I actually forgot about this game
Story mode was good.
But fuck the Online.
Unironically a shit game. Linear mission design in an open world game is the dumbest shit ever.
You deserve it for having one of the worst onlines ever.
>Unironically a shit game.
I'm literally playing this game right now, you double faggo.
Might as well link my rant. I just have nothing else to add.
yes that is what happens when you overdesign a game and put too much tedium and realism that gets in the way of fun
Im enjoying my second run these days. Ive found countless new interesting things in the wild. Also theres so many little hints scattered throughout the story and camp interactions that foreshadow the upcoming events. Def worth 2 playthroughs
2019... but am i forgotten?
>Tied highest metacritic of this generation
>Best sales of any game this generation
>More GoTYs than any Nintendoshit or PClard game as well as Soulsborne shit.
No shitty faggot OP is going to change those facts. Cope and HAVE SEX
this game was worthless sjw pandering trash and I loved RDR1
Cope.
>Just did that mission where Arthur gets drunk and wakes up far away without a horse
>See a woman getting kidnapped
>Chase after the the horse she's on trying to to stop it
>Finally shoot the guy off
>Horse runs away when I get close, more chasing
>Finally get her off the horse and untie her
>Lose karma
I did a second playthrough to do a more dishonorable run and holy shit is it way more fun
>robbing every fuck I see and every homstead I encounter
>finally figured out how to rob trains with no bounties
>blow away anyone who shit talks me
I'm just worried about the ending sucking but that's nothing a 30 minute walk saying "howdy Mam" to every fucker in Saint Dennis couldn't fix.
Story mode sucked ass.
I still miss him
Wait, did people play the game as honorfags? In a fucking Wstern? As a fucking outlaw? What gives?
Yea, the honor system was retarded. It was way to strict. I fucking got a bounty for "disturbing the peace".... In the Wild Wild West.....
Not him, but I'm 29 in 2 months and I think it sucks.
no, this one just looks better in comparison
Probably because your parents couldn't put down the bottle because they had you. Now fuck off I got work to do.
Was it kino?
How close am I to the end lads? Just hit Chapter 4 and I don't want it to end.
That Manor sequence was kino
And yet, you keep making salty threads about it everyday.
6 main story chapters and 2 epilogue ones with marston
That doesn't mean much to me if Chapters 5, 6 and Epilogues 1&2 are short as shit.
I'm assuming i'm 50% done though?
>That Manor sequence was kino
Hell yeah
youtube.com
I actually didn't get the hype between that mission.
>hear all this hype about it
>it's a pretty short winded gun fight section like every other mission in the game
The context was cool, music/visuals were truly great but gameplay wise it was meh. To be honest, the more I think about why I like the game and the more I realise it's just how much it makes you FEEL like assassins creed a cowboy. The atmosphere is unmatched.
Missions are pretty fucking boring if i'm honest
I said good, not perfect. A lot of missions involve a gone wrong scenario where we have to shoot our way out.
maybe she was a bad guy
do you have to ask? of course it was
>forgotten
just had a day long thread today m8
sorry
Best mission. That, or the final one/Jim Milton/Micah’s Incel Rebellion in Strawberry
If it’s lawmen or bounty hunters, then yes, you lose honor. If it’s a single lunatic shouting creepy things at her, then no, that’ll gain you honor, maybe even involve asking you to take her back to where she lives. She might reward you with a rare item that you need to craft a talisman, like the alligator tooth or bear claw.
Anyway, I’ve done one of these random events where a lady’s horse just up and died on her, and I took her to Emerald Ranch. She gave me a valuable item, told me about the shooting that happened in the bar, the graves, and the ranch owner’s girl whose silhouette appears in the window of the manor at night but isn’t allowed to leave because she’s connected to the bar shooting. The ranch owner is even openly hostile to you if you get near. I thought the game was nudging me to investigate and know the whole story, but all I could do was see the shot-up bar and defuse/antagonize the ranch owner.
Am I missing something, or did I do it wrong?
>RDR2
>SJW pandering
What did he mean by this?
Are there any black coats in this game that isn't the ugly ass duster? I found a "greyish" coat as a part of the Drover outfit in Saint Denis or something but it's more grey and not black (looks horrible with the black stalker cap).
I just want a Van Cleef coat for fuck sake
its just L O R E
>drover
>grey
It's black m8 and you get it from Waylton(or something) station general store, not Saint Denis. I think you're confusing the Drover coat for the Grey Shotgun coat.
