Honestly, the script was fine as it was before Blot shat all over it. It could have simply continued with the race between Maginia and the Seafarers until the unleash Jorm by accident because both Persephone and Enrica got to the last shrine before your party. Persephone feels bad about it, goes to sacrifice herself, Enrica feels even worse, joins your party to chase her. Blot was almost a non-character who existed only to give us the worst possible cliches and plot twists in the whole series.

Literal trial and error. You need a very specific party, including a Protector with all elemental walls, lots of Axcelas and a huge amount of patience, it's all about writing its moves, dying, trying again and little by little breaking him down.
That webm is an unfortunate issue of the original, where bosses can blindsight you randomly when you start the fight, when it only happens if they chase and attack you from behind.

It is, but that doesn't stop people from going apeshit and figuring out insane bullshit strategies to take down superbosses with a party of only snipers, or soloing the entire game with only a single tanking unit. Compared to most modern JRPGs it's considerably tougher, but otherwise yeah.
Wizardry kind of forces you to be one though, it's a lot more bare in the early games, a lot more unforgiving, and it's just cruel at parts, particularly IV's infamous EVERYTHING. Not really fair to compare much to it.

Is very fun, it's of course rough because is the first game of the series, has no skill tree in-game so you have to look online what skills unlock others and is very easy to break with the Immunize + Defender combo, but is still worth a try. Of course as the other user said, the 6th stratum is a nightmare made reality, kudos to anyone who manages to reach Primevil without guides, let alone defeat him.

It surely does fix a lot and since it was released after IV, it already has a lot of QoL improvements. But it also introduces Grimoires which are a horrible mechanic made to kind of replace subclassing in a game that originally didn't have any similar mechanic, they allow any class to use skills from other classes or monsters, but they're hugely RNG reliant, along using space in your bag until you return to town. You can ignore them for most of the game but the superboss will require you to grind for them. At least in 2U they are fixed and are better to use.

The only exclusive thing that Untold adds is Gladsheim which is a Story Mode exclusive dungeon, it has its own share of bosses (including one of the best ones in the whole series). Story Mode is also required to 100% the game since Classic doesn't have access to it, so it's usually recommended to play Story first, get all the Gladsheim stuff and monsters and then play Classic if you still want. Both Story and Classic have access to the 6th stratum and Primevil / Yggdrassil Core.

From there, it's learning the pattern so you can nullify the elemental attacks with your shieldslut.
Beyond that, all you need to know is when the shitty bind-fucking-everyone attack and necrosis happen, and also know that it wipes your buffs if 10 or more total are applied, so consider having less than a full party.

The skill tree diagram is a non-issue, as far as I remember the game still tells you what skills are needed to unlock new skills. Is by far the best DS game so it's worth a try, the sea exploring is a nice puzzle once you get a hang of how it works and having three endings gives it a bit of replayability. I think the only thing I find as a huge flaw is that you NEED to beat all three routes to obtain all the items needed for ultimate equipment (along killing the bosses from the Armoroad route in the right order, otherwise you might lose an item).
I think they have remained properly faithful with the remakes so best boy Logre shouldn't suffer. Also I'm sure U4 will never happen.

It's not really that deep. It has some different bosses and you unlock 1 of 2 classes. The choice is basically just Siding with Armoroad against the Deep City and Siding with the Deep City against Armoroad. There's also an obligatory "True" route where you solve every problem but it's a bit confusing to unlock.

Not exactly. Halfway during the game you're forced to choose to side with Armoroad or the Deep Sea. Depending on who you choose, you unlock a different new class and the bosses from the fourth and fifth stratum change, along several different dialogues. There's also a true ending but the way to unlock it is kind of cryptic but it at least gives you the actual final boss. You have to beat the game at least once with each route so you can unlock the other two classes, Shogun and Yggdroid, along the item drops from their respective route bosses.

Classic-style first person JRPG where the main focus is labyrinth exploration where you draw your own maps with the touchscreen, notorious for being way harder than your usual RPG. It has its charm since it's all about imagination, the games tend to have small stories that just serve to have a motivation to explore so it gives you the chance of filling the gaps since you create your own characters, give them names, classes and send them to explore.
People get into the series because of Himukai's unique artwork but stay for the gameplay and amazing music.

They sure are. Other than the flawed grimoire system in 1U (which is mostly fixed in 2U), they're very good remakes. 2U also changes almost every single map compared to the original so they're both pretty much completely different games. The controversial part comes from the Story modes which are innofensive overall, but they kind of affect the game's quality overall. In 1U, the extra dungeon is locked to Story so unless you play it, you won't unlock 100%; in 2U the bosses are scaled based on the Story party and since Fafnir is a damage canon, the game ends suffering from HP bloat, making pretty much the whole postgame unfun to play.

It still is, considering Forbidden Wood is a beautiful stratum, it's just that in my personal experience, fighting the postgame bosses was just plain frustrating because the game abused the use of cores, so the dragons instead of being challenging they just felt stupidly annoying to deal with. The game overall is great so those negatives don't really ruin the overall experience.
There's also stuff like Ginnungagap, the Restaurant and town management which are really fun additions to the remake.

I like my depressing backstories in my EO. My bandana's backstory is that she was a new explorer in a guild with her brother, but they end all dead except for her in the first maze by the baboon boss before being saved by my guild, found with her brother's decapitated head on her lap. To save herself from a sure mindbreak, her brain ends believing that the male in the party was her brother, who had actually received the news that her sister had perished back in Etria a week ago defending new explorers from an invasion of higher stratum FOEs alone, so even with the disaproval of his guild, he rolls with it. When the fight with Logre happens, he's bedridden with the Titan's curse.
EOIV has no voice lines, but he surely would have a strong, easygoing tone of voice.
