This shit needs a remake, not FF7

This shit needs a remake, not FF7.

I don't want a remake. I just wish square didn't siphon all the money from this halfway in to make the dumpster fire that is FF8. Xenogears is very nearly a masterpiece.

That's why it needs a remake. For disk 2.

I agree but I really can't stand people like you so fuck off and end your life.

Why?

>Xenogears remade by SE
No.

Remember Chu-Chu died for our sins.

Only way i'd ever agree to this is if Monolith themselves did it, and at that point you'd have bigger problems to worry about. Square-Enix doing a remake would fuck everything.

Alright guys, I have never played this game before, but I'm know very well a lot of jrpgs. I've played all games from the DQ and FF series. So my question is, is this game worth my time? How good is it? Thanks

Ironically Xenogears is the one game where adding giant robots makes it worse, as Gear combat is the worst and replaces the infinitely more fun on foot battles.

It's a really mediocre linear jrpg with a cool story that has about 20 hours of exposition before it gets off the ground and then the devs run out of money by disk 2 and it turns into a VN with periodic boss battles.

Xenogears is perfect just the way it is, flaws and all. I'd rather they continue working on the new perfect works through blade than touch Gears, especially not while fucking Square still owns it.

>remake Xenogears
honestly not a bad idea, if they basically made an HD remaster with a fully realized 2nd disc
>by Square Enix
don't use the monkey paw on this.

>I don't want a remake. I just wish square didn't siphon all the money from this halfway in to make the dumpster fire that is FF8.
This shit got debunked years ago. No money was taken away from the project. It ran into scheduling issues and its scope got out of hand.

>This shit needs a remake, not FF7.
>remake by modern SE
FF7 bit the bullet for XG, if anything

this is true for the entire xeno series

XS3 had good mech combat

it's the best of the mech combat systems but still worse than ground

play it with a guide so you don't miss anything

Yeah, I agree. I just hope the X sequel do mechs justice

>interesting combat system at first until you realize the only viable attack input is the strongest one you have
>a lot of tropey plot points, a lot of them are mecha anime ones
>sometimes a little predictable and dragged out conversations
>gear combat is cool at first but boring later
>a lot of long-winded, spectacle-focused attack animations

the good stuff:
>interesting characters for the most part, especially Fei and Elly
>religious, philosophical plot
>mature story, even if a lot of it is rushed in disc2
>full 3d environments
>dungeons aren't too linear, a lot of hallways and dead-ends with loot and sometimes hidden items

I'm playing it right now and I really enjoyed it for the first 30 hours but now I just want it to end.

Xenoblade X says otherwise

xenoblade x is the biggest indication of shit mech combat, skell combat in X is the worst combat in the entire xeno series

>just choose attack of a menu in a real time system

>Ironically Xenogears is the one game where adding giant robots makes it worse
>Xenoblade X is about exploration
>giant robots makes it better
lol

the mechs hurt exploration in X too, it's more fun to explore Mira on foot than with the skells which skip and jump over much of the crafted terrain

Yeah, mechs take away the sense of wonder.

don't the mechs in that game get overpowered by the characters anyways? I've read by the time you can afford to upgrade them, it's not worth bothering anymore.

Dude, even on-foot combat sucked. Xenogears was mediocre in a lot of ways, not to mention the shit platforming outside of battles. It's wasted potential.

Enemies scale with mechs, so by the time you do get them, you better damn well use them. Difficulty from start to finish is too easy, but you should definitely have them if you don't want to get your shit kicked it when you get to places like Cauldros.

yes, you can break X apart

Can a game get by on the merits of solely its soundtrack? Xenogears dares to try.

Xenogears also had great thematic ambition, lore and art direction.