Pic related is the drover coat
If it’s just a “lore” tidbit, then that’s lame. Realistic games always have the lamest lore.
based Chadstar
Based.
ban this man
RDR 1 was fine
2 tried to pander to normalfags by making it less of a game and more of a cinematic exploration experience like 99% of PS4 exclusives are(normalfags who spend less than 5 hours a week on gaming are the #1 demographic for Sony)
Normalfags outnumber actual gamers, it can't be helped. At least we still have anime.
>Linear mission design
What the fuck did this zoomer retard mean by this? You mean story missions? Jesus christ fucking end yourself
>tfw you have to have the highest honor just to get it and can't use cheats to get it because it won't let you save anymore if you do
>Mash X to speed up horse
>Lose speed the very second you stop mashing X
Why??
There's more to it. If you investigate you find a letter hinting that she's a kidnapped princess and some shit. Not everything needs to be a flashy mission with set pieces and explosions. It just breathes more life into the world.
Kinda like when I found this shack full of dead bodies and I noticed a bloodtrail leading behind the shack with a dead woman and a letter. Read the letter and it was essentially some roastie telling some incel to leave her alone and I put 2+2 together and realised the incel got jealous and slaughtered the whole family (becoming a giga chad).
Now if Witcher 3 handled a piece of environemtnal story telling like that here's how it would have went:
>see shack full of bodies
>"hmm, winds howling"
>ACTIVATE WITCHER SENSES
>LEFT CLICK THUMB STICK TO START MISSION
>"use Witcher senses to find clues"
>follow the red witcher sense trail to the body behind the house
>"Damn, what a shame"
>50xp
>LALALALALALALALALALALALAL
Do you really need shit like that for every little tidbit in games nowadays?
>Sony exclusives
>Movie games
Weak bait.
Just walk around Saint Dennis saying hi to everyone. Took me 20 mins of doing this from low honor and I got there.
What is this revisionism history surrounding RDR1? I swear, whenever I see comments like these it just reeks of PClards pretending to be consolefags who played RDR1.
RDR1 was every bit as cinematic as RDR2. What the fuck am I reading.
Kek
someone didnt play RDR1
fucking this. This is what makes RDR2 so immersive to me. Not everything has a "quest name" tied behind it, it's just subtle shit with cool pieces of story telling to go with it and the occasional reward.
Actually Mario Kart 8 has outsold it.
>LALALALALALALALALALALALAL
Every time
Hello virgin
>By the end of March 2019, the game had sold over 8.44 million copies worldwide,
>RDR2 sold 17 million before it even released
>has hit the 30 million mark
really? why would you talk bullshit like that
Have sex
Fucking this.
RDR2 has the most convincing crafted and loved in world I’ve ever seen in a world.
Walking around saying hi to everyone makes me uncomfortable for some reason
how else am i gonna 100% the game?
Fake news
RDR2 - 23 million (as of February 2019)
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - 16.9 million (as of April 26th)
And that's with Mario Kart 8 releasing a full 5 months before RDR2

this doesnt look very good
I know that there’s a kidnapped princess from Luxembourg in the game, I saw her poster at a bar and thought I’ll eventually get to a point in which the game randomly throws me a hint that this is where I should look for her.
But is this all I can do? Just see instead of do? I don’t want to go to the Wikia and spoil myself.
holy fuck
Based and Red Dead pilled
it makes me laugh that you guys went to the effort of "debunking" that
>pander to normalfags
>by making 10 minute horse rides between towns and making everything else autistic simulation
Combine those two numbers, geniuses.
Wii U sales + Switch sales = More than RDR2. Stay mad.
Reminder that new copies of Mario Kart Wii and 7 are still being sold as well.
Since this is basically just an RDR2 thread at this point, post your Arthur.
does it really bother you that much? theres hundreds of hours of other content in the game that you can "do" but you're bootyblasted about a piece of worldbuilding
I want to marry Arthur.
Quit being a child about it. The game pushed it heavily on me and influenced me to investigate, so I’d be annoyed if it’s literally nothing but a set piece I’m not allowed to touch.
calm down nincel rofl
one npc in the whole fucking game saying something about the world isn't pushing heavily. quit being a child about it.
