Super Mario Maker 2

Let's talk about new details and questions
>SMB
You can place Dry Bones underwater
>SMB3
Claw cranes
You can place Piranha Plants upside down
>SMW
Rainbows seem to be semi-plat, but what are those clouds and vines supposed to be?
You thought it was Pokey, but it's them, Goombrats
Did Nintendo change the design of tornado guys in SMW theme to just like other themes or do they different creatures?
>NSMBU
The moon looks more like a replacement of angry sun than just a part of background?

>still no SMB2/DDP art style
I know it would be tough to implement, but I am a bit disappointed by that.

Unironically so excited for this, I skipped the wiiu but loved watching people do some of the crazy levels people came up with.

>had a Wii U
>somehow still missed out on SMM1
Yea I'm fucking hyped for this. Especially with all the updates.

I'm just happy that i have now a reason to get it.

Attached: 34534534534.png (203x256, 90K)

The Moon is from Super Mario World. It gives three lives.

>Meowser
>Forest Theme in SMB
>Giant Mario with the amiibo skin color
>Meteors or whatever the fuck this is
>Icicles
Interesting

But doesn't 3-Up Moon always look yellow?

That cloud theme is certainly new. Looks funky as fuck too.

That's clearly a Red Fire Yoshi, will they have Yellow and Blue though?

mario swims in space. sorta like mario land 2

Wait where the hell did OP find this high resolution pic

I wish they added elements from the Lost Levels, like the ground tile and the poison mushroom. Also luigi with different physics would be neat, as well as wind. Oh and red pirhana plants.

The vines in SMW are from Mairo 3D World. They twist and turn. You can probably place them in clouds in this one.

NO CHARGIN CHUCKS NO BYING WITH BUCKS
NO REXES NO BUYING FOR SEXES
NO NINJI NO GAME PLAYING BINGEJI
NO DINO RHINO NO GO AND BUYO

I'm really curious just how many elements will be remade for all styles. Seeing Forest SMB among others makes me believe they are really going balls deep this time. I want to see Angry Sun in the 3D World style.

Are those Yoshi's Island Fuzzies in the SMW screenshot? And what the fuck are the things walking on the rainbows?

how could they do this to us chuckbros

JUST RELEASE THE FUCKING GAME ALREADY

they already showed wind

Where's this photo from?

God damn they added everything I wanted and more in this game, holy shit. Big contender to be game of the year for me, I loved the first one and this looks a billion times better already.

They need to remake SMW with a fucking cloud world right now. I want to trip on magic rainbows.

Attached: 36f.jpg (612x612, 90K)

Same.

Are we actually getting a proper cloud theme that's not the airship theme? That's fucking dope

>colored pipes
based

Will the costumes return?

looks like kino's back on the menu boys

pretty sure the icicles produce tornadoes from mario 3. the fact there's a monster at the bottom probably means you can kill them now

well top left has the amiibo retro mario so at least some of them might come back.
I wouldn't mind if there were less of them, but they have actual gameplay mechanics now. like obviously being able to throw projectiles for megaman, samus, etc, and maybe having a double jump for some others.

>jungle theme
>snow theme
>desert theme
>sky theme
>space theme
Neat

How does this game have so much soul?

>new super mario physicis
>now with more ice levels
I am alraedy skipping them in my head.

Whats that green thing in the NSMBU style?

it's a sequel that takes the approach of "take the first game and add twice as much stuff"
sequels like that are always soulful, and sadly increasingly rare
it's not trying to innovate, but improve

You have to go back, seriously.

Looks like the Angry Sun might turn into an Angry Moon in the space levels.

Back to what?

They better allow both for my epic kirby level bossfights.

Proof positive that you do, in fact, need to go back

i wish they'd let me use the old ugly bowser in smw
i hate the sprite they used in MM1 so much

Attached: 1531532417379.png (480x360, 127K)

what's the difference from NSMB and 3D world
is the only difference that NSMB uses sprites and 3d world actually has models? or are you able to control the camera

Wasn't Mario 2 literally in the reveal trailer
or do you mean lost levels? what does LL have that would make it a different style to SMB1

so, funny faces goombas in mario world tileset, reference to star road or new mechanics?

you dreamed that one.

>Wasn't Mario 2 literally in the reveal trailer
No it wasn't, the only showed SMB1, SMB3, SMW, NSMBU and 3D World.

Oh, weird. Thought I saw the log level or something

would be fun if he changed when you put him in the clown at least. it's not like the sprite does much once it's piloting that

Do you think we'll get these guys in every style? As boring as they may be in the main games, I think they'll lend themselves well to a maker game due to their differing movesets.

