You get fifteen points to allot towards various armor pieces and perks. The stronger armors cost more points than lighter ones. Each perk has a different cost depending on usefulness, like Dodge being 4 pts because of being the most powerful skill.

it's pretty viable, it's nowhere near as cheesy as it was in chivalry (nothing is, really) but it's still pretty good, you have a few weapons of choice (bows and crossbows of different types) and since you decide the level of armor and mobility you have you can adjust to different kinds of archery, like moving from place to place or becoming a heavy armor turret and fucking over other archers

It deals 15 at lowest, averages 30 on regular shots, but depending on the enemies headgear it can just oneshot them. I guess it depends on how accurate you are and how consistently you can deliver shots. You also need to master using a cleaver as youre only means of defense, its only saving grace being you can throw it. At the end of the day, youre gonna be having more fun than the enemies by virtue of being an archer

leaving aside the other issues with chiv, one of my issues with it was that it ditched the "mundane fantasy" approach of Mount and Blade to go for shit like highly ornate anime dracula swords, and castles on the side of a volcano in a temperate region

That isn't necessarily true. I saw a dev in the discord say that they can't really track what people are gaining, and that they're basically going to give everyone affected a flat bonus instead because they can't track it.
The gold/exp thing is two separate bugs according to the community rep. My guess is that one bug makes people get their gold/exp delayed, and another bug makes people not get it at all.
