Is the online in this still active? is this a good time to jump in?

I played it extensivly when it first came out, they really should've made more content prior to launch or atleast been quicker.

It IS a long grind, though. I haven't played in years, but I know they kept updating the game to make it more difficult to grind.

I've played quite a bit, mainly because I like being a cowboy.
There's really not much to do, other than a lot of PVP stuff, which isn't fun.
The story missions would be better if I didn't have to play with three other fucktards who can easily ruin it.
Can't recommend at this point.

All amass money passively, specially the Nightclub, and to refill them you just need to make a mission that takes 3 minutes at most after you buy a Buzzard or any other weaponized vehicle.

I'm pretty sure you can make more than one character.
You level heavily dictates what weapons, clothes, horses, abilities you can access.
I'd say you'd need to be at least level 50 before you have the majority of stuff you'll want. You gotta be level 70 to get the white Arabian horse, which is the best overall horse.

If you do get into it, don't bother doing missions for money. Hunting and selling is you best way of making dosh.
Problem is, if you've got a ton of pelts on the back of your horse, and you get killed, you might end up losing all the materials that you can't carry on your body (animals, larger pelts, etc)

You've got to spend money to make money. It isn't that hard if you invest in the right stuff.
That said, I wouldn't want to begin again with nothing.

You keep talking about it as if you were actually hitting rocks for hours, heists give you hundreds of thousands sometimes a million or two, races give you 60k on double money( if you are good and finish first). Freeroam missions are varied and open ended, yes, you need to play the game to reach endgame content, but that's just every game out there.

Fuck rockstar or whoever handles online. They're doing online exclusive weapons like gtao where you can't use them in single player

Oh, forgot to add, npcs in GTAO are way harder and can headshot you with a pistol from the longest range behind a bush, or from a moving car.

how do I avoid getting killed? should I ride through the wild and avoid the roads?
Also what kind of pelts should I be getting for good cash money? I just sold raccoon and rabbit pelts for very meagre earnings (like $1-$2.50 range), should I be going for pristine deer pelts instead? what about fisihng?

I want to play online to kill people like RDR1 and not bother with missions, is it still worth it?

Online is active but not very good. GTA Online is miles better, and that was shit on by most.

I played today, and the pvp modes wouldn't be so bad if the game had halfway decent third person shooter controls. Can't believe these fucks don't just use what they had in Max Payne 3 (minus the slo-mo) for all their games.