Where do you get the tricorn hat? I've found the viking helmet and morion helmet but not that
Going by that logic then GTA V is still the best selling "current gen game" if you're using Wii U sales to inflate your numer.
Either way, Rockstar wins. Stay mad Nintendy
I don't hate the game but I fucking hate the people who constantly pretend the story is a modern clasic that's up there with Leone's classics. Shit like that makes my want to bash someone's skull in god fuck man
you dress like shit
The story is fine, not a "modern classic" but it's good enough by video game standards
The story is better than every Leone movie not named C'era una volta il West.
name 5 video games with stories like RDR2's
Post your arthur then cunt, let's ave a giggle
nigga, my Arthur is dead
It's a god-tier story for a video game. There hasn't been a protag this likeable and plot twists this good in a video game in ages.
Kill yourself, subhuman. Your shitty vidya stories will never live up to Leone's works
>trying to act like Leone ever had good stories
what the fuck
*blocks your path*
What's even good about the Leone movies story telling exactly? The reason people loved Leone's movies was the authenticity behind them. It was the best portrayal of the Western setting. The stories themselves were nothing remotely special.
RDR2 achieves similar things in how fucking good the world is. It's pretty much boner inducing for Westernfags like myself.
This. you could of just made it like gta online but no you just had to try and push your luck rockstar.
Yes it was
youtube.com
>FFX
Thanks for having that near the top of the collage so I can discredit the list entirely. Also, VtMBs story was fucking dogshit, what made that game great was it's characters and overall writing, not the story itself.
Stop trying to fit in to Yea Forums's culture so hard
Ya it was.
RDR2 has sold a fraction of what GTAV managed. Rockstar is clearly in decline.
Fuck off, retard. Leone's westerns are kino of the highest caliber.
its pretty fantastic though
FFX has a great story, it just has shitty unlikable characters
>Mass Effect
>Deus Ex
>Baldur's Gate
>Witcher
>Final Fantasy Tactics
>Chrono Trigger 2
>Fallout 2
>Final Fantasy X
holy shit if you actually think any of these had good stories you need to kys immediately. good characters =/= story
Bros when are we getting a pc port I want to replay it so bad but I sold my ps4 pls help
>old good
just because it's old doesn't mean it's good, you retarded contrarian nigger. NIER and TWC1 had garbage stories. and weebshit by default has garbage stories.
didnt it sell well
>What's even good about the Leone movies story telling exactly?
Cinematography
Music
Editing
Dialogue
You know, the stuff that makes a good movie?
Never said they weren't, retard. But their stories are nothing special.
Kino yes, but kino for other reasons besides the story itself.
Explain what about Leone's story was better than RDR2's story.
Maybe because GTA is a much bigger franchise than an autistic cowboy simulator? GTA IV sold way more than RDR1 and then went on to break records with GTA V.
And even if Rockstar was in decline (they aren't), what does that make Nintendo when RDR2 shit on every single Nintendo game sales wise to date?
This.
>what's even good about the story
>here's 4 elements that aren't related to the story
Literally non of those make a great story.
You do know what a story is right?
>music =/= story
>cinematography =/= story
>editing =/= story
>dialogue =/= story
Wew lad
He asked about storytelling, cinematography, editing, music, etc is literally how you tell a story in film, retards
what site?
>and here on today, another contrarian retard blows his cover
>he played the game with high honor
I finished it thinking it was one of the best games I've played and yet I've never wanted to go back to it or do another playthrough.
Its quite exhausting and a chore to play for the most part. Once that initial hype wears off and you start actually getting into the game does it start to become questionable.
see
"how you tell a story" =/= story
Presentation =/= Story
Absolute pleb. I bet you frequently confuse "cinema" with "kino" you filthy casual
the means of telling a story are different from the story itself, retard. they don't contribute to the story's quality, at most they elevate it by adding their own qualities to it and making the overall experience better, but the quality of the story stays the same.
Is it a western?
see
>The stories themselves were nothing remotely special.
He was arguing about the story not being special, you're intentional misrepresenting his argument to prove some weird point.
>user asks about story TELLING
>user lists what makes the story TELLING special
>"But those things have nothing to do with the story itself"
No fucking shit retards, I was talking about story TELLING, you TELL a story in film through editing, cinematography, music etc
Does a single thing change about character interactions or missions if you have low honor or is it just the one or two conversations at camp about what an asshole you are and missing out on the nun scene
see
>"the stories themselves were nothing remotely special"
The original argument was actually this We're arguing story, he was arguing story, you're arguing presentation of said story.
