Real issues is performance (loading times and low fps) and bugs but the bugs have been nonexistent since the new update.

I was pretty ambivalent to the game during the first few hours, but I'm really starting to dig it. It's not super polished and it's flaws are grating but the fact remains that I'm having fun with it. Deacon has enough moral ambiguity to differentiate him from the standard goody-twoshoes protaganist, gunplay is slow but tense where every shot will count and the bike is fun to ride and customise. I accept the game won't be for everyone, especially if you've gotten tired of zombies, open world games or both but I still stand by that the game is a 7/10 at worst. Plus hordes are actually a challenge, which is a nice change of pace from Sony movie games always being too easy

Your charscter and his friend are drifters its not about base management its about makimg allies with other camps, upgrading and chsnging your bike and clearing out NERO camps (gives a boost to HP, Stanina or Focus). Also about clearijg out hordes/camps from surronding ally camps so you can get your trust up and buy better upgrades and weapons.

It's just unreal engine. Models are chunky and textures are low res. The only thing that stands out is the focus they put in road bump mapping / tesselation and ambient occlusion on grass and other small vegetation, and it doesn't even look good, just very out of place.

If you're a big fan of zombies/post-apocalypse stuff like TLOU, Fallout, etc., this is a 9/10. If you like the urban exploration thing with nature overtaking civilization, this is great. It gave me a better innawoods sim than RDR2 did.

The game has very rough graphical edges, but as a total package it looks very good. You have to play it to see it. You also have to keep in mind that it's a giant open world game. It looks better than most.

The story in RDR2 has higher production values. It's no better than Days Gone from a purely narrative standpoint. It's just presented in a much jankier fashion. Literally who gives a fuck? It serves its purpose. And the GAME part of the thing is 1000x better than RDR2. It is a better video game than RDR2. It just has lower production value in some areas that would fool shallow retards into thinking it's a worse game. Even the game design issues that Days Gone has are nothing compared to RDR2. The only thing RDR2 has is slightly prettier graphics/animations (though in some ways Days Gone looks better). Days Gone has a surprisingly believable world, too. It doesn't feel bland and lifeless.

It definitely nails the "post-apocalypse thing." Whatever that is. Rolling into a derelict town looking for scrap. Getting into what feels like tribal warfare with crazy people that ride in on motorcycles as you snake your way through a bunch of dead cars. It just nails that lost civilization returning to barbarism thing, plus the zombie thing, to a T.

The devs definitely do deserve criticism, I never said they didn't. But they're practically a brand new developer. They made some PS1 games and some spinoff handhelds. I can forgive a little bit of jank here and there if the game underneath is solid, which this absolutely is. The stuff you do in the game is fun. It's just rough around the edges. It gives it charm, honestly. Same thing with Witcher 3. That game was janky as hell, which showed how thin the team was stretched to pull that off. You're just saying it's worse than RDR2 without even playing it. I've played both, I was a fan of Rockstar/Red Dead forever, and this game is better than RDR2. Pretty graphics/animations don't fool me into liking a mediocre snorefest, and a little jank isn't enough to scare me away from something as kino as Days Gone.

The ONLY thing I care about before I buy this game is how open the world is at the beginning. Can I go everywhere in the map once I get out of the first mission or not? I need to know, I'm the kind of player that explores that world map and does all the side missions FIRST and do the main missions last. If I'm restricted to a small space I'm not buying it until it's $20, if it's completely open from the word 'go'... well, I'm bought worse games for $60.

It is just incredibly fucking janky to play and a lot of aspects come off as polished the wrong way. It's a high seven out of ten, maybe an eight just on how consistent it is in that seven.
Also I rarely have this feeling, but games media really does seem to have some kind of issue with it. I played through the missions that keep being brought up to shit on the writing, and while it is not a bastion of excellent writing, its not nearly what people keep trying to paint it as.

Like most games of this type nowadays, you're given large regions that unlock as you progress the story. So after the opening mission or two, you're given a big woodsy/desert area to explore, which is pretty fucking big in its own right. I could see an entire game fitting into it. I haven't gotten past this area in 12-15 hours of play, and based on my completion stats it looks like there's at least 1 or 2 other regions besides this one.

It's masculine and quasi-libertarian, or at the very least it doesn't present libertarian ideas in an unamibiguously-negative light. That's literally it. Gaming journos are all so!boi commies. They gave RDR2 a 10 because it shits on capitalism and racists.

Is this the full map and, if so, which region is unlocked at the beginning (feel free to do a crude MSpaint circle on the region and it's size if you wish)? After BOTW I REALLY enjoy going through the entire map of a game. What's stopping the player from going into the other regions early?

As someone who played both days gone and crackdown3. I can say crackdown under delivered on its promises and days gone is a buggy glitches mess with meh story

I agree with you on Days Gone. But the game overcomes those issues for me since I play it like an open world game with the story as a secondary focus.

What makes it fucking stupider is that, later on he gets paid to bring a girl back and doesn't do it because she says she'd rather not.

He doesn't even try to argue against her. He just says okay and lets her go.

I would instantly like the game a lot more if there was no melee weapon durability. But at least there's no gun durability, or God forbid hunger and thirst.
Is there a skill to boost the number of crafting supplies you can carry? At least we can repair melee weapons.

The melee durability is good. It prevents you from abusing the melee weapons and it's not hard to find scrap. I dunno about carry capacity. I think it should stay small. That forces you to engage with the scavenging element.

I'm just getting annoyed with my machete losing 20% durability with every 2-hit kill. Cant wait for the skill that boosts durability.

Are hordes random? Was going the first mission for Hot Springs where you have to kill that crowbar gut, and was at his little compound at night taking out guards and suddenly a horde came through and killed everyone for me. Was it scripted?

I think some smaller hordes are random but there are specific hordes at particular spots around the map that stay dead.

Are there any the size of the one shown in that one gameplay trailer? Ones Ive seen so far are only like 30-50 zombies.

I think they get as big as 500. The game has good progression. They don't throw everything at you all at once.
