BODY AND SOUL SHALL BE TORN ASUNDER
I'm planning on replaying VP1 for the first time in ages (on psp) then finally getting around to the rest of the series. Can someone remind me how to get the good ending, and give me any tips for playing VP2?
I'd pee in her jar, if you know what I'm saying
I'd grow her from scratch, if you know what I mean.
COME TO ME DARK WARRIORS!
BATTLE AWAITS US!
japanese dub is better as always but the English dub has plenty of nice lines.
MY SOUL BURNS
MY POWER HAS AWAKENED!
FINISHING STRIKEE!
DREADED DRAGON!
Hey hey, people.
I grow tired of you
FINAL BLAST
You need a guide to achive this, ending A.

For VP2 I don't think it's difficult at all, I'd say just pick whatever and enjoy it.
Now, if you are really interested, there is a VP event in Star Ocean Anamnesis, the scenario takes place immediately after the true ending of VP1, it's 3 chapters, currently the only first one has been released.
Star Ocean is the better tri-Ace series.
Anyways, post favorite music.

I really don't want to play mobile trash but it's tempting sometimes
I WANT TO FUCK A VALKYRIE!
The only Tri-Ace game I ever played was Radiata Stories, and I loved it. How does Valkyrie Profile and Star Ocean compares to it? Is it as funny/lighthearted and serious sometimes? Is it worth playing?
There's only one good star ocean game though
mandaloregaming here
valkyrie profile is super srs bsns
Is VP good?
sell me on to it
1-4 are all good though. 5 is just okay.
Star Ocean is generally pretty serious but the private actions (especially in 4) can be hilarious and really help develop the characters
I also want to fuck a Valkyrie
1 is good, 2 is great, 3 is garbage, 4 is mediocre.
actually, yeah, I can kinda agree with you on 3 being garbage. the story is good until halfway through and the battle system just falls apart once you learn Side Kick.
I'd play VP1 on ps1. VP2 needs a special build of pcsx2 unless they finally fixed it.

For A ending, don't wear the nibelung ring at the end of chapters, meet Lucian in town before you recruit him (I forget what chapter you get him in but ch4 or 5 is a good time to visit his town). Visit the flower field with Lucian in the party in ch6 or 7. Fight brahms sometime in ch5 or 6. and Send Lucian up in ch 6 or 7. You'll get a scene with him when the time is right and he'll get framed for stealing the dragon orb sometime in ch8.
I think that's all you need to do, and most of it is just to get your seal rating low enough by ch 7 since you can do a lot of it earlier and the seal rating will go up between chapters. Also don't give odin the divine treasures, they're more useful to you. You can usually fill all the einherjar requirements they want with one character too, and when they want someone with a special skill even just lv1 in that skill is fine. So if an accessory gives it, that works too
Just play the event and that's it.
I played VP1 on ps1 the first time, am I missing anything major on psp?
>VP2 needs a special build of pcsx2 unless they finally fixed it.
>mediafire.com
Awesome, thanks!
Seems like I shouldn't have a hard time getting the good ending.
By the way the voices are way cheesier than I remember. Should I switch to jap voices?
No, it's like playing Kingdom Hearts in japanese.
Not only that it
>invalidates the previous SO games' existences as nothing but video games in the 4D world and therefore no SO game in 1+2s continuity even matters
>has the most nonsensical reasoning behind why Fayt & co. can even survive in 4D
>has an even more nonsensical reasoning in how none of them died at the end
>AI is massively flawed in that you need to spend your level up points that could instead be spent on HP/MP to give them the ability to cancel their moves, sidestep, etc.
>But if you spend TOO MANY points in defense, the AI will become too passive, and there's no way to reverse this
>Also there are some moves that the AI just flat out can't use properly/cancel into/cancel out of, despite the player able to do so. Some of these were fixed in PAL, but only a few
>MP Death trivializes a chunk of bosses, mostly between getting access to item creation and Mosel
>Bonus gauge is dumb, level too much and it becomes a massive chore to refill. Randomly get shot from across the map? Broken instantly.
>Also it penalizes not playing the game in one massive session due to completely emptying on load
4 fixed a lot of these issues, losing your Boner when turning off the game still sucks, but at least it's easier to build back up and retain with the pair up bonus. It's just a shame the cast was almost entirely unlikable, and combat was spam blindsides to win.
I've never played kingdom hearts, what does that mean?
For some reason they used the original japanese version of VP1 for the psp port, so the improved menus and stuff on ps1 were gone. and then the PSP version replaced some cutscenes with CG which look fine but replaced exposition on kinda important stuff. I guess if you've already played ps1 though it doesn't matter.
>losing your Boner when turning off the game
Speak for yourself
>side kick
Dear god that attack is busted.
I'm genuinely curious who play tested that move and told the team "yeah, this is fine. nothing wrong with it."
it's not that bad actually. sure, it has a lot of iFrames and triple hits, but it whiffs so much, especially against small and/or mobile enemies like Robin Wind.
