Is it good, just way too overhyped for it's own good?

Nobody ever talks about this game. Where is the hype?

Most overrated game in the series alongside IX

It's a great game, so of course there will be "people" who call it "overhyped".

>shit story
>shit characters
>shit pacing
>shit combat
>good character design
>bland environment design
>mostly mediocre music with a few decent tracks

I understand why people overrate games like Chrono Trigger, but this I will never understand. At least FF V was fun to play.

the last good final fantasy.

Very overhyped. Mostly because its fans were butthurt about FFVII

It's eidely considered to be the best in the series among peopke whose first FF wasn't 7.
Polls on Yea Forums and /vr/ show 5 and 9 to be favourites, with 6 and 7 coming right after, though.

5 had worthless characters and plot set in a rich, interesting world that you couldn't really backtrack through.

Is the PS1 version on a Vita playable?

>5 had worthless characters
You mean the best characters in the snes games?

It was Nintendies coping with the fact the series no longer was relrased on ther shitty console.

Guess how I know you weren’t around when it was released? Why do underaged faggots feel the need to chime in on things they weren’t around for?

Stick with the SNES release.

Any redeeming quality it may has been wasted by utter shit combat

Great game with great characters and scenarios but a lackluster and boring overarching story and nonexistent difficulty
I think everyone should play it at least once but it's not the pinnacle of the series or anything

not to mention how much of a broken mess it is

Galuf was an inferior version of 4's Cid,
who gets replaced by his daughter named Krill who has the personality of one.
Faris is a one dimensional "dyke".
Bartz has no personality.

Only Gilgamesh and maybe Galuf had ANY personality.

Yes, it is the sixth game of the FF franchise, that tells you all you have to know about this game

Ted Woosley's changes aren't personality. Bartz and Faris might be simple, but they don't fall completely flat like the characters in 4 and 6.

There's more to a plane than a line.

5 has the best gameplay and party customization of the ATB era.

5 is the most challenging Final Fantasy game, for sure, unless 1 or 8 (haven't played) are.

I'm intimate with FF6: I discovered it by accident.
Telling someone to go to it will frustrate them if it doesn't blow them away.

Hype and rating is irrelevant unless you're a fucking NPC.
A game is either good or bad, that's it.

FF6 doesn't get good until World of Ruin

I love this.

Most people say it's good until that point,
but I enjoyed hunting dragons-Doom Gazer-Hidon-Phunbaba,
much stronger enemies in familiar haunts, and Searching for Friends.

>overhyped
>when FFVII exists
Granted, both games deserve their legacy, but no other high profile game put a "quite possibly the best game ever made" quote on the back like VII did. The game has become an untouchable muslim cube like OoT.

VI is underhyped, if anything. This is because the game is only good if you played the FFs in release order during their time of relevancy. The jump from 4 to 6 was like MGS1 to 2, people couldn't believe those backgrounds were done on an SNES. The experimentation from V gave the team all the data they needed to refine the gameplay formula, and there's never been an FF game with so many unique characters again. The story for its time took every successful trope and used them honestly and effectively, even letting you see what it's like when the bad guy wins. The pacing is insanely good, too.

If you don't abuse glitches or guide scum, it is hard as shit. There's so much to do, and you really have to pay attention to find everything.

Problem is nowadays, it's a pretty underwhelming experience, like all SNES FFs. If you didn't grow up with it, you won't even have the patience to get through the mechanics.

Basically, it's an anti-zoomer game in full. I wish the few nutjobs my age that can't let it go would just shut up and let it rest on the laurels it received. The team considered it the end of Final Fantasy, and if it weren't for VII being what it was, more or less is the last Final Fantasy.

FF5 had a party harem tier, even with a loli. That's why Yea Forums has a boner for it.

>don't fall completely flat like the characters in 4
?????

It's the new "FF7 is the best game ever!"
people got tired of hearing that in the early 2000's and instead flocked to a different final fantasy in order to sound like the smart cynical one who really knows their shit by saying "nah this one is better."

