Only slightly related but the MGS1 theme always deceived me because it was too joyful for a game about the horrors of war and a fucking terrorist game.

Shit sounded like Pokemon so much that I flipped the shit in my pants when I booted up my copy of HeartGold and started to hear the instruments scrambling themselves to form the this theme in my head.

Never seen a game like that. Oddworld was pretty much the opposite though.

wow, is this a thread on Yea Forums, the board on Yea Forums for discussing video games? But that would be impossible. This thread's OP picture is not directly from a video game. I cannot believe this. This thread obviously does not belong on Yea Forums - Video Games. I'm sorry, Anonymous poster, I'm going to have to contact the admins for this board and have your thread removes. Think about that next time you decide to post an off topic picture on my board :^)

There's boatloads of freeware indie games made in RPG maker that do this and somehow, there's a fanbase for it. Typically a female character wandering around a scary version of her town ending with their death or finding out they're dead or something else straight out of high school writing.

"JRPG cliches bonanza let's go to an adventure to fight the evil kingdom!"
Then your best friend join said kingdom and becomes King and starts being just as terrible as the evil big bad dude that sat on it before.
THen they murder your cute sister.
Then it's an all out war with people dying left and right.

ahh yes, the indie game gimmick hook

Isn't the right star ocean

I'm not quite sure if that would qualify as a cute game to start with, but fair enough I guess.