Rockstar has become increasingly reliant on these open world games that no one actually likes to play. Nintendo games come out quicker, are better made, are released on much smaller budgets, and still make a ton of money.
Pokemon alone probably makes more than Rockstar does.
see
You dense fuck god
i play every game like that because im a piece of shit irl
its western adjacent
>that no one actually likes to play.
Sales say otherwise.
Quite a lot changes, especially for the ending. Other minor things like for example the "I know you" stranger guy from RDR1 has minor changes when you find his house, shit like that.
Nothing big desu, nothing to justify playing as some moral fag bandito in a fucking game about outlaws for sure
you're very confused about what the discussion is about.
I'm a piece of shit irl and piece of shit in games.
If i'm willing to be like that towards actual humans, why would I treat video game characters any better
>Go to mission start
>Ride for 10 minutes listening to unskippable expository dialogue
>Get to actual mission start
Bravo Rockstar you've done it again!
I feel the same but not because it isn't a great game, but because I don't want to experience the sadness and drama of the story again. I want an alternate ending.
because you dont know how to change
Back to Fortnite.
The fact that most people never completed chapter 2 says a lot.
Yes, but in he asked about story TELLING
Anyways I did word my original post pretty shitly, with "story" I meant basically everything including the presentation and all.
wow, welcome to 15 years ago!
>yeah but they should've evolved by now
yeah, but old = good, remember? that's Yea Forums's motto.
Most people never complete ANY game.
No, in that same post he asked about both which is his stupid fault but he was replying to a guy speaking about story. So anyone with an IQ above room temperature would be able to understand what his argument is.
He's arguing for story, we're arguing for story.
Just you left?
more people completed RDR2 than people completed RDR1.
those are the people that read the story and decided chapter 2 is the best place to stop and do freeroam
>mfw I didn't get the hype either
I love this game but Pouring Forth Oil just felt better because it had all that buildup.
>Good dialogue with John
>Have to go rob the kerosene company
>Drive the thing there and hide it
>Fuck around for a bit in town to buy stuff before nightfall
>Go back to camp, get dressed to rob train
>Local stupid asshole Sean shows up
>Good banter while driving the tank there
>Arthur suddenly becomes the leader
>Looks like a fucking Chad standing on the train
>Rest of mission is Arthur actually behaving like an outlaw and you understand why the feds want them all dead
The mansion didn't feel as badass. That shot of them all walking up together was memorable, though.
most people never completed Skyrim or Witcher 3, two of the most popular role-playing games of all time.
Who the fuck plays Bethesda games for the main quest
He is god-tier husbando material.
Yep. Just me.
>He's arguing for story, we're arguing for story.
Well, I admit in that case Leone's stories are weak but it's how beautifully he told them that made the movies classics. And RDR2 simply doesn't tell the story as well as Leone's films
I lumped storytelling and all in when I said "story" in the first post, but how the fuck else was I supposed to word it.
Even less % of players completed Witcher 3.
You going to tell me people played Witcher 3 for mods and free roam now too?
I played it for the sex
did you play dark souls for the sex too?
well witcher has one of the best worlds in videogames so yeah
Unironically, yes.
Y-Yes?
Same arguments can be made for RDR2 is the point. I'm not even arguing RDR2 story telling > Leone's movies.
What I am arguing is that RDR2's story telling is pretty fucking great for a video game and even compared to the Western genre as a whole.
Why doesn't RDR2 tell a story as good as Leone's movies exactly? Music, kino moments/shots etc are all fantastic in the game. It also has the added thing that no movie has over gaming narratives and that's an actual attachment to the character you've been playing as for 40+ hours.
So when Arthur starts getting sick, you feel so much more and when John goes back to get his revenge, you also feel so much more. Seems to me that this is another case of "OLD GOOD" AND "NEW BAD" syndrome
Susan is best girl don't even @ me
You misspelled Sadie, user.
>static ass world with no dyanmic encounters, no NPC interaction and formulaic environmental story telling (Monsters nest #304040)
Sure thing PClard, see:
>"OLD GOOD" AND "NEW BAD"
This but unironically.
Complaining in there too standby.
That doesn't make sense. Look at metacritic.
Mary-Beth is Mary-Best.
