Is this game worth it, Yea Forums? I've always been tempted to get it but every time back out due to what appears to be a unholy amount of content and grind
Is this game worth it, Yea Forums...
It's more worth it than any other game that exists
Is the grind as bad as it looks?
there's an item dup glitch that also works for money and then you'll have much less grind when all you've gotta do is get one of an item to have all you'll want. Also for fishing there's a cast dup glitch that's really fun and easy to do. makes fishing what it should have been instead of a snorefest
quantity in games is so dumb. it should be that once you get an ore or any item, you've got unlimited supply of it
>There's a trick that let's you just not play the game
For how much it costs, its totally worth it, if you want to, you can easily put in 100 hours in.
Great game to play with friends, comfy to play by yourself, and the grinding is minimal compared to other grinding games, its easy to get what you want/need in an hour of playtime.
when the FUCK is 1.3.6
Yes. It's fantastic and runs on anything*. Great content, great feelings, great multiplayer, and after all of this, it has a great modding scene.
>it has a great modding scene.
This, Calamity is incredible. Better than the base game.
There is not that much grind, you're mostly progressing from boss to boss until you reach the end.
Its one of the best games this decade, and also really cheap. You definitely should consider buying it.
The grinding is not so bad as long as you're not hell-bent on getting everything single rare drop. If you just explore for the sake or exploration, all the necessary materials should fall into your lap. Only exceptions I can remember are some of the hardmode ore sets, but usually a mining potion makes that easier
It's called playing the game
It’s fun if you have friends
Begone fabsol
>Is this game worth it
for it's price yes, absolutely, even if you don't go nuts on grinding endgame sub 1% drops
Like others said, it’s grindy only if you want some rare drops (and oh boy those can be grindy, never forget Uzi and Medusa Head), otherwise it flows along quite nicely with a steady progression curve towards the next boss to beat. It’s a wonderful game that implements the feel of power progression better than nearly any other game, you’d be a fool to skip it if the core idea interests you at all.
starbound is better
you know the drill Yea Forums!
when someone makes a terraria thread you host a server!
NOW HOST!
Get the tModLoader and get these mods:
Reduced Grinding
Magic Storage
After you've beat the base game add in:
Fargo's Soul/Mutant Mod
Thorium
Then after that add in:
Calamity no music/music
You're welcome.
You don't even need to grind unless you're looking for something very specific.
Amazing bait, sasuga user
Not a lot of grind, but definitely an unholy amount of content. There's so much shit in this game that you probably won't see even half of it after a few playthroughs.
Maybe they finally went back over the game's hellish code and fixed it all.
And to add to this, the good thing is that you’re most likely not going to need something very specific. Thankfully, the game usually has multiple relevant weapon choices for all character archetypes (which in turn are decided by the armor bonuses, and armors are generally very reliable to find crafting materials for) at all times, so while finding a nice rare weapon can be nice, it’s never absolutely necessary.
DESU, the only equipment category that can be somewhat unnecessarily hard to find good stuff in is accessories, but it’s not too hard to find Magic Mirror for one guy.
with friends it was fun. haven't played it since there were only 3 bosses in the game. why would you ever play the real game now though when there are so many mods to slap on top of it?
Because, of all the mods out there, the base game is still the most balanced way to play in regards to progression. The pace is good so you can always tell when you're getting better and cooler shit. With mods, everything is cool all the time and the pacing and progression don't really exist at all. It's just "Get the cooler shit to kill the bigger bosses."
Starbound is a mishmash of half baked ideas put together with no direction. Can’t be better than Terraria.
Tried this game a few times.
>Walk right for a while
>find a natural cave
>spend an hour going down
>find nothing of interest
>go back up
>go left
>find another cave
>spend another hour exploring
>nothing of interest
autistic game. can't wait for hytale
It's like $5, and is on sale all the time, if you're worried about not getting your moneys worth, you got a problem. It is my second most played game on steam, and has by far been the best value for money I have probably ever gotten out of a game (excluding free ones)
I'm fairly certain you'll enjoy it, even if just for a few hours. They could have made so much more money if the price was higher, the game deserves a much higher price tag desu, I would have happily paid more. Probably one of the best $5 I've spent
Literally me
Did you not mine ore? Did you not find chests? Did you not go deeper than dirt level?
this is probably unironically true, they have a gigantic autist in the team now they scooped up from the modding community who is a far better programmer than Red
It's literally the only reason I could imagine something that isn't on par with the full blown content updates of the past is taking as long as those to release.
