I did buy it, and I enjoyed it, and I even shilled it to the one other friend with a Wii U and she bought and enjoyed it.

They only become really annoying when you've filled out your party and unlocked a bunch of extra abilities that extend the animations.

But I agree that the game drags on a bit. Strangely enough the leveling speeds up near the end game, it gets really annoying having to assign abilities for 2-4 characters after every single battle in that final Idolasphere. I just wanted to get this over with by the end.

It had a more interesting and dynamic battle/skill system than P5 in my opinion.
This game would have been huge if Nintendo didn't go full Mormon on the English release. It's got a lot to love about it if you can ignore how haphazardly they censored stuff. Especially since they censor stuff that still shows up in battles uncensored.

The game had mixed reactions from the start. The censorship only ended up alienating the few weebs that were gonna drop money on it. But even if it wasn't censored, I highly doubt the game would have had P5's level of success.

Bullshit. You exploit a weakness, then watch things roll for 20 seconds, and if you can't, you use one of the SP skills that forces a Session activation and/or a weakness into the enemy. Strategically it's the same thing, except with more downtime and without the in-battle Persona switching.