Goombrats

he needs to come home, bros

I hope I can get 15,000 Stars again like in SMM for the Wii U. :-)

CALLING ALL WEEBS
new info possibly

Attached: smm2info.jpg (1200x734, 360K)

Considering Chucks are present in 2/5 of the themes shown so far. It's a maybe. I could see them being added.

seems like recap/analysis

CO-OP CONFIRMED?

They are doing the Galaxy 2 style of sequel for this game, and imo, it's based as fuck.

Ouching spikes
Yum yum mushrooms

based eastern european bro

I really REALLY hope Nintendo finds a way you can still access, play, and download levels from SMM 1 like some sort of Legacy Mode of sort

Stick to the pond, Froggy!

>tfw no Direct to show details for this game along with other games
rip

There's no reason they wouldn't be available.

i don't see why it wouldn't be compatible, it doesn't look like the game is changing the physics or basic mechanics, only adding to it. and keeping compatibility ensures the game has thousands of levels ready to go day 1

Nigga, it's called E3 in a month. Be patient.

>tfw accidentally click on his videos

Attached: make-it-stop-face11.jpg (1050x700, 134K)

Nigga it's been 2 months since the last direct, you're telling me to wait another months and a half.

Don't you have vidya to play user

They've been releasing a lot of info without relying on directs, like the 15 minute Smash 3.0 trailer, Labo VR trailer and Mario Maker release date trailer, not to mention that they just had a big Indie game direct that announced shit like Cuphead and Cadence of Hyrule.
Beyond that, we already have Mario Maker 2 on the horizon and Fire Emblem which looks like ass coming relatively soon as well.
A direct isn't going to tell us anything new right now.

Evil coins.

Considering SMM was already Turing Complete,
what does SMM2 even want to add?

>laval lotus
fuck those nigger plants forever, no no no

As someone who never player Mario Maker and NSMBWii or U, how much stuff original to it did the first game have?
stuff like the donut bumpers, the fire clown car, the giant mario, shelmets, the heel boot, fire cheep cheeps etc.
I wonder how much inane stuff we can expect in Mario Maker 2.

Attached: super_mario_maker_dlc_ideas_part_1__items_by_waluigifan32_d9ko018-pre.jpg (951x840, 157K)

I want co-op to be in so bad
even though I have no one to play with, assuming it’ll be local only

Hoo-Ray

>goombrats
Holy fuck that's such an insignificant addition but for some reason I'm so glad they are in

I don't have a list, but it's originality came more in the form of the mutations you could put on things, and then combining it. Like putting a giant bowser with wings on a cloud. Also seeing different things adapted to other game styles when they weren't originally there.

Of course there were a lot of junk levels, but there were a lot of well-designed, creative levels too.

Goddamn I want new power-ups so bad. Just include all the suits from SMB3, the Ice Flower, the Penguin Suit, the Acorn Flower, etc.

seriously, just give us as many powerups and enemies from the games as you can cram in there, seems like such a cheap and easy way to breathe more life into the game

How was the Hammer Suit and Frog Suit not in Mario Maker

I just want the frog and penguin suit for better water controls.

why wasn't this shit in the first?

This is the best one

God the ice flower would be so cool, being able to freeze enemies into ice cubes you can then walk on or push them to destroy something else has so much level design potential.

Don't get me wrong, I love slopes, but their addition combined with the winter theme makes the penguin suit a no-brainer.

Has anyone noticed the Toadette blocks?

imgur.com/UT9FM10

Probably lower budget due to being a new concept, having to create the entire interface, being on a failing platform, etc. As others have said, it's easier to make a sequel than a new game, especially when you're just adding content to and improving the original concept instead of re-inventing the wheel.

You don't control the camera. What changes is just the style (graphics, power ups, skills, some excusive items, etc).

Yeah, what's weird is that they are crates like the ones that the koopa in the car is destroying in the first promo art we got. Maybe those crates let you transform into a different character with different properties?

I've never seen these items before. Do they have anything to do with Toad's treasure hunt game or something?

>official capacitive stylus
Nice. Does it come with the physical copy?

It's been a long time since I played treasure tracker, but I don't think so. It might have to do more with the Toadette powerup in NSMBUDX, but no one knows at this point.

pre-order bonus

I think 3D World has wooden crates that you destroy when you're huge, but colored ones are completely new.

user, that's just a regular pencil

Nah it's a stylus

NO
It's got that rubber tip for the screen

>inb4that'stheeraser

>yfw Super Mario Land is included

If there are still restrictions on what you can make for each style, it won't be worth playing.

