You ARE working on your game, right? When's it coming out, user?
You ARE working on your game, right? When's it coming out, user?
im fixing bugs right now
I can draw but I can't code
going to bang out something shit in unreal and make at least $3
learn to program then
it's not like art, you don't even need to be good at it to succeed
You've made these threads constantly, there's not enough time to make more progress
I'm considering taking the Unreal-pill after my current Unity project is finished, which sucks cause I've been with the program for 10 years. Any anons here made the change? Is it worth the transition?
source engine 2 when?
But it hurts my soul
Still the best threads though. Yea Forums in current year is really bad and no fun, these threads at least have some juice in them.
you're looking at it wrong
whenever it is, add a few years for users to do valve's documentation for them
I hope soon. Will stick to 2D games in the meantime. Epic and Unity are both scummy as fuck. Maybe Godot will get good enough one day.
I'm making a Ludum Dare jam game so tomorrow!
>weekdays: too tired
>weekends: too lazy
Aaaaaaaaaaaaa fuck
Every moment I spend coding is lost to the void of my mind. I'd rather literally experience pain because at least I can remember it.
This basically
Imagine thinking Yea Forums was one person
You have to power through it user. Don't let your dreams be memes!
Then save money and hire a programmer?
You're implying an artist should be the design lead of a game? I've got plenty of cool ideas chief but I'm basically dead weight in terms of implementation, and if that's the status of a project lead then it's bound to fail. Hire me instead and we'll make something cool ok.
based
nodev
You should try it at least
Post examples of your work
Post yours
You're the one looking for a job user
But Yea Forums is gonna hack me
Good luck out there, user
You're retarded. Give up. No one needs another mediocre artist or idea guy who can't code.
Learn to draw better and then get hired.
and I can't do either, get over yourself
Rude
The office has a lot of projects going on right now, but we are planning on porting one of our experiences to the Oculus Quest pretty soon.
You came to this thread to whine, look for pity, and for someone to give you some magic advice. Wanna learn to code? Then learn to code retard. Don't like it? Don't do it then. Oh you can draw? Great, draw shit then, who gives a fuck. Wanna make games? Join a team. Although you probably draw fucking anime ladyboy looking fags just like every highschooler with a sketch pad and colored pencils.
spent way too much time on some rendering optimizations because i'm retarded. should be able to maintain ~2000fps uncapped regardless of level size now...could support up to hundreds of millions of tiles if i switched maps no non-contiguous memory but that would also come with a performance hit. Currently using ~65k tiles(larger than any super mario world level) but can easily do 1M as is.
now that i've gotten that bullshit out of the way i can work on some fun stuff. next on my menu is dynamic texture picking/layering during rendering along with building a streamlined level editor for prototyping.

I wasn't the guy you were replying to, just calling you out for being rude
What an astute observation.
Very cool

Why is Love2D such complete garbage?
I can code but I cant art.
Work for me for free.
what are the best game maker or rpg maker tutorials
art is the easy part just low poly or pixel shit
coding takes time to learn and requires iq
good art is so much fucking harder than writing working code. writing good, readable, extensible working code on the other hand is about on-par with creating good art i'd say.
2 questions. Will coffee help or benefit my coding if I need to rush something. Also is it possible to listen to podcasts while coding. Thanks.
caffeine just makes you more alert/awake, if you need to rush something just write it such that it "works", and then rewrite it properly afterwards when you have more time. As for podcasts you can obviously listen to them while you code but I personally find find that anything with talking or lyrics can be distracting when working one something.
i can do some shitty meshes but i cant code ;(

Don't take this personally user, I have this gripe with almost all of the indie games out there. I'm just using you to vent right now.
But why is this all too often the case with indie games? From what I can tell, it's a Jet Set Radio style game, but you're controlling some Carebear, and for some reason grinding and doing flips with a speed boat, and the players are just pointlessly doing this on some island. What is the purpose of the game? What is the overarching concept? See Jet Set Radio, which has everything tied into an overarching concept, that being that you are playing a street punk in Tokyo. But here, there is no purpose, it's all random. Do you have plans to remedy this down the line? What is the overarching concept you're going for, or is this just for your practice and amusement? If so, fine, but other indie devs should understand that people don't really want to pay for something that lacks a strong and interesting overarching concept.
planning to make some dkc-esque platforming game on gamemaker studio or unity. i just want to finalize my ideas on some gdd before i start working on a semi-functional prototype. plus I need to find some artist to help me with the assets since most of my drawings are crude mouse doodles.
