What edition are you running? If you're doing 5th, ask in 5eg on /tg/. There's also a homebrew thing with some of the classes, but I think you could try replicating most of them to varying degrees of success with the base game. Other than that, if you homebrew some FF style enemies I think you'll be fine. The nice thing about these tabletop role playing games is how flexible they are, even in just one system.

Once at Little Ala Mhigo they tried to summon Rhalgr to fuck everything up for everyone, and once at Baelsar's Wall they tried and succeeded in summoning Shinryu, who was thought to be an apocalyptic being greater even than Bahamut, which unchecked may have destroyed the whole world, for the sake of forcing the liberation of their homeland regardless of the damages they'd do. They've caused more death and destruction than most of the proper antagonists so far and have proven to deserve any and all suffering they've gone through. Supplemental lore like the history of Ala Mhigo and stuff like the Bard quests also proves they've always been violent and uncaring assholes even back before they were "oppressed" refugees.

But rather than act back in violence, the Gridanians chose to ignore it and hide the truth that they already know in order to pursue peace even after that.

People will sing Heavensward's praises but let me give you a proper answer. People treat HW like New Vegas and ignore every fault you can think of. The start of Heavensward is fetching central and absolute shit, the story gets boring as sin.. but the later parts of HW and primal fights are fun enough. HW's story is relevant and interesting during the later part. I'd say it's worth doing since it'll be relevant for Shadowniggers and it picks up a fair bit but be prepared for absolute dogshit at the start.

Personally I'd say skip everything that doesn't seem interesting, there is very little content in there that's all that story relevant until the finale of 2.5.
It's really not worth buying a story skip for, you can get through 2.1-2.4 in an evening or two if you just mash through dialogue and skip cutscenes.

If you'd rather stick to WAR that's a good option too, it's pretty much just as easy nowadays.

tl;dr keep your party topped off with cooldowns (Tetragram, Assize, etcetcetc) and then save your GCDs for heavy heals or damage. WHM has the fewest mechanics out of any class in the game and it allows you to learn fights fairly quickly imo

It is, but though they'll likely get a rework of some kind soon.

Besides you can always do dungeons with your AI squadron mates to pick up the basics of a job without having to fuck things up for other people, it's handy if you've a decent-level job you haven't played in ages.

The only issue with playing healer is that, since you're at the back, you easily see what everyone is doing and when someone fuck up you'll spot it instantly.
If you're the kind of guy that easily get mad that ain't gonna be a "chill evening session"

Tanking is easily the most chill, if that's what you are looking for I wouldn't make the switch to healer.
Tanking you always just do your own thing and most encounters have barely any mechanics for you to worry about.
Healing you need to wipe up everyone's garbage and whenever your group has a couple of dumbfucks it will get pretty hectic to try and recover.
