It's not even comparable, the pokemon designs had actual effort put into every single one, the plot being based on one of the few story driven spinoffs instead of a mainline adventure makes the most sense for introducing people into this world while keeping pokemon fans happy, and every trailer so far has actually looked promising.
People were initially mixed on the designs for the live action mons and some still are but no one had problems with the plot, jokes, or world that was shown in the trailers, every complaint was visual and faded quickly.
Everything about this trailer from music choice, to jokes, to acting, to visual effects is an absolute fucking trainwreck in every sense of the word. They couldn't even get their one shitty cgi main lead to look decent or anywhere close to it's original design.
