Redpill me on KH2's combat. All I see from is Square when the enemy is attacking, X when they aren't. In KH3 there's also this aiming mechanic I think. This can't be all there is to it right?

That's a very simplified way of looking at it, but not terribly inaccurate either. You could say the same about MGR or Stinger'ing enemies to death in DMC, but KH2 has a lot more depth to it than that; you can customize combos a fair amount, and there are forms you can drop in and out of with different movesets. It's very very fun from a combat standpoint, imo.

Did you just stsry playing video games a few years ago or something?

An indie developer needs to get their hands on the GQ formula and make a better game without all the shit bits, like the random battles. But also keep it a GB game with the focus on vertical platforming and the zoomed in claustrophobia. Like what Aggelos did with the Wounder Boy formula. Just make another one...but good.

What are the meta decks in Arc V Tag Force? I've always wanted to play that game but it's Japan only. Did you import it and play it in Japanese?

I'm a huge fan of WC2011 and if it had the TCG exclusive X-Saber monsters and a few of the early XYZ monsters it'd be perfect. I've always wondered of Arc V was closer to my ideal format in game form.

>the only version of dutforce i played was laggy as fuck

You may not like it, but this is what peak Asian Gorl looks like.

Well that's the thing, when you watch DMC footage, nobody is stinger spamming because the game gives you many meaningful abilities to use and a quick access to all of them. Launchers, gap closers, time/hold/pause/mash/back-to-forward commands, etc. Form Changes, Keyblade Transformations and even Magic (outside of Heal) change the animations sure, but is do their sole utility just sneak in extra damage? Similar to DMC3's Elemental Bonuses and how juggling requires you to really know the stun values and stuff?

Not playing civ 4 is pretty weird, it was so popular it won a grammy. I would go so far as to say that if you haven't played civ 4 you aren't genuinely interested in video games.

>runescape is shit
This. It's a fucking addictive time sink but if I could take all those I spent on my second account and put them into playing other games I would.

I'm not into strategy games. The only ones I played were the early Age of Empires games when I first got a PC.

Oh and the early warcraft games.

Some people just aren't into certain kinds of games, so naturally even if those games are important to gaming as a whole, they'd be a low priority on that person's list of games to check out.

Those are RTSs, they are not even remotely similar to 4x.

Strategy games are strategy games. I have a friend who doesn't like racing games, regardless of what type of racing games they are.

>not even remotely similar to 4x.
I feel like this is a stretch.

I've seen Civ 4 on sale for like a dollar and even today it takes like 2 seconds to torrent. Its so hugely popular and successful its like saying you've never played Monopoly but are interested in board games. Just doesn't make any damn sense to not have played it at some point unless your entire scope of vidya is little kid games on consoles, in which you aren't really interested in video games.

Attached: 1545699867193.jpg (638x633, 32K)

Its not, nothing you've learned from playing a RTS will translate into being good at 4x and vice versa.

>Super Paper Mario

Racing games are action games. There is no racing genre. What kind of pathetic retard doesn't play a game because it doesn't follow an extremely specific sub-set of game design rules? And for that matter what even is a racing game? Is this comparable to say, idk Forza or some other normalfag shit?

Sounds a lot like what the Metroid 2 fags have wanted.
There's a translation patch for it and I play it on a vita. The dialogue itself can be memey, but the cards themselves are all legit. idk what the hard meta is dude, i'm a shitter who tries to avoid that understanding or just haven't reached that cap yet. The xyz summoning was the only worthwhile summoning mechanic added since the beginning I think, in that it only supplements already built decks instead of around them.

The older you get the more you know whether something has a chance of appealing to you or not based on previous experiences, even if that something is not exactly like or close to what you experienced before.
Genres are just a broad way of referring to a loose set of recognizable characteristics and surely they aren't the best way to describe your preferences if you are seeking precision since things that are apparently under the same ''genre'' can differ greatly, like you showed with the racing game (or whatever you wanna call), but thing is, even if this game you showed differs greatly from Forza, someone who dislikes Forza has a higher chance of disliking this game than the contrary. Surely, he could find it the best game of all time despite disliking other racing games, but there's more chances of this not happening than happening.

It's totally fine to avoid a game with a style that seems close to things you disliked in the past. This doesn't mean you won't ever play it. It just mean it's low on your priority list.

I'd say that's a racing game of sorts. The speed of it doesn't look too different from F-Zero
>What kind of pathetic retard doesn't play a game because it doesn't follow an extremely specific sub-set of game design rules?
Who ever said anything about that? I said that somebody who didn't like strategy games probably won't put Civ 4 on high priority, not that they wouldn't give it a go.

Attached: of all time.jpg (3264x3004, 3.91M)

>Do the N64 Zelda games emulate well?
Unfortunately I don't know, I've never had a reason to try. I've not heard any bad things about the emulation, so I assume they're fine. The remakes are available on 3DS if you have one of those. The MM remake is definitely worse in a few areas, but it still captures the main appeal of the game.

>Just picked up the Zero Escape trilogy today
Considering your taste I think you're gonna have a blast with the 1 and 2 game.
Just be sure to lower your expectations for the third. It's a absolute nosedive in quality from the first games.

>The older you get the more you know whether something has a chance of appealing to you or not based on previous experiences
I am pretty old, have played thousands of games, and what I have learned is that genres do not matter at all.
>It's totally fine to avoid a game with a style that seems close to things you disliked in the past.
But its not close at all. He is comparing Civ 4 to Warcraft.
>probably won't put Civ 4 on high priority
Its been out for nearly a decade and half.

This is all cope. You are just playing video games because you have nothing else to fill your time. You don't really like them. You get frustrated when a video game requires effort so you avoid them. If you actually liked video games, why wouldn't you want to put effort into them? Look at most of the pictures in these threads. Its almost entirely super low effort flashy games, the vidya equivalent of capeshit.

>and what I have learned is that genres do not matter at all.
I just explained how they matter and how they don't. They are a fair superficial indicative but not ideal if you are seeking a more precise language.

>But its not close at all. He is comparing Civ 4 to Warcraft.
I didn't compare Civ 4 to warcraft. I said i'm not a fan of strategy games and used Age of Empires then later warcraft as reference. Age of Empires is (among many things) about constructing a civilization and building a army with the limited resources you have. Civ 4 is (among many things) about constructing a civilization from limited resources. The way in which both games do that differs greatly but they have some of the same basic axioms, such as what I already described, the way in which you observe the game (vision from the top managing your resources to build things in a efficient way; conquering other civilizations etc).

That's exactly what I meant with the race comparison. Even if that game differs from Forza greatly someone who dislikes Forza has more chance of disliking than liking that game. It's simple as that.

>This is all cope
You are the one trying to cope to justify the fact your favorite game might not be that appealing to someone else. I am willing to put effort and endure frustration for things which I believe have a higher chance of appealing or being productive to me. I won't put time and effort into something I don't think appeals to me in the first place and neither should anyone.

Why would I play video games? That's lame as fuck.