I'm still waiting for Peach, Daisy and Rosalina to be announced.
Come on Nintendo, Peach and Rosalina were in 3D World while Daisy was in Super Mario Run, you gotta cash on that.

You know full well restrictions won't stop people from making crazy shit.
You know what they say, "limitations breed creativity"

It's just laziness on Nintendo's part to not include certain things in certain styles. Why can't I have an 8-bit Yoshi?

Would be cool, especially if Tatanga and Daisy get added and are available in the other styles too. Not going to happen, though.

Because Mario Maker wasn't supposed to be such a huge hit at first. they probably expected it to be a waiting disposable project to wait before Starfox 0 and Zelda

It's saying something when MFGG back in 2004 did better spritework.

>sequel to a beloved game where there will be millions of levels with nearly limitless possibilities, all kinds of crazy creative shit, and different types of things to base stages on
>but I can't do this cherry-picked thing
I hate how entitled the gaming community is. Don't buy it or take your non-lazy ass and make your own game that covers all of your needs.

Have to admit, will be quite disappointed if there's not more styles than just the 3DW bells and cat suits.

>make a creative title
>artificially limit the amount of creativity that is possible
>make a sequel that costs more than the original
>keep those limitations in place

limitations foster creativity

How creative it is to force me to use a different style if I want certain blocks or items to be used.
Keep slurping down that Nintendo cock.

You want Yoshi in 8-bit man, at least complain about something that actually matters.

>entitled
Don't you love when someone gets pissy over someone else thinking for themselves?

That was a single example.

You got the sky and desert theme at least

It was a shitty example

What the hell are Goombrats

Feel free to give better ones.

The weird looking Goombas from NSMBU/NSLU

Do you know what the word entitled means? You're posting on a discussion forum where everyone has an opinion. So you think to yourself whatever you want, but you took that thought and put it into words that other people can read and respond to. The gaming community at large has a problem with feeling like they deserve things.

You have the option to buy a product, not buy a product, or make your own. But a lot of gamers feel like they deserve things without understanding all the background shit that would go into them like, for example, having Yoshi in SMB1. And then to say some outrageous shit like the game isn't even worth, not even buying, but playing because of it. That's his opinion, and mine is that it's a silly one that reeks of entitlement.

Do you want the game to have less content?

>give me a better example of the thing I was trying to argue
That is not how this works, user.

Attached: 1547172948371.gif (240x266, 1.83M)

thanks for derailing the thread asshole

>The gaming community at large has a problem with feeling like they deserve things.
Well, yeah. If you put out a product with the intent for people to buy it, you should expect feedback, good and bad. In a game where you can make levels and share them, having options is crucial and can enhance the experience. Simply accpeting what you're given without question means you are complacent with not getting your dollar's worth, and not surprising this is a Nintendo product we're talking about here.

I bet you thought you were clever when you made this post.

Of course not, sure it would be nice to use everything everywhere. But I understand development, budgeting, and resource management. Not everything is always feasible. My main gripe was when you said the game wasn't worth playing for that issue alone, and then calling the developers lazy because they didn't do what you wanted, despite adding what appears to be a ton of new shit and features anyway.

>But I understand development, budgeting, and resource management.
When they're selling a full-priced $60 level editor, those shouldn't be of any concern.

>But I understand development, budgeting, and resource management.
If they allow you to have Bowser out of his car in the SMW template, how the fuck is that user wanting an 8-bit Yoshi being entitled? Just admit you're a faggot that hates when people don't slurp up Daddy Nintendo's half-assed products like a mindless drone.

If this dude doesn't make it into the game I'm gonna freak.

Attached: amazin'.png (763x523, 4K)

>In a game where you can make levels and share them, having options is crucial
And you have a ton of them. I would have liked to see more power ups. But I'm not going to say it's lazy that they aren't there and I'm going to throw away the rest of the experience because of it. The development team had priorities that are a little different from my exact needs and wants. Oh well. Unless they fuck it up somehow, if it's anything like the first one it will be great.

>I bet you thought you were clever when you made this post.
What? I laid out my opinions in a pretty straightforward way. I didn't joke or meme. But I know where I am, so I know what I'm dealing with.

Where the fuck is THIS dude?

