If you're dumb enough to believe a few sources, whose intent is your get your attention/money and not your education, without checking your own facts, then that's more of a you-problem. Most of the criticisms against developers and journalists cry out for more work on their side that conflict with their main goal (attention or money) in order to be more fair to an uneducated reader.

No, that's the point of an investigative journalist, which is not nearly as thrilling or heroic as movies make it seem. It's also not for everyone, and very few journalists possess the gumption for it. The point of most journalists is to get their paycheck and feed themselves and their family. This is done by either giving the people something they want to read, or finding some way to get people to read what they wrote. Rarely is the cold truth any of those things.

That doesn't mean what they write is entirely false, and complete falsehoods like No Man's Sky infamous multiplayer claim are examples of legitimate criticisms against journalists and developers. However, expecting to be spoon-fed every flaw or a refusal to inject hot-button politics in an attempt to gather attention is simply a justification to be spoon-fed everything when there exist ways to fact-check and form your own opinions.