Cliff's Fists of Fury is better for stunlocking, Roger's Charge is better for spamming, and Cliff's Areola Salt is probably the best move in the game
>using Roger
I didn't even know he existed until the end cutscene
Convince me to play Star Ocean 4
You didn't miss much. Just a shitty optional sidequest and a character that has one single usable skill.
Eh. It's better than 3. Reimi is kinda cute and has decent interactions with Edge.
I find it funny how the VP mobage came out in the west to almost nonexistent reception
When that person says the battle system falls apart once you learn side kick, he's not just talking about its damage.
It's a dodge, it has iframes, it's a repositioning tool, it does good damage, it has a low hp cost, it effortlessly combos into itself, it's fast.
The point is that you can literally do nothing but spam side kick and come out on top in nearly every situation.
If it misses so what, just use it again.
What's the enemy gonna do?
>Crystal Cerberus
Backstep, sideswipe, upspike launch into aerial juggle, block and wide sweep
>Robin Wind
Fly away, Thunder Flare or Rising Stream which hit through iframes
>shit in 4D space
bombardment of endless missiles, rifles, and machine guns
>everything on 4D difficulty
parry one hit and gain complete invulnerability from the rest of the attack, reposition and counter as iframes wear off
Its not that popular in Japan and it's like 3 years late. 3 years is end of life for most subpar performing games. I absolutely love VP and Star Ocean, and both of them got really decent mobages but there's not much of anything to actually do in them besides grind events every 2 weeks. And VA's hard time gating on the 6* weapon LB materials and gacha weapon powercreep combine into a whale or get fucked setup down the line.
If you were to start now you should just reroll for Freya, a 6* weapon for her and Schveltlight and then save up for like a year or two for Hrist, and Edgy Lezard or one of the holiday versions.
For the star ocean one you missed out on 2B but the current VP characters are all very good. Dunno if global is still jewing LB crystals hard, its why i stopped playing a few months ago. No point in rolling if they kept taking out the medium and large LB crystals from event shops.
I'M GONNA SAY IT
Valkyrie Profile 2 was a good game.
You know, you just missed the radiata stories event in jp. I got jack free. I miss that game.
the battle system they used was actually great
Story of my life.
I would daresay its one of the best arpg combat systems.
The dragon lady was my main nuker until I got motherfucking Freya.
THIS SHALL BE ENGRAVED UPON YOUR SOUL
DIVINE ASSAULT
NIBELUNG VALESTI
SURELY YOU REALIZE, RESISTANCE IS WORTHLESS
Thoughts on CotP? I played the game once and it was okay, kinda tiresome to gangbang every enemy to overkill though. I did the good route in my first playthrough and don't really feel like playing the other routes. I wouldn't mind if I was killing my characters to achieve something separate from gameplay but it makes me feel like I'm being forced to play bad on purpose.
it's got good combat and isn't as awful and ugly as 3
mystina was the best girl
it's the prettiest game in the series, has a PC port that runs very well, has some of the best music in the series, has the best combat of any of the games, and it has Reimi
star ocean 4 has meracle
star ocean 3 doesn't even have that
that alone makes 4 better than 3, not to mention 3's awful combat
based
youtube.com
I spent so much time in the Seraphic Gate perfecting my timing with Brahams and Freya. The amount of damage you could deal with them was absurd.
3 was good. 4 was ok 2 psx is best next to 1 psp
>star ocean 4 has meracle
On the other hand, it has Sarah.
is valkyrie profile 2 good?
hrist's game never fucking ever
>thinking 3 is good
lemme rank the games for you
1>4>power gap>5>3
I haven't played 2 yet
Sarah is a good girl, shut up
Yes
They didn't really setup anything for her to have a game between 1 and 2. Hell most of her screentime in 2 is still being a bitch outside of like 3 times they make her seem like she has sisterly love kinda and bonded with Alicia.
I remember when I played VP I got to a point quite early on where I had nothing else to do and only the starting dungeon to grind in. What was I missing?
I'll agree that the original 2 was the best followed by the psp remake of 1 but I feel a lot of people shit on the psp port of 2
you had to keep going in and out of areas until you could progress when the time runs out
You divine to find stuff to do in that chapter. Once you do it all any days you have left are free to do whatever with. Just grind or sleep them off. there's 0 need to grind in the game if you know what you're doing so sleeping them off is fine.
I'm not having fun with VP2 at the moment, very bored at the beginning of Chapter 3. Does the story/gameplay get more exciting soon? Thinking of dropping it desu
Yes, but it doesn't get Curazy until ch 6 or so.
you did it wrong
she speaks in ALL CAPS, LIKE THIS
because it was always loud as shit
COME TO ME DARK WARRIORS, BATTLE AWAITS US!
also, is the DS game still good?
i haven't played it since it came out.
Valkyrie Profile is my favorite JRPG of the Playstation era and one of my favorite games ever, to the point where I would put it on my 3x3 (if I were one of those douches).
I tried to play 2; dropped it when I found that it followed a traditional JRPG structure rather than the self-contained missions you had on 1.
Never bothered with any of the other games, I want a good, no smarphone port, PC port of 1.
big question
is the MOBILE port anything good?
i know its like the PSP version, but mobile phone.
