It's in Mean Bean Machine, also known as the greatest Sonic game ever created
Ayden Turner
Fun fact. Season 2 had a bunch of changes to the format because Season 1 was considered too dark and scary. It's most apparent with Robotnik.
Carter Perry
AoSth and Satam designs are different
Justin Barnes
THIS is also a great eggman
Jayden James
The one in Mean Bean Machine is AoStH Robotnik, who is much better.
The one in OP's pic is SatAM Robotnik, who is shit.

Back in the day SatAM Sonic was considered the best. I kept missing it because it was on at a different time. I felt like one of those poor kids who couldn't afford hot lunches while everyone else was dining on better food. All I got to watch was AoStH. It's interesting how much the sentiment has changed.
Jace Williams
It's always opposite day on Yea Forums. SatAM is better in every way, don't listen to these fools.
Jonathan Hughes
Well, Excuuuuuse me faggot
Matthew Clark
No, this is peak Robotnik design, before the games got shit.
Austin Martinez
Everything about AoStH is a shitshow, except Robotnik.
Ian Foster
Yeah, from the looks of it, it did seem like SatAM was better. I saw like, one or two episodes as a kid and though it was cooler than AoStH
Charles Gomez
>Back in the day SatAM Sonic was considered the best
Probably because kids are edgy little shits who watch "dark" shows over lighthearted ones just to feel mature without understanding why something is good or not.
You didn't miss much, and honestly, AoStH better captured the games' tone. SatAM is just fanfiction using Sonic, Tails, and Robotnik.
Ayden Jones
It's not to say I didn't like it, or didn't like lighthearted stuff. Just that SaTAM seemed cooler. I'd have to go back and watch the two and compare.
Noah Anderson
The games took themselves relatively seriously, Sonic 3 & Knuckles had a dramatic tone, not a comedic one.
Alexander Phillips
It was 1993. The only games that were out at the time were Sonic 1 and 2. I don't even think Sonic CD was out yet. SatAM was at least as valid an interpretation of what was happening on screen as AoStH.
If anything AoStH was just a reskinned Road Runner cartoon. Other than the characters themselves it didn't have fuck all to do with the games.
Christian Young
SatAM went overboard with the seriousness though. Their Robotnik is completely different from Eggman in the games, even during SA2.
Camden Sanchez
This was actually a consistent problem with video game cartoons back then. Super Mario Bros. Super Show was half a live action sitcom and half a cartoon about Mario and Bowser battling in whatever random scenario the episode brought that day. One episode they were in Ancient Greece, then they're in Japan, then they're playing Indiana Jones...
Earthworm Jim ditched the entire setting and atmosphere and made a copycat Freakazoid starring Homer Simpson.
Henry Richardson
The Super Mario World show was at least somewhat consistent.
Zachary Allen
>SA2
What year do you think SatAM was made in?
Bringing Sonic Adventure anything into the conversation is like shitting on Adam West's Batman because of the existence of The Dark Knight.
Asher Rodriguez
I only mentioned it since most people like to assume Eggman was more serious in that game.
My point was that SatAM Robotnik and Eggman might as well be completely different characters who only share a name and barely resemble each other.
Gavin Powell
Hot take: this Eggman isn't bad at all.
Grayson Morales
>scratch and grounder (and the monkey) never made mainline game appearances
They were great characters too. Like the team rocket trip of Sonic.
Anthony Jones
both cartoons are just really extreme interpertations of the character, none of them are particularly faithful
Christian Ortiz
It's pretty easy to see how a resistance-themed environmentalism show like SatAM emerged out of the first two games. When you defeat an enemy a live animal pops out and you end a level by busting a forest's worth of critters out of a machine of some sort. And the deeper into the game you get, the more industrial the stages get.
Everything in SatAM has some root in the original games.
Bentley Morales
My point was that there was very little to be faithful to in 1993. Sonic effectively didn't have a personality, period, until both those shows came out.
Christopher Harris
his nose is the only thing that is bad about his design
Noah Reyes
SatAM is in Spinball you fucking dipshits
Ethan Barnes
you can't really criticize any media from that time period for being "unfaithful" when SEGA literally said "just make it up lol"
Nolan Cook
>Sonic effectively didn't have a personality, period
We're not talking about Sonic though. We're talking about Eggman/Robotnik.
Parker Perez
no he isn't
James Collins
Who also didn't have a personality at the time. SatAM/AoStH were exploring uncharted territory with the characters. The only thing they could draw from the games, personality wise, was that Sonic was impatient, what with the foot tapping idle animation, and Robotnik liked to force animals to do his bidding inside dangerous robots.
John Edwards