How will Witcherfags recover?
>"OLD GOOD" AND "NEW BAD"
This but unironically
Not an argument
Cope.
Have sex.
97 metacritc
More sales in its first 2 weeks than Witcher 3s life span
Cope
Cause fuck your x button.
>Couldn't even win GOTY
Too bad everything has a 10 hour delay and it runs at 20fps
Your horse mechanics sucked despite having the first red dead for cultural reference
you know what else has high sales, mcdonalds and capeshit movie tickets. Now try to convince me those are good. Retard
the horse was good in witcher 3 though
I am shook. My eyes are now open.
>Witcher 3 - Q1 release
>RDR1 - Q1 release
>nuGoW - Q1 release
>GoW3 - Q4 release (big GOTY contender in RDR1's year)
>RDR2 - Q4 release
not even him but the pattern is verifiable. late games never win GOTY unless the year had literally nothing else.
Nobody has found her yet.
still waiting for Mexico dlc
but where's gavin?
tfw autistically filling the compendium
Getting as much done as I can as Arthur so the Journal can remain kino.
There are bandit challenges that revolve completely around being a villain.
she's in Undead Nightmare 2.
>metacritic
>not user score
Fuck off paid shill
True. Marston draws like he had a stroke
>The Vampire easter egg in Saint Denis
>Modern Rockstar will never give us single player DLC now
ahhhhhhhhhhh
>Not wanting John kino
>check userscores
>negative review: "not on PC"
yep, reliable metric.
Bruh, John is trash
I gotta give it to Woody Jackson, American Venom is the single best shootout/ending song I've ever heard.
IT WAS A GOOD GAME
BUT NOT A MEMORABLE GAME
AGREE?
Arthur and his story is memorable as fuck though
disagree
if anything it's the opposite
it's the only game I'll cary to my grave with nier automata as the most memorable I've experienced.
It's an incredibly impressive game from story, visual, audio and technical standpoints.
But it's not very fun
I was very surprised Rockstar chose to go the more "realistic" route with guns. I fucking loved having to manually cock revolver hammers and pull the lever, the sound and animation was 10/10. I thought that since it was a console game Rockstar would never have the guts to do that shit but I was pleasantly surprised.
>Mary Sue Sadie
>Forced story mission where you help suffragettes
>mission where you find a homeless old man's belongings, when you find out he's a former slave owner you can kill the defenseless old man for good karma
>Arthur is super progressive, too much for the time
Yeah, it's pozzed and sjw as fuck
Chapter 5 is like 2-3 hours, Chapter 6 is 5-15 hours (depending on your pace) including side content that is missable, Epilogue 1 and 2 can be rushed through in 3-4 hours elsewise can take up to maybe 8-10 hours depending on pace.
>john needs lines to write
>cant even do it straight
oh john
What the fuck are you even talking about?
Wicher 3 is full of this shit.
Trastamara Estate and all the spoons being a good example
damn, this is kino
That coats shit, there's an outfit from the general store in Rhodes that has a Shotgun coat with a pitch black outside and blood red inside, otherwise there's another variant from the general store at the train station west of Valentine/north east of strawberry.
i think about it literally every day, wondering how soon is too soon to play it again
Annesburg and the surrounding area is atmospheric as fuck.
Creepy at night.
I like FFX but the story is pantsu on headu levels of retardism.
>The fucking lines
>didn't even get a higher metacritic than Skyrim
smilingArthur.jpg
>Joking about this
>You will never see all that crazy supernatural shit overrun New Orleans
>But you can buy some gold bars for some new clothes
Why live
Cope and have sex
Cope.
You mean the coat from the gamblers outfit? The one with the ugly ass stripes on it?
That's anything BUT pitch black, nigger, get some taste. Drover coat >>> all
Incredible, isn't it?
Objectively better made than FO4.
Objectively less playable than FO4.
Guess which one I'm still playing in 2019.
>Trastamara Estate and all the spoons being a good example
And it's a giant side quest, thanks for further proving my point
>Cinematic view works to move horse to the objective
>Unless the objective is "follow guy and listen to them talk for 5 minutes"
>Ended up putting a weight over the X button to replicate it
>Trastamara Estate and all the spoons being a good example
That's the fucking dover jacket in this pic Idiot
Go away, Todd.
>switch version
Yikes
>uses the Switch versions metacritic
You're really not help your case against him user
