all of the above? Where the space-station has every type of meat except for pork because one of the crew members is muslim? Absolutely.
Landon Martinez
Promoting degeneracy agenda is political. They didn't show gay as a fan service, they literally put a political message in the game.
Jaxon Nguyen
>degeneracy lol
Landon Russell
>Go to Cripplechan or Reddit >or Reddit Are you mentally retarded? Like legitimately brain damaged and challenged? Incapable of understanding basic concepts? How the fuck could you possibly lump a place like Reddit in with Cripplechan as somewhere the GG movement people could thrive?
Jordan Edwards
I have literally never met an openly gay or trans person that didn't have a severe personality disorder or character flaw.
Angel Lee
KotakuInAction is the number 1 place to hang out and cry about SJWs. You'll fit in excellently in there.
Matthew Richardson
Even without the gay shit the game was fucking awful. The fact it got 9/10 from journalist is so fucking stupid.
Gone Home is a solid 7/10 game. I went in blind and enjoyed the twist at the end because I was truly expecting a PT type survival horror when I went in.
BUT it being the nexus of the GG bullshit will forever mar the game, and it should. It's part of the reason why I don't trust most game journalist sites. Specifically Polygon.
I understand, it's hard to meet people when you don't leave your basement.
Colton Collins
I bought it on release and I enjoyed it You may not like some of the themes, but walking around in a authentic feeling home during a storm made me feel comfy, kinda similar games I enjoyed were Life is Strange, Firewatch and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter As for ethics in video games journalism or what ever I couldn't care less
Luke Bell
Knew someone would say something like this. Try 10 years of community theater in the Bay Area.
Oliver Watson
Sounds awesome, I would definitely score it higher than Deus Ex or Grand Theft Auto
James Diaz
But it is political
Mason Hughes
lot of niggers and fags itt
Justin Richardson
i fucking loved this game when i pirated it for the first 20 minutes or so. Loved the atmosphere and finding things and the tension, but then I realized that walking simulator wasn't a made up exaggeration by Yea Forums and there was actually literally 0 danger or threat so i dropped it. What a waste of time.
Aaron Morris
well when your entire identity is based around what sexually arouses you, how can you not be fucked in the head?
Thomas Rivera
I don't think you can accurately compare a game that was developed by four people over 1,5 years with one that was developed by a 1000+ staff over five years(not including PC release and Online), especially not using a 1-10 number scale
Jayden Hall
>No, retardo, he criticizes journalists because they liked it due to the SJW agenda in the game and not because the game was good. That's a retarded ass conspiracy anyway. They liked it because it was a minimalistic immersive horror experience, not because it had "the right politics". You're creating your own oogeymen.
Ayden Mitchell
worst part, its that Dear Esther at least put some effort on the world and narrative, god, the places you walk around look gorgeous and the dialogues were well writen, also the picked someone who actually knows how to read.
Caleb White
That was Dragon Age II, dipshit and EA wasn't exactly wrong either
Alexander Reed
That game was hyper boring and ugly. Gone Home was an incomparably better 'game'.
t. fan of walking sims
Liam Turner
Then so is tiddies
Ethan Martin
I liked Dear Esther better because it was shorter and had some real beautiful moments. I couldn't be arsed reading shit in Gone Home and stuff.
But then the Dear Esther guys made Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, so fuck them
Benjamin Clark
They liked it because they didn't know any better. Game journos have shit taste, period
Jordan Campbell
numerical scores are fucking gay. let your opinions speak for themselves. fuck metacritic
Austin Cruz
Can't argue about taste, user. The real issue here is that Yea Forums just can't imagine people liking something they don't like, especially if it doesn't have outrageous combos and anime waifus in it, and immediately resorts to assuming ulterior motives to explain any disagreement.
