The problem with Fire Emblem is that it's best games had horrible releases. I might love Kaga, but releasing FE5 as late as he did was a bad fucking move. Then IS double downed on the retardation by releasing FE10 at the same time as fucking Mario. Ultimately Fire Emblem died when Kaga left. The Tellius games could have brought it back if ISIS wasn't retarded. FE11 and FE12 being shitty remakes were the final nail in the coffin. Awakening and everything afterwards is a publicized raping of it's corpse that only could have happened because they actually tried advertising instead of shooting themselves in the foot againconquest had it's heart in the right place but is fucked by all the retardation surrounding Fates. I'll admit that the GBA games are pretty good too, I just don't like how they tried to appeal to a wider audience with them by cutting away mechanics and rehashing FE3's plot with FE6 and then dumbing things down even more to appeal to westerners with FE7.
