I played Chivalry up until nearly every server banned feinting. Dragging is abused to fucking hell and back and Mordhau was supposed to tackle dead angles, spinning and dragging. It tackled approximately one of these three issues.

You abuse the former for it to be nigh impossible to react to and the latter for deceiving reach. This is what made spinning in Chivalry where you would face away from the opponent, look directly up and swing so fucking lethal because the attack would instantly connect for full damage.

As someone who played a lot of archer in Chivalry, it's not.
There are just more archers.

aiming feels better in this game, but it's not easier at all. chiv archery was consistent as fuck and too easy.

Now, you see this might work at lower levels and against people that aren't quite there yet, but this is actually a really bad habit. As of now, stab animations are dogshit, and it's nearly impossible to read stab feints if they are done well enough. So the band-aid for this issue are stab chambers, however chambers drain more stamina than parries. So if someone is only stabbing, and their target is only chambering, they've lost by the time they've chambered the first attack because they've already blown more stamina than the hopefully-aware other player ever would. I am an alpha player, and the meta has formed around really difficult to read accel/decel feints/morphs, but those are unreliable long-term because they are still readable!
Stabs are still readable if you memorize their timings, but they are significantly easier to perform than these strike attacks. If you ONLY stab, and you ALWAYS parry chambers, you'll win every fight like that. Better players will morph stab chambers, but you can read them if you wait for the attack ground before pressing mouse 2. Once you've scared players enough with consistent disarms, they start to parry again--and if they try to parry you're stabs that's when you start feinting them! I've yet to hear any refutation to this.

It's just an accuracy thing, so people don't just pull an arrow back and sit there.

First bind overhead to mousewheel down. Then against noobs you want to scroll up then scroll down when dragging your mouse down. Against people that are hot-shit you want to scroll up, scroll down, press Q, then scroll down again.
Against an actual decent player you want to focus on reading their attacks, stay calm, and wait for them to have their attack confirmed by the audio-cue grunt that they do before dealing damage. Also, be careful not to do pointless chambers/misses, because they do nothing but drain stamina.
For training, it would be beneficial to just do simple attacks while focusing more on reading opponents, so before you start to style on people you've got a good defense foundation built.

Let me just say that the gold may be bugged, but's still being recorded somehow. There are people that have gotten their levels and gold all at once, and I'm one of them. Just be patient, I guess? If you look at the scoreboards you'll see there's people that are not level 1.

Some weapons are cancer (rapier) which will do that, but you can hit them first if you turn into them with your mouse and you morph right away. Or just assume that you'll never hit anything first and block instinctively. That was one of the biggest learning bumps for me. YOU WILL NEVER HIT FIRST.

Its essentially random at this point.
I had one round that gave me nothing when it said I should get 360 xp, ended up quitting and coming back a bit later and my level had gone up and I had gotten the gold I was owed.
After that, had two rounds that gave me XP and gold, but the other 4 gave me nothing (as in it says zero xp awarded at the end of the round).

Its the best game that no one ever asked for. The community is what made Chiv work for me.

Parry and strike different angles, or the same angle and prepare for them to chamber morph you. Rapier brainlets can only do one thing 99% of the time, and their toothpick weapon has terrible stamina retention so you'll be knocking it away from them fairly quickly if you can hold your ground.
And it's not faster than a rapier thrust, as long as they make a little attempt to accel, and if they are actually riposting and not just swinging when they have a chance AFTER the parry, they'll have the uninterruptable riposte status, which'll make you eat their attack as they eat yours.

By the time you have enough gold to get a billhook and a single piece of medium armor, the waves are coming in as 40-60 with every enemy having better gear than you. Need to have a full server with people ungodly good at the game to get passed wave 8

The battle axe is one of the best weapons in the game. It's fast, 2 shots plate with strikes, and a practically instant stab for interrupting the enemy and for gambling.

It's just the beginning of chivalry all over again. I remember the dagger in that to be upbeatable until I learnt how to just calm down and parry. The good part of heavy weapons (drags) remain unused by lowerskilled players so the good part of fast weapons (gambles) will be able to shine since they take way less skill to use.

The parry box is pretty small, even for shields, so attacking from a higher angle (i.e., a jump stab) lets you land easy hits against shields or non shield users because they're noobs and don't know they need to look slightly up when blocking.