Nose is fine, the biggest sin are golden nipples
Cameron Ortiz
no he isnt.
Cooper Smith
>Robotnik liked to force animals to do his bidding inside dangerous robots.
So I guess neither you nor the cartoon's writers ever noticed Eggman's goofy smile and running animation, not to mention how he always ran away with a blackened face after having his machines destroyed.
He always came off as a stubborn manchild. SatAM ignored all that and just made him a typical evil bad guy who literally turned animals into robots.
Jaxon Butler
Mega evil Robotnik worked in SatAM because Sonic was a retard. The dynamic made it entertaining. It wasn't perpetually dark and serious. In fact the only really consistently serious among the heroes was Sally.
Wyatt Baker
Compared to AoStH it was a perfect facsimile. In that show he didn't even use the animals. He just built robots from...ahem...scratch.
Oliver Wood
you can't tell me Spinball isn't SatAM based when it has Sally, Bunny, Antoine, and Rotor making cameo appearances with the freed animals
and Archie uses the same designs, don't even fucking try, that's ketchup catsup shit
Adam Cook
>problem
Apparently you don't appreciate free-form silliness.
Ayden Adams
GROUNDER!
Josiah Gray
It depends. Earthworm Jim was just a shittier Freakazoid so it probably would have been better had they used the unique style of the games.
Lucas Russell
Here's a question. Why WERE there two Sonic cartoons airing at the exact same time anyway?
Joshua Morgan
It's not that I don't like free-form silliness. I just think it's retarded that SatAM is being shit on for lack of faithfulness when every other video game cartoon, barring possibly Captain N, threw damn near everything about the games out the window.
Charles Ramirez
>Long John Baldrey will never do his god tier rolling R's for Robotnik again
Nicholas Martinez
as if writers and animators had time to play games when they have official fanfic to write,
also the situations in the games were played for drama, not for laughs, and having an AoSth goofball villain as the centerpiece of a Death Egg like scenario in a cartoon would just come off as weird
Jordan Bennett
the Robotnik design looks nothing like OP's pic, they used the original design for that game
Gabriel Sanchez
He was really the only reason AoStH was any good. The shenanigans in the show weren't even all that funny unless Robotnik was directly involved.
Jeremiah Howard
same reason 2006 was made, Sega just don't know what they are doing most of the time
Owen Flores
Literally all three of them are Sonic 2 enemies. Coconuts appears in Emerald Hill Zone, Grounder in Aquatic Ruin (and Labyrinth Zone from Sonic 1), and Scratch appears on Wing Fortress (and Flying Battery in Sonic Mania)
Julian Adams
Super Mario Bros. 3, too.
Evan Fisher
Wrong. He's technically not even the original design, although that's what he's closest to. The eyes are the black eyes from either cartoon, the suit looks like a recolor of his AoSTH suit (it's missing the yellow cape and has the line down the front), but his proportions are nothing like either of those games and are instead his classic proportions
Brandon Kelly
You mean this goofy smile?
Nicholas Bennett
CASANOVA KOOPAAAAH
Jacob Bailey
I always forget about the shitty American art
Ryder Parker
I feel like I appreciate these shows on a completely different level now. As a retarded 8 year old I was happy just seeing my favorite video game characters on TV and didn't give a shit what they were actually doing. Now I watch these shows and laugh my ass off.
Juan Martin
I fucking forgot about casanova koopa, maybe it's a good idea to go back and watch these so I can relate
Leo Gonzalez
Same. I was around 8 or so at the time when I started watching them and just liked seeing all of the references to the games. Any enemy or boss or power up. I didn't even know Milli Vanilli was an actual artist back then, but then I was only a little kid when SMB3 was airing.
Yeah, it was in that episode where Wendy was pretending to be a hot chick, seducing Mario.
Leo Taylor
>American boxart
Juan Garcia
Remember this ridiculous ass inverted mermaid? Or how about the episode where the Koopalings started a race war by painting half the townsfolk blue and the other half red?
Joseph Diaz
I also remember that weird ass episode with them all turning into babies. There was one where Peach went on vacation to Hawaii, too, and sang Girls Just Wanna Have Fun or something which gets into obscure WWE lore since Cyndi Lauper had wrestling-related ties with Lou Albano, who voiced Mario
Zachary Anderson
Why the fuck would the American cartoon not use the American box art as an influence?
Dylan Powell
I don't remember this weird mermaid shit at all, but I do remember the race war. I really ought to go back and watch this stuff
William Barnes
Oh yeah, the baby episode. Baby peach a cute. Holy shit I forgot about the WWE lore. Remember Gold Finger? Fucking James Bond episode
Caleb Sanchez
But it wasn't, FaggostalgiaCrigaytic.
Adventures was globally accepted as the best cartoon and gad the longest reruns.
Lucas Brooks
Actually, COLD finger. That's how I learned about that fucking villain, from the Super Mario Bros cartoon. I remember my mom telling me about him after watching it.
Julian Nguyen
I remember the James Bond episode, and the Indiana Joe (yeah, Joe) one too.Oh, and Darth Koopa. That show was fucking nuts
Michael Ortiz
It's like a mermaid for foot fetishists...
Joseph Cook
Who?