Oh, and forgot to add, I prefer the Playstation version over the PSP version due to
a. The anime cutscenes
b. The voice samples + portraits
c. The PSP version forces that king of Dipan subplot that they used for the sequel in the same vulgar way every Chrono Trigger port forces Chrono Cross shit.
OUGI
VOIDO EKSTURIMU
You should play 2. It's a linear story but the way the world and dungeons work is the same. The basis of the story was setup in 1, so if you were curious about the various things left unresolved in 1, 2 is where you get that information. (Brahms having silmeria, what happened in Dipan, why barbarosa is haunting it and you going back in time there)
It's also not just a prequel.
Thanks for your words but I refuse. I already gave that game a chance and 1 had a pretty nice self-contained story (even with Lezard Valeth shenanigans).
If that post credits scene was any interesting at all to you after 1's A ending then you might want to reconsider. 2 is extremely good even if the beginning is a bit boring. It stops being a hunt for the dragon orb and instead crazy shit and twists after a few chapters.
Fuck yes, I actually prefer to play VP2 over 1 any day. VP1 has a better story but gameplay wise it's just good, while VP2 has an ok story and extremely good gameplay
I miss these games so fucking bad you guys have no idea. Radiata Stories and VP 1 and 2 left a void nothing else has EVER filled.
VALKYRIE PROFILE HRIST NEVER EVER
My normalfag brother wants to play a jrpg, is this a reasonable choice? I can't tell what's normalfag-friendly or not. Only issue that comes to mind immediately is the cheesy voice acting.
You are really missing out, it might not be the same as VP1 but it's still a good game, that's like saying you won't play any other game available because it's not exactly as VP1.
It's different. Valkyrie Profile is one of many games I love, not "the only one". I just don't consider a sequel worth playing if it strips the core idea from the original game.
For example, Nioh is one of my favorite games this gen; I loved it enough to double dip when it was released on Steam even when I already had put 300 hours into the PS4 version. If I buy Nioh 2 and find that it has a single interconnected world instead of its world map and self-contained levels I'll drop it without looking back because I wanted to play the sequel to Nioh, not some Dark Souls ripoff.
Not him but different doesn't automatically mean good or that it will have the same appeal. I can see why some people would like 2 but it didn't retain very much of what I liked about 1.
>I just don't consider a sequel worth playing if it strips the core idea from the original game.
The only thing it took out is that it isnt Ragnarok anymore. Which is expected since it takes place 500 years before hand. If you cared about the characters and world lore than 2 has you covered. There's not really much I can say without spoiling big parts holy fuck does the story go into overdrive. And the gameplay is consistently solid as hell. The seraphic gate is also not a menu choice this time
This game was 10/10, anyone who skips it is a sucker
Fair enough, although for the kind of story VP2 has, the old system can't work. I hope you give it a shot one day.
>valkyrie profile thread... here i come!
I'll be honest: I played 2 before 1, and I loved it so much, i nearly completed the seraphic gate and put more than 100 hundred hours on it, the story while a bit slow in the beginng truly pick ups later and I loved it so much.
I loved the combat of 2 so much that i was never able to get into 1, especially because i have limited time between chapters, i've seen videos of the first to know the story and i liked it, i also really loved to see the story of all the einherjar, which brings me back to 2 we're all einherjar are tied to one another and brings more lore to the world.
I made my peace and i know a third one is basically impossible but i truly miss hearing "Nibelung Valesti".
What did you like about this series Yea Forums?
I wish the game had been released on the Vita. I am considering buying the PSP just to play Valkyrie Profile.
Turnbased rpg with 2D platformer with elements all based on Norse mythology. Why are you still reading this, go play it.
Valkyrie profile is like on the completely opposite end of the goofy to serious scale than radiata stories. The first game is pretty grim the whole way through, especially considering a lot of the game is spent watching the various final moments of every character you recruit
>Should I switch to jap voices?
depends, do you want Lezard to sound like DIO? If so, yes.
I'm here to advocate for the VP DS srpg. It has the same somber attitude and the theme is incorporated into the gameplay where you have to make tough choices sacrificing your characters to power through many encounters. Although I feel the protagonist was made into a teenager to appeal to the handheld demographic, he nonetheless isn't a plucky idiot like what you'd expect from a handheld jrpg.
I had forgotten about this game. Never played it. Thanks for the reminder, user.
I thought it was okay Are the alternate endings and good?
There's 3 endings. The bad ending, the less bad ending and the good ending.
The bad ending ends with You kill the valkyrie but learn it was pointless since she'll just reincarnate. You then go to hell
The less bad ending is the above, but your dad takes your place, blaming himself for your vendetta
The good ending I can't quite remember.
It's easier to get better endings after the first run because the plume buffs stay with you between runs. They expected it to take more than one run for the best ending.
Well I'm glad I went with the good route then.
Even if it wasn't the greatest, I miss the days when every series got a trpg.
It is worth noting that the story itself and the characters you recruit changes based on the path you are on. Characters that you recruit in one path may be killed in another. So you get to see multiple sides to each chapter.
