I remember when complaining about the grind being to unreal in MMO's people here on Yea Forums would just tell you to quit the game or git gud
Pretty weird seeing the tides turn, nu-Yea Forums never ceases to amaze me

Finally an MMO thread. Any good mmos out there? I've tried GW2, but the only interesting thing on it was World vs World, and I joined a server that had the shittiest army. Since I've lost my account, I didn't want to try again, but that was long before it went f2p or something.

I think they have a nice charm to them.

WoW Classic will be alright when it's out, but there honestly aren't any good MMOs out there.

When I playd Skyforge many years ago, it was an intersting game, but the content was a boring grindfest. Not sure how it holds up today.

grind is basically associated with lootboxes and microtransactions now, and rightfully so.

it literally is though. different people like different things. there are a lot of people who come here and I'm sure that some of them like grindy games, just perhaps those people are not as vocal/are in the minority now.

Tastes evolve. Grinding was never good. Yes it was a casual filter, but nowadays there are better casual filters that don't involve nolifeing for 10 hours a day.

It wasn't usually the grind that was fondly remembered but more so the socialization aspects of an MMO. The heavy grinding back then in retrospect was incredibly shitty, and does not fare well nowadays.
The MMO most infamous for this was Maplestory.
