Just coming off of training that 623 corner combo stuff with Enkidu. Not sure if I should give it a shot tonight or let it settle in before I give it ago since i didn't really give it enough time to feel like I can do it even less than half the time I attempt it.

I've played Kohime at Round 1 and the animations looked so jank, I'm sure it's a fun game though but it just ain't for me, despite having played the source material.

No worries. I need to learn how to block netplay assaults at some point anyways. I can't get particularly salty about lag in the mirror matchup anyways.

Neither since most characters will be on the ground and air-blocking only extends to other aerial attacks and projectiles.

How hard is it to pick up and is it worth it. Been looking to get into a new fighting game since MK11 is shit and im sick of GG BB and SFV

I was fighting some ranked games earlier and was reminded of this. The 623A > EX Kuuga trick with Linne definitely works, you just need to be like how Hyde does it and cancel into it on the first hit before you're airborne.

If you have experience with other fighting games, it's real easy, the skill floor is pretty simple in general I feel. The only real difficulty acclimating to the game is that it incorporates a lot of delays in its combo structure and reverse beat takes a while to get used to.

I've been intrested in this game for a while and one costs 5,59 while the other is 27,19

the pricier one is the latest version of the game and includes new characters.

You have to realize something, most people outside these lobbies probably don't get the consistent playtime and experience and are generally incredibly mediocre at the game. Give yourself some credit since you're really annoying to fight sometimes.

MKXL is just MKX with all its dlc. Late[st] on the other hand is a whole separate game since it includes more than just a few characters. It adds/changes system mechanics and adds the stuff here

I played a ton of fighting games as a kid but since then i have barely bought any. Is UNIST a good place to (re)start?

People call it Anime Street Fighter but it's still got anime combos. I think Anime KoF is a bit more accurate.

It's spotty on both platforms honestly. Good when it's good, bad when it's bad, although i hear more horror stories with 10 frames of lag on PC a bit more frequently.

Nope. I grew up playing Soulcalibur and SF and decided to start playing pretty much just those now that I'm older - SFV and SC6 are my main games; I haven't even touched anime fighters

Hit up that tutorial and mission mode. It's incredibly detailed and a good chunk of the combos are actually worth using until you get good enough to start optimizing.

Unist was the first game I ever put any serious time into and I had basically no experience in the genre aside from a few casual hours of melty blood. The mechanics are very simple to understand and there's an extensive tutorial for literally everything you can do, so I think from personal experience it's one of the best if not the best place to start.

I just practiced a lot and watched a lot of other people play. Execution is always the hardest part of learning a character for me and I only seem to be able to make it work by putting in a ton of hours.

Ah I see. Well this game does have alot of traditional 2D fighting game elements and instead of air dashes you get air assaults which are like a second jump (some characters get an extra jump on top of that).

Combos normally last no longer than about maybe 10-15 seconds if they're done to completion I'd say so it's not too bad on length.

Who do you play in SF?

I know what ya mean, hahaha. Playing the waiting game against these tricksters and zoners can be pretty stressful.

I guess it would be that it's easier to read when your pressure ends compared to some other Phonon's. She can get pretty obnoxious when I'm playing Vat but I can navigate your offense better than some of the really good Phonon's I run into. Thought that could just be because we played each other so much,.

I love fighting games, I have a fight stick, I mostly play Tekken 7 these days but PS3 era I played a lot of P4AU and Blazblue. Under night looks cool! I'm kind of a waifu fag so I've already collected a lot of art of people like Linne for example but I've never played. Idk why I'm sharing all of this I'm kind of just sitting here sick with a cold and I don't get paid till the 10th so I can't spend my wagies on UNIST till then and I'll probably be buying Yakuza Kiwami 2 around then anyway. yeah, I suppose that's true. I noticed that since I started trying to be more scary up close I stopped using FF in my strings and resetting with b fireball. I should probably 4b more but I whiff it way too much so I'll probably work on that. Do you think I should try to throw A fireball in my strings more since it's plus to reset pressure or catch mashes?