Of course Americans will think their design is the best

Any random screenshot from this cartoon looks insane without context.
Thomas Martin
i still can't believe people take sonic this seriously. it was never good. not as a game series, cartoon or anything else. even the porn is all weird docking and cumflation shit.
who gives a shit about the limb proportions of a bipedal hedgehog or which localisaton the bad guy is based on. jesus christ. so much autism over a platformer that was retardedly easy. you just hold right, theres not even a run button. just hold right until you walk into a spring, sometimes you have to make super easy jumps or hold down. if you can collect 1 "ring" youre basically invincible. the level design is garbage. the only good thing was the music but thats true of every 1st party sega game.
Aiden Smith
Remember this?
Wyatt Smith
THIS is peak Eggman design.
Ayden Ross
Sonic, including the fandom, was fine until somewhere between Sonic Adventure 1 and 2. I don't know what happened but those two games sent everything off the rails.
Aiden Butler
someone post "Luigi's chinese cowboy impression is so racist it causes mario's stomach ulcer to burst"
Carson Murphy
That's what makes them such good material for Yea Forums.
Isaiah Davis
Koopa was just too evil for Fox.They couldn't handle it.
Charles Price
I liked what he looked like in the sonic boom cartoon the most.
Blake Morales
Dylan Nguyen
Probably because the game had a good aesthetic and fun gameplay, but then Adventure made everything look like "real life" or whatever with a more serious story and then Adventure 2 took it overboard with terrorist attacks and child murder. Not to mention the gameplay transitioned into 3D decently at best, abysmally at worst
Adam Turner
based fox shit canning furry media. think of how many lives were spared the curse of having a scalie/bara fetish thanks to this heroic act
Isaac Bennett
Thank you
Robert Walker
Lucas Murphy
I was never a fan of the american looks. But his personality was the best, that is why comic Eggman still the best because its the adventures look and the cruel aa fuck Robotnik from the series and comics

with that cast, if this film ends up being good its going to require the best performance of Jim's career desu
Zachary Martin
That's it. I have had it with that blasted hedgehog, i'll finally get one over on him now. That's right Sonic, you may not know it yet but i'll get you to FUCK me Dr. Robotnik. After that those emeralds will be mine! Muahahahaha!!

I wonder how many got the reference
Camden Perez
he looks like he's about to slap the biggest fucking nut button.
Wyatt Edwards
The claims that the characters had no personality is false. Sonic Team had personalities in mind for these characters and had them documented. DiC/Archie was working from vague notes passed between branches of Sega. Sonic and Tails are somewhat faithful, and so is aosth Robotnik (yet even then they had to completely change his name and design for some reason). They decided to ignore what little material they had to make up their own stupid shit for satam given its writers were up their own asses and wanted to make their own edgy concept.
Adrian Ross
both of them are in Sonic 2
