Long range?
the thing that sucks about origins is that it really just doesnt fucking matter what weapon you use, just use the one that has the biggest numbers
Or just use the katana with the instant heavy attack charge and ignore any kind of difficulty in the game since it breaks guard and shield.
>Katana
??
This game is weird. I can't decide if it's good or bad. It's better than okay, but not quite good. It's like for every step the game takes in terms of design, it takes half a step back at the same time. I like this formula that Origins introduced, they just need to fine tune it a lot more than what was present in Odyssey
Part of the For Honor dlc, pretty much breaks the entire game because of the instant charge.
He does throw it, it's an ability that you can upgrade to throw it 4 times in a row.
Animation looks weird though, makes him look like he's teleporting.
And introduce a far smoother parkour system.
Ah, my retarded ass thought you were talking about odyssey. My bad.
Still weird to add a katana though, sort of clashes. Then again odyssey's dlc is even worse.
This. Odyssey is like Origins but like 10x the copypastad content. If Odyssey had it's combat/gameplay taken into a world the size of Origin's it would be a far better game.
Man, I wish the next game has the same inventory thing and transmog.
how is the combat different in this one? I've seen several people say it's quite different from previous titles and that it's a step up from Arkham combat.
Katana or not, there is still instant charge weapons. What he failed to mention was how the damage is equally important to the instant charging.
If you can get past just how spongy some of the enemies can be, especially on nightmare difficulty then the game's combat is pretty good. Simple and serviceable. If you build for weapon damage or skill damage you can make the game much easier.
Brotherhood is still the only AC game with multiple weapon types where it actually feels good to use every weapon. In Odyssey there was no reason not to use Swords/daggers because they were way faster and broke shields equally with strong attacks.
Heavy weapons breaking shields with light attacks didn't matter when you were fighting more than one enemy at once and they could attack you between your animations.
It's shit tier compared top Origins. 2 button kill moves if you have high damage in your chosen skill set -- Archer/Warrior/Assassin.
Combat is a lot faster in this one, closer to a hack n' slash than older AC games. But enemies have much more health so fighting enemies higher level than you just involves you hitting them 100x and dying in 1-2 hits, especially on higher difficulties.
You can counter this if you're smart with your build though. I could one shot many mercs with assassinations and overpowers.
If your Assassin damage is over 150k you can assassinate (1shot) any enemy bar story elites. It's stupid. If you're patient, you will never have to struggle if you spec for Assassin damage.
>play garbage game
>complain
what's the point
Why even be patient when Rush Assassination and Hero strike both scale off Assassination damage. Rush is 4 people dead before you get spotted, then hero strike is the last one absolutely dead. Sprinkle in the Pirate set bonus and some crit and you're killing things 5 levels above you.
RA can lead to enemies outside or after (5) rushes, if you have the ability, to become aggro'd to you eliminating stealth opportunities.
I'm sorry, I didn't fully read your response. You are correct, though, even still, it can lead to failed stealth if you're not careful.
Good thing assassination tree has 2 skills designed around disengaging with the smoke and stealth. The smoke has a gigantic range, way more than you think. It's a free 10 second stun.
I just wish some of the bigger weapons felt better to use, been sticking with my poison dagger build just because of how fast daggers are, and that overpower ability being pure sex
> Give user a spear
> He tries to use it as a javelin
What?
I agree, though, at this point, I'm so beyond caring about this branch of Ubi that made Odyssey. I'm currently working my way through tFoA and it's just a snore fest. I miss Bayek.
>Promised more emphasis on mythical creatures fights
>Lol j/k it's just normal enemies spray-painted
There are a bit more mythical creatures, but I just enjoyed Origins so much better. It felt darker and more important to me.
Man, I wish the next game let you play as a woman instead of a 12 year old boy
spears aren't for throwing you absolute mongoloid
This. Spears were the main battle weapon of most armies back then. They were and are way more effective than swords
>set in Ancient Greece
>hoplites around every corner
>multiple dlc, updates, etc
>still no usable shield
why would I buy this game? the sand nigger in Egypt can use a fucking shield but the Greek can't? you wanna know why? its cause the game plays exactly the same and they done this to make it seem different.
>AC:O
>garbage
This game gives me the closes feeling to old WoW.
>open world
>4k looks great
>inventory
>farming
>great combat
>exploration
>comfy
I really hope they will just drop the "realistic" meme and start creating a fantasy world in the AC style with Nightelves and other non human races. This game would have so much potential if they would stop trying to simulate a real world.
The only shit is that it's in boring Greece with the same boring "human history" bullshit. But I don't think they will ever try real fantasy.
Origins was a much more delicately made game. Everything about the way it looked felt tighter and less cartoony. Odyssey is a game that skimps on fine details, but has 10× the content. That's what felt different