I believe so. I was gonna enter with my friends but I bullied one out of playing the game and I don't really feel it now that he hasn't touched the game in monthshe said he just got super bored with it :thinking:

Also, also, sometimes it feels like you're a bit too quick on the trigger for 2a mash which makes sense since phon's 2a is so good. I remember a few times where I was saying "just wait for vorpal" to myself while playing you and then you committed to something, got counter hit or TRM'd, then lost momentum and eventually the round.
I'm still not super familiar with Phonon (I'll pick her up one day) but a pressure reset beyond rebeats sounds like it would spice things up.

Honestly Phonon just seems like a better Gord to me

I know exactly how you feel, I've had periods where i stopped playing phonon altogether because i got so frustrated with my inability to open atic up.
I don't really know exactly why, but i will say i feel like that's gotten to be less of an issue for me lately. of course i can't stay in purple to save my life, but then being a fraud never bothered me too much.

I popped in occasionally in /unig/ and played a few times with I think a couple /ggg/ dudes. It just wasn't alive most of the time.

New to these threads but I'm gonna assume youre talking about some byakuya players? Does byakuya mess up phonon free or is this a mag thing, cause I'd pick up byakuya if it means less phonon problems.

Yeah, they're the resident byakuya players. I wouldn't say Byak completely schools the match-up but they'd probably show you by visual example on how to get around her.

Like with all things new, you'll definitely get there with practice (though sometimes the grind can be real with learning how to deal with zoning characters and you just have to play the waiting game for GRD more often than not).

it's when a combo continues when the player taking it could have escaped but failed to for whatever reason. I stopped holding the button to recover and ate shit for it.

Here's a tip sai, instead of spending meter for j236C to make sure you can combo off of the divekick once you hit the ground, just delay some aerial hits leading to the divekick so you're both closer to the ground to combo after.
Enkidu is all about those delays to combo properly.

I was interested in byakuya but turned off when people described him as a setplay monster, made him seem one dimensional. How do sha and sean express different styles with that?

Sha used to be pretty basic in his approach and combos but then he adopted for a playstyle that made people come to him and chase him down against his webs while he just concentrates and tries to win GRD. His combo game improved immensely in the gap.
Sean has trouble finishing his plate but when he first came to the lobbies he had Byakuya's ridiculous delay cancel windows down and that surprised me. As of right now, they play a bit similarly in waiting for people to come to them instead of initiating pressure.

Surely Sankt has a stream of them playing against eachother in one of his archived videos (unless it was on one of the days he doesn't come in to play).

For Australia it would be the one with more than 5 players

He just means stages with fewer moving parts and don't cause as much lag as other stage, like training room.

There are some that have better latency than others so it's more beneficial to play them if you're playing against someone with 2 bars or less. It's not a rule we follow 100% though and it's mainly for convenicence so feel free to play how you like.

Good thing music isn't locked to certain stages (unless you listen to your own music while you play which some people do).

I'm just a lurker. Havent been playing the game very long. I dont really have much experience fighting good Yuzu, Seth, or Enkidu, so it's kinda enlightening to see how they're really meant to be played.

The game is good in our opinions because we've been playing it but maybe you should yar-har the PC version and give it a try-before-you-buy approach if you're really unsure.

If you're starting out you can ignore a huge majority of the mechanics. Completing the tutorial in one go mean jack all. It is meant to be a resource that you revisit here and then.

I've been playing the game for almost 2 years and I've still never beaten it. Some of those tutorials are absurdly difficult.

I haven't finished the tutorial either. The OSes in the advanced section are beyond me

Funny you say that. I recently tried out Melty after diving deep into UNIST for the last 8 or so months and was able to do some mediocre BnBs with a supposedly more technical character in C. Kohaku.

I think you'll be fine with only knowing the basics of the game if you already have experience in Melty (even if there is little carry over between the games).
