protagonist is immune to the zombies because they're aliens which feed off of good emotions via serotonin and endorphins. people who feel love, or are conscious of it are most likely to become infected. once you're infected, it uses these feelings to draw more infected together. Suzuki hasn't felt much love in his life, and he's so blind to the fact that he's hollow, he's the only one who ends up making it through the apocalypse.

from what i remember:
story builds up to mc fighting the big bad and trying to save his love interest
author decided to SUBVERT YOUR EXPECTATIONS by having there be no real conclusion, then time skipping to see the mc alone and insane after failing to do anything
there was also a ton of lazy rehashing of artwork which was a huge step down from the first volume
