Always been right for me. Terraria always looked like a simplier kiddy version.

why choose, when you can just pick the first one and go left & right

it's like russian roulette but with 6 bullets

Comparing Terraria and Minecraft, what a joke.

I still cringe at some of the graphics.
fun to adventure in though. less fun to build, 2d building will just never be as entertaining

Terraria is actually playable without mods. Minecraft you need to install hundreds of mods before you get anything even remotely interesting or fun.

Left: actual gameplay, better vanilla, good-looking buildings
Right: better mods, better multiplayer, functional buildings
Say, if you want to play a game or decorate fashionable buildings, play Terraria. If you want to build a factory or a farm - Minecraft is your answer.

Terraria feels more like a metroidvania with building mechanics, while Mein Kampf is more virtual legos and red stone autism.

>Left: good-looking buildings
>Right: functional buildings
yeah... no.

Attached: minecraft.webm (960x960, 1.1M)

Left. Right is fun but can get very boring and barfrock edition fucking sucks (especially since you can't pause). Terraria has much more to do and is more versitile and cheaper. Both have their weaknesses and strenghts but I like Terraria more. Does not mean minecraft is not fun for me at all

Maybe if Terraria didn't look like cheap garbage I could consider it.

Left by a landslide.

Soul. Soulless.

that's not counting mods.

Do people make these by hand or is there some kind of program that generates these things?

Both obviously.

by hand, but there's quite a few tools (mods) that builders can get to help speed up the process

it amazes me how this post isn't bait

Left but hytale might be something that might rival it eventually. Also this. Minecraft is fucking nothing in comparison and is only better if you want to build shit and don't care about survival mode.

Minecraft really needs new underground biomes, the same caves over and over gets old after a while

Oh boy

Right, easy. Not counting mods makes it a bit more even but minecraft would still win. Terraria is fun and has more gameplay to it than minecraft but it doesn't have the same kind of charm.

Actual fucking retard. NPCs constantly give you advice and the Guide can literally show you what you can craft.

*fills the chests with junk*
nothing personnel real life friend

Right.
Terraria is fun early game, but goes off the wall quickly with the op movement mechanics, the combat isn't, just a spammy mess of colors.
Building loses a lot of the meaning when you just fly over everything and because it's 2d, so in mp people generally just build there boxes, and then create pixelart in singleplayer to put up nice screenshots, but you don't really play in those pretty castles, unlike in minecraft you play and live in them.

If I were to play with Yea Forums for an evening I'd go terraria, if I were to play with Yea Forums for a week or months then it's minecraft.

Attached: terrariacraft.png (257x118, 27K)

left hands down. Minecraft is neat, but the "creative building" that everyone praises it for is too limited for me and there's not too much else going on. I'd rather take a 2d version of that with actual progression.

>mediocre exploration
42 biomes

but realistacally they don't really differ and there's nothing to find. The thing that Minecraft really lacks is any kind of gameplay progression (which is fine, that's how it was intended and works)

It’s like 66 actually
The snow biomes
The ocean biomes
The desert biomes
the mountain biomes
The jungle biomes
The grasslands biomes
The forest biomes
And the mushroom biomes type
The nether and the end
But each difference is actually a thing
minecraft.gamepedia.com/Biome

It much different than the 10 enemies max near you for Terraria

Its hard to choose, they accomplish different things and you can enjoy both. Terraria has better combat, artstyle, and superior exploration. However, the building mechanics are kind of a chore to use, even with the proper accessories and a lot of experience. Rewarding but tedious.

In minecraft the building is so much smoother and has a lot more potential, but it comes at the cost of everything else in the game.

80% of the biomes are just different grass color

You're the dumbest nigger possible if you think either of these games can even be compared anymore.

both games are boring as shit

left is one of the best games ever made
right is dogshit

is it weird that playing terraria sort of makes me feel like i have two arms? i know people usually play it because of the building/surviving/etc but i love playing terraria because it makes me feel like i have two arms, for example one of my arms is controlling the character and the other one is in the game but it's also mine. i don't get this with ANY other sidescrolling game except for metroid, which is weird because samus is an amputee.

every time i bring it up with someone nobody has any clue what the fuck i'm saying, but it's just how i feel. anyways yeah sorry OP just wanted to rant

i love this pasta

Something about Terraria's building has always seemed a missed opportunity to me, and I think it comes down to the movement. With the 2x3 player character, just moving with them and designing stuff for them feels too limiting and puts a damper on the game's possibilities. There was a flash game I used to play where you were 1x1 instead, and I loved it because you felt free to explore anywhere and make anything, but Terraria doesn't have that feeling which reduces it a bit. I understand this is because it would conflict with the metroidvania elements, but it's why I can't play it as a crafting game anymore.

this is pasta

AHEM

Calamity

Left has gameplay and shit to do, right is an unfinished product.

