What did people see in this boring ass series?
What did people see in this boring ass series?
Same thing as people see in Mario, days when they used to be younger and happier.
But halo isn't meant for 8 year olds. It's also actually pretty good, the guns feel powerful and unique, which is important in FPSs.
Mario and Halo are nothing like each other
The real answer is FPS is a dog shit POSeasy genre to make that just involves moving a cross over targets to hit them. Thus it changes from generation to generation with the same genre but different series being popular.
It was the first fps that comfortable to play with gamepad.
Marty O'Donnel.
You're missing my point. Halo/Mario are both games that most people enjoy due to those games being their childhood games, yes Halo came waaaaaaay later than Mario but the sentimental value remains for a lot of people 25-30 years old.
>the guns feel powerful
Not sure if serious?
babby's first fps
Finally a shooter special kids could play.
that would be 007 goldeneye or doom
>Bing Bang Wahoo shit isn't dogshit POSeasy
What are actual complaints towards Halo besides
>it's not quake
It peaked at Halo 3 then they made 4 and the others and the maps were like 2ft rooms with no cover also the abilities fucked shit up.
Little hard to explain it's before your time.
Am completely unique atmosphere/aesthetic/soundtrack and the dying light of arena shooters.
Quake, doom, unreal tournament, every classic arena shooter built up to halo, and it all died with halo reach. Anyone who didn’t play classic arena shooters in their prime will never understand.
Not saying halo was the best, but it was undeniably the largest and last major arena shooter.
fun
The guns suck. The gun limit sucks. The bullet sponge shielded enemies suck. The level design is mediocre. The plot is laughable. It's floaty as shit.
Somewhat but the bigger picture everyone seems to miss is these games are just a lot of fun. They may not scratch the same itch to a 15 year old today but I'm 36 and never understood Pong or even PacMan really. Games do age.
But back to the point, Halo has an interesting setting, characters and enemies with guns that aren't just variations of rifle. It lets you drive and see desert, ice, grass, alien stuff. It's just fun to do these things. Now factor in how few games did that when it released, on that scale with that production value and on a console.
Or with Mario you suddenly had an objective and an end. It's not much of a plot but Atari games rarely ended. You just played until you died. If you had an objective at all it was singular and repetitive. Mario introduced new enemies every few levels, new level types, and a sense you were accomplishing something.
I think people get wrapped way too tight on difficulty and skill or whatever. We didn't play for that until Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat, or at arcades. A game doesn't have to be hard to be enjoyable. It just has to leave you with a smile. Halo and Mario did that. It's nostalgia by default, we're far removed from release. But a new IP that hit all the same notes would still be a hit. Give people more than they thought possible.
I liked that most of guns didn't insta kill you, it made tactics more important.
DELETE THIS FUCKING POST
YOU FUCKING FAGGOT
Shut the fuck up you faggot ass bitch
>The guns suck.
Nah there's plenty of of good and bad guns in every FPS.
>The gun limit sucks.
So it's not quake.
>The bullet sponge shielded enemies suck.
You've never played the game or you need to get good.
>The level design is mediocre.
1-3 has some of the best levels in an FPS
>The plot is laughable.
It's pretty straightforward, has a great universe, and pretty good cast of characters from 1-Reach.
>It's floaty as shit.
Movement makes sense for the map sizes and inclusion of vehicles.
>The grenades
>The regular guns barely do any damage while the power weapons are incredibly stupid overpowered.
>the sword
>in a 1v2 situation anything other than a power weapon means you're dead.
>the ttk is retarded because unless you have an overpowered power weapon you can't help being killed if someone gets first shot on you and there is no cover.
>the grenades
>very floaty and stiff
>most maps are very vertical and its too easy to spawncamp or abuse bad map design
>the grenades
The campaigns are OK. But cods are better because while both campaigns are, without any debate, dumb popcorn shit at least cod knows this and makes cool set pieces.
Other way around, stupid millenial.
good level design, good enemy design, good multiplayer
>The bullet sponge shielded enemies suck
wrong. the brutes and elite AI is fucking great and you have to play to your weapon and level design strengths to kill them efficiently.
>level design is mediocre
only mediocre part is the repeating arenas in library and two betrayals in halo 1. Halo 3 doesn't even have a single bad encounter.
>no u
nice argument, retard
Let me guess, getting assraped in 4v4's?
Sounds like you just need to get fucking good.
You had no argument in the 1st place.
Just admit you've never played the games.
nigger
>hurr durr you weren't young enough to not see a shitty quake knockoff for what it was so you must be bad
how to be good at halo:
>power weapons
>spam grenades
>always run butt buddy style, dont forget to spam grenades
>don't even need to aim really
god I hate kids so much
>Nah there's plenty of of good and bad guns in every FPS.
Not Halo.
>So it's not quake.
It's not anything good, you double nigger.
>You've never played the game or you need to get good.
Literally the shooter of choice of xbots.
>1-3 has some of the best levels in an FPS
Tell me how I know you never played the genre outside Halo.
>Movement makes sense for the map sizes and inclusion of vehicles.
No, it doesn't. What's the point of air vehicles when you can just hop out and casually float to the ground? Same with jumping out of a buggy. Hell, what's the point of those huge maps with fucking nothing but covers for the bullet sponges?
It's fun, something a Sonyfag like you wouldn't understand.
Babby's first shooter, basically. And thanks to hundreds of millions in marketing, it is precisely that for probably a hundred million people or so.
It was the first super popular modern twin stick fps.
People went "Oh shit, I can control a gun on console without it controlling like a bag of dicks?"
You can? Since when?
I mean, compared to Goldeneye Halo controlled like a fucking dream.
