so now that I've started streaming I realized that borderless gaming isn't making unist drop frames, my monitor just sucks even though it's 60hz and the game is running at 60fps
only problem is I can't get BG to fullscreen uni on my 2nd monitor, can someone help this brainlet out?

Like said, the player base is around equal on both plats, but I think PS is slightly more. If you decide to pick it up, you'll have to deal with about everyone knowing how to play and beating on you for a few months.

You might want to stick with 623B as a reversal instead of 623A. I only tell Dia to do the latter because 623A > EX shenanigans, although it probably isn't as useful on Linne than it is on other characters.

I agree. You can get away with 623A if they block or jump a lot, but even I've been overusing it too much. Unfortunately the blockstun and range on it just doesn't compare to the other characters.

I'm going to get better at throw mix regardless of how many times I get blown up trying to reset my pressure

If it weren't for the EVO announcement, I imagine we'd have new stuff be announced already but now they're saving it for EVO.

It's likely to have an announcement for at least 1 new character (maybe along with a revision announcement) in the future I believe. There is an active scene for the game after all.

I played through to at least 3-1 with every character to try and put together a shortlist of who I'd like to main

My shortlist includes Orie, Nanase, Seth, and Linne

Would anyone be willing to tell me more about how these characters play at a high level?

Seth looks the most intimidating but Nanase is the real issue.

Darn, had the 66C hien combo started and I neutral jump. Bummer hahaha.

Orie is stagger pressure out the ass and incredibly strong oki for meter
Nanase is all about riding the momentum train to keep pelting people with the most annoying fireball in the game and relatively unconventional aerial shenanigans
Seth is about resets, unblockables, and generally confusing the shit out of people
Linne is straight rushdown with a fireball that's only really good up close and midscreen

Anyone of you guys play on ps3 pad? I’m trying it out for the laughs today and I gotta say, I didn’t realize how good the ps4 controller was until now

I learned fighting games through the PS3 Pad and acclimated to the PS4 controller.
PS4 definitely is better, not only is it bigger but the little indents on the analog stick really help out.

There aren't even enough words to describe how much I hate that teleport>CS is a thing.

ggs everyone. Not sure why, but my inputs have been so unclean recently. The number of 66C -> DPs have been ridiculous, and I somehow CVO'd twice mid combo.
Somehow managed to get the optimal 2B combo I never got down around five times without really fishing for it though, so I don't even know.

I give up, I'm fucking up 70% of what I'm trying to do. I'll lab it for a few days and try again.

From my observations, lamp. You need to make people even more impatient fighting you. While icey completely disregards the usefulness of CS outside of just meter, he always charges up for GRD when the opponent is a screen away and forces people to come to him. Working on your consistency is probably your next goal since you really want to get into people's heads that getting hit will be dangerous and that creates an entire mental warfare shit that'll make people second guess their decisions to keep themselves safe. I think both you and phrumpf need to improve on this to make your confirms hit hard.

Merks divekick is divequick do its p good for a quick overhead. Also let your children run freely when you have oki advantage. Just remember that if you get hit they disappear

And keep in mind that Merk's vorpal trait allows him to be in blockstun and have his kids not disappear when they usually would.
It's one of the niftier ones.

It's got a midnight-themed battle aesethetic (bar training mode stage).

It has familiar character playstyles and some unique ones (like Carmine, Seth, Yuzu, Hilda and Vatista).

It has an in depth tutorial good for introducing players new to fighting games general mechanics and to the game's own mechanics for those that are already familiar with the genre.

The OST is great.

I'd advise against trying to side-step these orbs until you practice it a bit more. Icey keeps me away with just up-back jCs and jBs and Seth admittedly doesn't have all too great air-to-air moves that aren't his own jB so keeping yourself in the air against me is a good bet.

Also might want to incorporate a bit more mix-ups with assaults instead of going for meaty 2C/5C all the time. You have a standing low, and that's pretty scary

That's one thing I've noticed about Yuzu players too. Their grab gives free combos too so it's pretty sweet.

214b and 623a are often times better options than FF because of the much faster startup and head invincibility starting sooner, plus you can actually CS the first hit of 214b and confirm it like 623b CS. It's especially good for punishing merks getting overzealous with 3c. Also you can confirm 214b for big damage in the corner meterless.

Not completely true actually. Nana is all about versatility and flexibility. She has a lot of tools but doesn't really excel in any areas, so where as endless fireballs and aggressive rushdown may work in some MU or against some opponents, it wont always work and mastering nana is knowing when and how to switch back and forth between style when you need to.