They went to 8 for a bit, which they never actually played, then Spoony made a fucktarded video on it and everyone who didn't play it now says it's one of the worst.
These hipster fags then went to 6, giving them the bonus of saying "Hey the older one is better you all just like 7 because you can't handle sprites and 'old school graphics' like me. You just don't get the complexity of it!"

which is horse shit.
It has like 5 characters tops of the fucking stupid big roster of party members that actually fucking matter to the story at all, it has a gay episodic method of telling stories of each party member- despite most of them not fucking mattering at all- and all of them come to the conclusion of "wow kefka sucks lets get him.", the game is piss easy, coming from 5 offers far less actual customization, and has a fuck awful final third thanks to the stupid as fuck world of ruin.

It's mediocre. It's up there with 4 in terms of being pretty solid but beaten out pretty easily by other titles in the series. The only fucking reason it's regarded highly is because hipster faggots kept spouting that "THIS IS THE REAL BEST ONE" after 7 got overhyped by normies who didn't play it.

Fuck 6 fags. They are the worst of them.

Here is the proof.
>unique characters, good pacing, 'refined' formula, good pacing, it's the first time a jrpg at the time did the 'bad guys won oops but never mind we still killed him it's all good'.

If you wanna work on your 6-fag bait, try for "oh dude kefka is so complex!" next time.

The whole 'FF6 is awesome and the best FF' revisionist history considering Japan doesn't even have it in their top 20 best games, despite having like half a dozen FF games.

mynintendonews.com/2019/04/24/japan-heres-famitsus-top-20-games-of-the-heisei-era/

Chrono Trigger
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
NieR: Automata
Final Fantasy VII
Okami
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Final Fantasy X
Pokémon Red/Green/Blue/Yellow
Dragon Quest V
Xenogears
Vainglory
Suikoden II
Mother 2 (Earthbound)
Splatoon 2
Tactics Ogre
Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G (Monster Hunter Freedom Unite)
Kingdom Hearts
(Number 17 tie) Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Final Fantasy XV
Final Fantasy XI
(Number 20 tie) Pokémon Diamond & Pearl

It's a fine game, but it is massively overhyped. It's your typical SNES era JRPG.

Imagine being seen as worse than 15.

>splatoon 2
huh. neat.

First part was meant to say:
>The whole 'FF6 is awesome and the best FF' revisionist history is particularly amusing considering

>The only fucking reason it's regarded highly is because hipster faggots kept spouting that "THIS IS THE REAL BEST ONE" after 7 got overhyped by normies who didn't play it.

>Fuck 6 fags. They are the worst of them.

This also very accurately depicts ff9's fans.

FFVI is very good. I dont think it's the best, but I enjoyed my time with it.

one of my favourite games of all time. Incredible

Just play it for an afternoon, see if it appeals to you. It's not like its going to cost money or take 18 hours to download a 3mb rom

walked into an indie gaming store when I was a kid and the intro was playing on a huge projection screen. i'm incapable of being objective about it, it's my favorite FF experience.

Who cares, it's still worth playing.

It's a game you play on a free Saturday from morning to night.

I liked it. Wind God Gau was the shit.

>If you don't abuse glitches or guide scum, it is hard as shit.
No it isn't, you're just completely fucking retarded.

This. I'm 36 years old. FFVI came out when I was 12 years old and was the biggest fucking deal in my life as a kid. When FF7 was announced I was ecstatic. Collected all the info I could and patiently awaited for it to be released. Bought it on release day and stayed up playing it for almost 2 days straight. FF6 fans were the first people buying FF7. They were the same fanbase.

The FF6 vs FF7 bullshit is 100% an invention of the bullshit forum arguments on the internet years after both games were released.

>Final Fantasy XV
Embarrassing.

8 is the best ff. Anybody nor agreeing is just a manchild/onions or never played the game.
/thread

Its overhyped, FFXV does what 6 tries but better.

15 is one of the best FFs ever though