Terraria also doesn't have fucking hunger.

left by a looong shot. Its an actual game and not glorified virtual lego without an instruction book

I love both, but left is my favourite.

So what are the essential MC mods to not make it boring as fuck? But i dont mean mod/modpacks that turn the game into a retarded garbage RPG fanfic shit but just sort of like new ores, new items, new mechanics, new mobs, shit like that

Attached: 1547750266387.jpg (500x280, 38K)

I just remember getting raped by king slime because I thought he couldn't go into houses and I accidnetally pulled him between my bed and the door...

Gonna have to be the right. Terraria is a steep climb for progress. Minecraft is a lot quicker. Also I find the exploration more satisfying.

I get a weird autistic joy out of sorting my Terraria inventory and having an underground cellar with dozens of chest for different kinds of items

Terraria for playing with friends, challenge, and an exponentially better gameplay progression
Minecraft for atmosphere, immersion, creativity, and music.
Overall I vastly prefer Minecraft because I found the CTM genre to be a pretty ideal fusion of what I liked about both games. Handmade maps with custom enemies/abilities/gear progression in a full 3D, destructible environment with a clear objective was everything I wanted out of those sorts of games.

Attached: Arcane Rivalry2.png (1920x1080, 2.29M)

quark, chisel, backpacks, journeymap, some sort of gravestone mod, tinkers construct, worldgen mods (biomes o plenty, rtg, traverse, etc)

anything past that is getting into big mod territory that adds a shit ton of content

Is that Ray Tracing mod for MC playable if i have a gtx 1080?

Attached: 367373467.jpg (477x477, 41K)

bothhhhh but if i had to choose minecraft would be it, terraria is too complicated

getting halfway through Calamity made me hate Terraria.
The loop just became to blatant and stopped being enjoyable.

at 720p30fps. No joke, watch the digitalfoundry video on it

Well to be fair that second guy had a 1070...

Why would you even play it when Thorium exists?

God I want a 3D Terraria so bad. Make what I do in game mean something. Make the cave that I wandered into different from the other thousands. Most minecraft mods seem to focus on automation and eternity crafting rather than adventure, base building and progression.

>Most minecraft mods seem to focus on automation and eternity crafting rather than adventure, base building and progression.
There is a ton of ones adding mobs and shit tho

my friend was excited to try it. I didn't really bother looking up alternative because I was honestly tired of the game after beating the optional guys after Moon Lord

>Terraria always looked like a simplier kiddy version
Jesus chirst, Craftfags are in new whole level of delusion. No wonder reddit is making memes out of it now

none of them really turn it into anything like terraria

maybe hytale will scratch your itch

i like both a lot but minecraft could use a lot of improvement with progression and weapons and enemy mob types
more stuff similar to crossbows and tridents and more bosses would be nice
terraria wins

>Terraria crafting better than Minecraft crafting
I wasn't aware it was possible to be this wrong

Have the exact same thoughts.

Terraria mods are almost entirely fucking shit. Thorium is pretty decent but everything else is trash
Meanwhile moincraft has great modding potential

minecraft also needs faster movement options
>no double jump, no faster move speed boots enchantments, have to stop every minute while running to eat, sprint has to be pressed again when you run into a block
minecraft is just so slow

>Most of the bosses are just big fucks that charge at you
>Melee gets shit mid to late
>Lol just make autistic arenas for bosses

What are the biggest and best minecraft mods?

You can fly now in survival
What more do you want?

This. Though there's longer tech trees in Terraria, the grid-based stuff in Minecraft is so much better than
>do you have X in your inventory
>are you within proximity of Y crafting station
>if so click to get Z item

Attached: 1548989237044.jpg (703x613, 60K)

Terraria is literally better than Minecraft at EVERYTHING. The one, and only, thing Minecraft has over Terraria is a 3rd dimension. Terraria even does building better without said 3rd dimension.

With fireworks it can be used anywhere.

>He doesn't use fireworks to get himself off the ground
You don't deserve those wings

Never happened to me. I always play with 4+ people, and we all have designated Ore/Alchemy/Building chests, and then personal chests in our own houses.

Even if you're leaving mods out of it (which is more in Minecraft's favor), MC has much stronger music, atmosphere, and circuitry mechanics.

Have both and like Minecraft better

this is neat and all but in an actual game of terraria you're never going to spend that much time here
also with each npc design becomes totally utilitarian
I feel that minecraft wins in the actual creative department, it's more fun to build.

>tfw lost minecraft account after MS bought Mojang

>MC has stronger music
No. MC's music sucks, except for the old nostalgia tracks. Terraria tracks are still good.
>Atmosphere
As in immersion? Sure, 3D games are more immersive, but Terraria's atmosphere is better.
>Circuitry mechanics
Doesn't matter to 99% of people, and Terraria's is still more functional because you have things like teleporters and actuators.

they are literally exactly the same except minecraft is 3D

Dragon quest builders is better game
cant wait for DQB2

how are they the same?