The game is designed for you to DIG down. The caves on the surface are just there as little loot boxes for when you first start.
as an autist who follows the status of these updates like a hawk, they have said in the past that the update is laying the groundwork for future update plans; so it's a very real possibility
also the update seems to have something new or improved in literally every area of the game, so the experience may have been dissected piece by piece and small improvements made, it seems like this is very much a polish update, not a content update.
Terraria is great. The only way it could be improved is if the picks all got a very slight increase in mining speed.
I hope it goes on sale soon so a friend can buy a copy and we can play with mods.
How the fuck is it profitable for them to be releasing "polish" updates on this ancient game?
The finances of re-logic are a mystery to me
everytime they release an update people want to play
if people want to play they get their friends to play
their friends might not have the game
"it's only 10 bucks why not"
sales boost
Terraria has sold like fucking hot cakes, that's how. It came out in a time when games like it weren't common.
redigit has autism
The game has an unholy amount of grinding and content BUT you could just waltz through it by using: Minishark, Clockwork assault rifle, Megashark and Vortex beater.
All those are easy to get and are strong enough to take on anything on the section when they can be acquired.
The game is about exploring at your own pace. It only feel like a grind when you want a specific item.
I would literally kill a man if it meant I magically had in my hands a version of Terraria which was perfectly made in 3D with the same charm, soul, and aesthetic
>Rangedfag
pretty good, the apache update really made it something special
I would kill a man just for terraria 2 if it's as good as the original
t. warriorcuck
Your "melee" weapons are all projectiles, faggot.
Terraria may have the best content:price ratio of any game on steam. It is absolutely 1000% worth it. Terraria is probably the least controversial game on Yea Forums even. Almost everybody loves it.
I really hope they add an Apache mount to the game for the last ever update the game receives.
>magincels
>meleechimps
now now, I think we can both agree that magic is the superior class
What about Summoner?
I wonder what happened to that guy who has thousands of Terraria characters and roleplays an entire universe.
>$10 or less
>For a game so bloated with content that you won't even see all of it after hundreds of hours of play
>Game itself is actually fun on top of it
It's pretty much one of those games everyone on Steam owns because why would you not own it?
There is no grind past the early mining, which only feels like grinding if you're not new to the game.
i give it a play through every other year. starting off is so god awful due to lack of mobility and base set up time. its like pushing a really big rock on flat land for a bit until you get to a wicked hill to throw it down.
>Stand in a corner the class
Terraria should honestly be preserved by the Library of Congress
How the fuck have we not had a sequel yet
The retards managing Otherworld really fucked up I really don't know how you fuck up that hard.
A cheap game with a ton of content and decent amount of hours. the grind can be quite comfy too. Imo not as fun once you've killed all the bosses but it's still a ton of hours.
I like how Red is such a chad that he just shut the whole fucking project down because it didn't meet his standards
Summoner don't have any summon damage weapons, only sentries, but since most bosses just fly the sentries are kinda useless, also the class is shit pre-hardmode and even on hardmode they are weak until you get the dragon which then make the class broken because the fucking dragon is overpowered.
Why did we bully Blue again? What happened to him?
It's as grindy as you want it to be and you can skip the truly tedious grinding in the second "half" of the game by fishing up crates to stockpile for a few hours, pretty comfy.
With frackin universe it is better, but it's much more grindy.
Literal galaxy brain
He probably ascended.
>tried to play a wizard
>by endgame end up dressed as a wizard flying around in a UFO using a laser gatling gun
Finally gonna get this game again this week once a steam refund goes through. Haven't played it since the old days when it was on Xbox 360. Has anything major been added to the game since then?
Too much shit to even summarize.
Game would be perfect with a few more support weapons/accessories, like a magic item that heals others.
The Thorium mod adds in a Bard and a Healer class with weapons, armor, and accessories.
Sounds great, can't wait
bro and his grill got it and invited me to play with em, they had tones of fun, and when i wasnt around to show them how to summon bosses they built shit and farmed smallstuff for fun. lategame they were hellbent on making the minig UFO
they clearly enjoyed the game even if they didnt think they would
>tfw they nerfed healcaster and friend doesnt dodge shit
THE ENEMY ASCENDED BEYOND YOUR CONTROL
OR WAS THAT ALL YOUR INTENTION?
THEY HAVE MANAGED DO DEMOLISH WHATEVER WE MADE
BUT YOU'RE FAILING TO COMPREHEND
>The retards managing Otherworld really fucked up I really don't know how you fuck up that hard.
There's this video on YT where there was this dev or project manager who got hired into working on Terraria Otherworld.
He said that all the devs got was the wiki, and development was going nowhere.
He scolded them and they got offended or some shit like that and he was telling them as it was: that nothing happened since the start of development.
When your game sells around 10 million copies you can afford to keep it supported for a couple of decades