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 100K)

>arbitrary "price is too hgh for XXXX" power trip
grow up, lol.

character change blocks

>And you have a ton of them.
And people want to see MORE. What's the point of a sequel if you don't build on what the first game established? What the fuck is wrong with you?
>The development team had priorities that are a little different from my exact needs and wants.
And your needs and wants aren't mutually exclusive to everyone else. Like the user said, they have the money and the resources, there is no excuse to not give it their all. I repeat; what's wrong with wanting more options from a sequel?

I'd rather have Charging Chucks in a single theme than not have them at all. The first Mario Maker was really limited by the whole "let's make transitions between switching styles seamless" gimmick. They definitely won't add enemies that aren't in 3D World into the game that are from previous games because that requires full modeling. So fuck it, if the angry sun is SMB3 exclusive, so be it.

Of course people want more. I want more. And I'm not getting all of what I want, but I'm getting most of it and then some. You're acting like they're just porting the first game and calling it a day. There is a ton of new content and possibilities, and of course not all of it is going to satisfy everyone. Nothing on this planet does that. If someone wants every tile/item in every style, that's their prerogative. If it's a deal breaker, don't buy it. But it doesn't mean the devs are lazy, they just were forced to or decided to go in a different direction than exactly what that person wants. Which...

>money and the resources
Money probably, but you don't know about resources. Schedules, deadlines, and time tables set by investors, and shareholders are also a thing, user. Then there are all the other factors like marketing, localization, etc... Most of these things are largely out of the hands of the creative and development teams. There is so much more to the process than just making some new sprites and popping them in. Anyone who has ever worked in project management would understand this, especially in a development environment.

Wanting more is fine
Expecting everything and throwing a tantrum when you don't get it is not
I also want more. I want an Odyssey style, a Galaxy style, an All-Stars style, gravty gimmicks, Cappy throwing, new themes, new music, tons of new enemies, amiibo costumes in 3D
But I won't cry like a bitch if I don't get those.

>and of course not all of it is going to satisfy everyone
So why call that user entitled?
>but you don't know about resources. Schedules, deadlines, and time tables set by investors, and shareholders are also a thing, user
And you do? You're really trying to justify a Mario game this deeply simply because someone called you out on your faggotry. Admit you got triggered by someone not accepting whatever they're given. Admit to that and I'll yield. Faggots like you are why sequels don't improve. You have to put the pressure on someone, somewhere.

I didn't see that user throwing a tantrum. If anything, the faggot making claims of entitlement was more of a baby by definition.

My excitement for this is growing. I didn't create any real stages for Mario Maker and only played other's. That'll change with this game.

Just a few more things I hope they add:
Multicolored Yoshis and Koopa Troopas
Chargin Chuck
Spiny
Pipe cannons
Super Mario Land 2 theme
World Maps
Coin shapes activated by a ? Block
Extra big ? Blocks like in SMB3
Tanooki, Frog and Penguin suits
Basically everything to recreate SMB3 perfectly

As for SMB2 you could make it so the enemies are swapped for the closest equivalent and ? Blocks turn into signs pointing to veggies underneath them describing the power-up. Coins are random veggies, mushrooms are mushrooms (only in minus world), flowers are minus world potions, and so on. The bridge in the castle levels are replaced with a chamber for fighting bosses. Bowser Jr. becomes Mouser, Boom Boom becomes Triclyde, Bowser becomes Wart, and a special block for the veggie machine.

>meowser as a new boss
very nice

They are the red koopas of goombas

if pokey doesn't make it and the sun does ill be slightly pissed.

>combination of goombrats and galoombas
>galoombrats
did this game just make a whole new enemy

>we will never be able to make a proper green hill zone

damnit

dude get that stick out of your ass, seriously, NO ONE in this thread is on your side, give it up

>Multicolored Yoshis and Koopa Troopas
already confirmed, they even have the SMW powers

>No rebuttal
Concession accepted.
Back on topic, holding out for these fuckers.

Attached: BusterBeetleSMB3.gif (31x40, 2K)

That wasn't me. I just decided it wasn't worth debating you anymore and ghost because you didn't even understand the core point of the debate and you had to resort to ad hominem to try to make your argument seem more correct because you think that actually works. But you seem hung up on it, so here is my "yield" if it makes makes you feel like you accomplished something and brings you happiness and we can indeed get back on topic.

I want these and those goombas that hide under those brick blocks in SMB3, the one that start moving when you get close

FAKE
WALLS

Attached: nsmbugallery19[1].jpg (1280x720, 844K)

Another user chiming in, your passive-aggressive response when he rightfully called you out only makes you look like a bigger faggot. I'd love to have variants of all the materials given. Why not have Yoshi in SMB?
