It's an enthusiast headset, any game that releases for it will be available on many vr platforms. The index is for people who like early adopting and arent poor.
That being said I'll buy one when it drops to $699. If it's anything like their other hardware I'll just keep using my vive for a year and get it pretty cheap.

They upped the resolution by a bit, but lowered the refresh rate to 80 Hz. It also looks to be a lot more comfortable to wear than the base, being more similar to the PSVR, so it'll be a lot easier to put on, and fit to your head. All inside out tracking too, so no sensors required (which is good or bad, depending on who you ask). I'm mainly just interested in possibly replacing my current Rift with one because of the aforementioned comfort improvements. With the one I have, the straps start to dig into the top and back of my head after about 20 minutes, but i have to keep it on tight, or light bleeds in, and it'll slip around on my face.