Terraria for me. I enjoyed exploring in both games but it does get old after a while in minecraft

yeah you actually build a neat little town with your friends where you hole up, your supplies run out, your equipment break so you have stuff to maintain.
In terraria a house blocks the ground since it's 2d and you can see the inside of it already, you don't, peolpe fly right over it and shoot their anime powers around cluttering the screen.

>all these seething replies

>MC music sucks
Out
I don't know where you're from but get out and stay out

Terraria has far more satisfying character progression but the part I like about Minecraft is base-building, and Feed the Beast autism. I have more respect for Terraria because it functions better as an actual game, and there are games such as Factorio that do what I like about Minecraft but actually have focus and make that their central aspect (although I haven't played any of them so I don't know how they compare).

I've been following MC since Notch posted on Yea Forums, underage faggot. My first time playing was the Seecret Fridey Update that added railways. Terraria has better music.

>search my username on namemc
>it's there, hasn't been taken over by a third worlder

>link to reactivate account is dead
AHHHHHHH

Advent of Ascension a terraria like mod for minecraft

Not him but you have severely shit taste. Terrarias music is obnoxious as fuck at best, and grating at worst.

That's essentially more limiting. It would be like scaling all the blocks up.

Never played Minecraft. Did I miss out?
Terraria was sweet.

Pirate and play minecraft. Get some texture pack you like. It's alright.

Minecraft is best played with a small group of friends on a private server, no mod or modded doesn't matter.
Or, on a large wild server where there are some mods that let you protect yourself and your buildings, so everything isn't easily torn down and you can explore cities that are only half ruined.

The first time is always the best. There's a decent case to be made that earlier versions had a certain charm to their jank, but that's mostly been preserved. I'd give it a vanilla run if you've legit never touched it.
Save your world when you're done; it's special.

Both.
They're two different games.
Terraria focuses on adventure and retro arcade platforming, while Minecraft focuses more on survival and creativity.

Instead I would like a game that combines both games, I want minecraft first person camera and of course the three-dimensional building with terraria items, bossfights and NPC structure.

Terraria by far.

>Playing it again with a load of mods
>Build a quick house for NPCs that I planned on making look better later
>Later realize there's a fuck load of NPCs, way too many to make all good housing for
>Build a disgusting commie block on top of the house them all

Later I might just move near the ocean and build a cozy beach house with for all the useful NPCs to live in and slap a teleporter between the 2 locations. Wish I could just boot out useless NPCs. Like the Tavern Keep, I don't need this cunt taking up a fucking room for an event I'll never bother with.

>Later I might just move near the ocean and build a cozy beach house with for all the useful NPCs to live in
you'll probably be tired of the game by that point.

this

>The first time is always the best. There's a decent case to be made that earlier versions had a certain charm to their jank
The reason the first time was the best for me, is because I wasn't aware of a feature, the coordinates hud you could just toggle on/off at will.
Actually learning to recognize my surrounding and spotting landmarks was amazing.
It wasn't until my 3rd minecraft server I played on where I learned of it. I don't think it was added and was in there from the start, but not sure, no one else seemed to be aware of it either until then, so people got hopelessly lost and tried to follow people directions and clue themselves in from screenshots.

Fairly early into world2 a guy got lost, and he found this neat overworld lavafall.
I tried following his directions, but fuck I couldn't find him. Weeks later, maybe a month later I discover the lavafall on the other side of the mountain where my house is, opposite of the directions he gave me but he got turned around somewhere down the line and didn't keep track of where north/west was etc.

I choose option C

Left for fun, intense gameplay, right for soothing creativity.
Left is a game, right is a sandbox.

This. I've always found Terraria's combat to be really braindead and I never really liked being able to fly so early in the game. Everything just kinda feels too overpowered. Moreover, Minecraft's redstone system is far more advanced than Terraria's wire stuff, meaning that, in Minecraft, you are actually able to build things called machines and automate a lot, even in vanilla.

both now kys

Hahahaha

For me it's left for concept and right for gameplay and replayability. For some reason I just got bored of terraria but it wasn't the case with minecraft. I can't explain why but I just can't get to enjoy terraria as much as I did 2-3 years ago.

Left + right = Hytale

Left I've put 1215 hours into.
Right I haven't played since they introduced a hunger mechanic to the game.

Terraria has actual progression. Once you hit diamond in Minecraft the game is basically over. You've experienced everything you possibly can.

I'm abstaining from these types of games till Hytale comes out, looks like its gonna blow both of these away.

I would always try to build massive lighthouses to guide my way, didjtbalways work but when you found a forgotten base lighting up the night it was a special feeling

Lmao wtf am I reading

the real question is vanilla terraria server when?

That's basically what I did, make a huge commie flat for the start of the game then slowly build proper housing.
