Nothing that's copied Amnesia has really exceeded it
It's probably one of the better survival horror games ever made in terms of item management and how you can potentially bomb an entire playthrough if you're reckless with resources

RE7's basement is one of the scariest areas I've ever played in a game. When you have to go back with the power out, I almost felt like calling it quits.
I'd say Amnesia is scarier overall, though.

quit about 2 times before actually finishing it, because it's was just to fucking creepy to play in the right environment: lights off, headphones. 3rd time I said fuck it, must end this shit... ending is kinda meh, but still a great experience.

The only game that you can argue "improved" Amnesia TDD was Alien Isolation.
Every single other game was a direct downgrade, even the sequels Machine For Pigs and SOMA. Both removed inventory and minimized puzzle solving from "actually solving a puzzle" to "carrying a single item in your left hand to the next door mechanism."
I feel nobody really appreciates the hubs TDD worked in. Each has several areas you go explore to solve puzzles and get a component for a more complicated door mechanism, like needing multiple chemicals from several areas, mix them together, and turn it into an acid. Or stacking pipes, rewiring the pressure system to balance it, draining the water, and giving yourself a vaccine for the sewer fungi.
It was a simple game, but much more complicated and intricate than fans, critics, and the copycat games gave it credit for.
