Hmm :)

I still haven't finished it

Is it good?

it's scary

good atmosphere and sound direction.

It's great, though try not to spoil yourself on shit about it if you're going to play it.

Lmao why release on dofferent days!? Why not same day? Dumb indie retards.

It's got the atmosphere thing down and after you've invested yourself in it, the whole story and mystery of the forest you're trapped in really pulls you in. I don't remember there being any time pressure for progressing in the default difficulty so I was armed to the teeth by the time I made it to the fourth safehouse third safehouse is basically a deathtrap and you'd do well to spend as little time there as possible. There's a super secret ending that kind of reveals the true nature of the forest but good luck figuring out all the weird conditions you need to fulfill to get it. Just youtube it after you finish the game.

I have 5 hours played, atmosphere is absolutely great and it's pretty spooky
But after getting lost, exploring the whole fucking map and not knowing what to do, I lost interest and dropped.

will they give it out for free like the PC version?

Fuck I bought a fucking PC for this.

Just use it for porn. Not a big loss.

it's exceptional, definitely the horror game of the generation and imo it belongs up there with the greats like SH

Is this game comfy inna wood horror with light survival elements
or do you constantly have to rush from food source to food source, because you'll starve at high speed?

its in between, food isnt really a big deal if i remember correctly it's more scavenging constantly for the ability to craft utility items and weaponry

it definitely isnt comfy though and even your safe haven needs work because it's broken and has entry ways you cant permanently close up

this game is the opposite of comfy

The game has no hunger system, however every night you need fuel and resources to board up windows.
So you don't really need to rush for resources past the first 2-3 days you spend in a hideout, but its best to always be trying to make progress.

Pretty sure you don't need to eat or sleep. You spend the day time exploring/scavenging for supplies, or doing quests for other survivors and the night time cowering in your hideout praying that the beasties don't break in and find you.

It has fantastic atmosphere and the story is great, but the gameplay, not so much, pretty boring after the 2nd-3rd safehouse. Worth a playthrough though.

>sitting in corner watching the windows on first night
>the door slowly swings open

>a new perspective on survival horror
>literally every zombie flash game from newgrounds did this top down perspective.
I just dont get what can be scary

I tried Darkwood back when it was new and it didn't really click with me, mainly because engaging in combat felt like pulling teeth, and I could never find a weapon stronger than a stick that broke in like four hits.

It really isn't.
It's creepy, sure, but it doesn't inspire terror or scare you.

Not that kind of perspective, user.
This. Too much effort to get weapons that break too easily. I know its suppose to keep you on your toes, but a stick or axe shouldn't break that fast.

its got a cool name that feels good to say
"Darkwood"

You're not me

What are these guys doing now?

Yeah, I'm not a pussy.

It's alright. Good atmosphere and fairly interesting story, but the gameplay gets awfully repetitive halfway through. I really had to force myself to finish it. True ending was pretty good though.

:(

>good luck figuring out all the weird conditions you need to fulfill to get it.
it's not that hard bro, you make it sound super obscure. If you're the type of person that likes to explore everything, chances are you'll find it.

Some tips for new players
>wood and fuel are your main go to resources then bottles
>bottles are the base of many good items plus they are good weapons. You throw them and the glass stays as a trap that deals damage to mobs but not to you
>stockpile metal, do not waste it
> the clock is a lifesaver
> its better to drag furnite from outside to block doors instead of using them as barricades
>DO NOT LET DIRECT LIGHT OUT OF THE HIDEOUT. Sometimes its better not to move to avoid making noise
>keep flares, medkits and extra weapons in furnite for emergency
>not all night events are bad, if you are bold brash or stupid go and pick the shrooms arround your house
>avoid monsters in the Old Forest. Chompers are real bitches
>get use to your weapons so you can combo a slow attack into a light attack
>get back to your house meat before its too late

gonna add one more thing most people seem to miss in this game, if you are playing the difficulty with limited lives, eating embryos gives you an extra life.

if this game doesn't then im interested in hearing which does

I wouldn't be able to tell you, I don't get scared from videogames.
Or all media, really.

wow you're really cool can i be your friend?

Yeah, I should've said it fucking sucks.
I've tried a bunch of shit but it never scares me.
Something jumps out makes a funny noise, or something horrifying appears and there's just nothing there, no feeling to it.
Being unable to play because it's emotionally compromising your ability to play is completely foreign to me.

you need something tailored to your personal fears. Maybe you are not afraid of decrepit monsters hiding in the dark, maybe you are afraid of something more emotional and gay.

In a similar boat, user. It might help if you try to put yourself in the character's shoes, get hyped/tensed up like them, try to see from their perspective so to speak, helps make a lot of media more enjoyable. Helps more if you treat it like method acting, where you experienced something similar or can imagine something similar happening to you.

You know what sucks more? Being largely composed of fear. I am barely functional as a human being, and even slightly creepy games are very draining and stressful for me to play. I couldn't get past the first bit of System Shock 2 because the sounds of the zombies shook me too much, I slowly stealthed through Bioshock 1 because I couldn't stand getting jumped all the time.

Is this game successful enough for the studio to keep making games? I've seen almost nothing but praise for it (outside of Yea Forums of course).