The fact that Atic can consistently block all of my normal assaults is proof enough for me that I should find other ways of opening the opponent up instead of relying on assaults. Plus, I'm still not good at delaying my normals to frame trap + reverse beating, so I figured I ought to work on that instead

Are you talking about Icy's delayed wakeup into throw? I used to do that as well but stopped.
Run up throws after slashing Dia and Atic can tech consistently. There's Yuzu's FF > 66 > D > throw as a blockstring, but that requires a frame perfect input to beat out 2A mashing, and I don't trust myself nearly enough to do that consistently

I actually really recommend you play around with that in training mode because the confirm itself can be finnicky depending on spacing. It can drop if you don't have the right timing between 214b>4b and also if the character is too close you end up 22cing behind you and losing 100 meter to eat a combo.
I cringed hard when that combo round 2 didn't kill when you had cvo available :(

I think assault for Yuzu is still important, her assault j.2C is one of the ones that are a little glitched and come out faster than the normal, and she has absolutely no mixup options up close other than the basic frametrap/tickthrow/assault game. Assaults may be reactable especially offline but you still need to throw them in occasionally

Yea don't use that. Like ever. Once you've established that youll literally never do that ever, then you can maybe throw it in as a mixup when you have cs or 100 meter for 214c to make it safe and just hope they are bad but the results are usually as you just saw.

Reminder that Yuzu is a fair and balanced mid-tier character while Phonon is literally the best character in the game with broken amounts of damage and neutral control.

Yeah, that's why I haven't been using 6B in netplay, but I think you've got to still use assaults since they're so central to the basic UNI game. They're mostly reactable anyway until you get to 5+ frames.

One of these days I'll also reintroduce the 6B in netplay unless it's lag city.

You follow through with 5CC or 5CCC to see if to be relatively safe or catch them trying to press something and convert into big damage.
You can still special cancel so you can make yourself safe.

You could try a fightpad like fighting commander. It might make it easier.

There's a surprisingly large amount of pad Yuzus. It's not impossible, you just have to get used to having weird button maps like C and D on shoulder buttons

There's a good chunk of people who give up on Yuzu even with a stick too, so there's that

After 5[C] > 236AA or 236AAA in particular. Normally I end it with 236C but the way I did it in that previous match I was able to get an air extender of the EX 22C.

I'm actually glad she's relatively hard to play.

Definitely gonna start trying to incorporate stuff like EX cancels into my Enkidu set. That combo felt quite satisfying to pull off. Maybe not too often since I'm pretty sure starting combo with DPs are pretty unsafe.

Devs went on record saying that they will update unist instead of making a new game.
Besides, we'd know if a new version would be coming out and be stuck with the old version since arcades get to play with the newest updates first. We'll get a new character during evo since all evidence points toward it

It used to be 5f max for all of 2018, and every now and then we still get that, but ever since a few months ago I get 6f most often now for God knows what reason.

236C is mostly for corner wallbounce for either CVO extension or oki afterwards
623C has the most minimum damage out of your EX moves so if you're going for the kill, use that
22C is universally the "make me safe" EX. If it catches someone, then it's a combo waiting to happen
214C is a joke but 1 frame parry does sometime come in handy, plus you can whiff cancel any of your specials into it for mindfuckery
j236C is just unsafe utility to tack on more damage or readjust positioning.

So honestly just use more 22C for safety.

UNI isn't a mixup heavy game, nor is Yuzuriha a mixup character, so personally I think it's fine.
Don't get me wrong though, I will still assault if I think it's the correct option to beat out certain moves or if I need to close out the round with just 1 more combo. My restriction isn't as heavy-handed as Icy's no slashing/teleport stuff

Fighting Melk, I can tell you that flashkick can be a lifesaver of a move and can even convert to combo when used defensively via CS IIRC (at least I've seen Melk do it to me quite effectively).

Also, I didn't know Rusty had a pocket Akatsuki.

Don't know if there are limitations or reasons why you don't do XYZ, but:

I feel like you can try to be a bit more cheeky with projectiles from long range, you already try to some degree with ball + laser if they try dash blocking and stuff. There's the back to back lasers/ball spam I think you could give a go once in a while.

It seems like you're really scared of getting FK baited now, it might be worth being a bit more happy with it vs some situations in pressure, since I don't see anyone being whacked out of their block strings with flash kick anymore.

Gems obscuring drill is really dirty, abuse it more.

I don't think flying in the air is legit against some characters, not everyone reacts to it right now, but some like Phonon can probably just slap you for trying it.

Since some people seem to get really frustrated playing vs your Vat since they can't open you up? Maybe abuse that by making them even more impatient with projectile spam as touched on earlier.

I got hit by that shit earlier by some purple square on ranked. I swear to god that fuckin guy had a lag switch or some shit because every time I opened him up without fail the game would completely stop because of the connection. Dropped at least 4 combos because of it. It was the first time I've ever LTG'd someone at the end of a game since it was such shit. Felt good though.

He comes off as pretty easy due to simple inputs for alot of his specials but some of the stuff he can do with his delay rekkas and ground pick ups is crazy (based on what I've seen on people who play him on PS lobbies).
