I just played through AA6. Thought it was a pretty strong entry vs 4 and 5 and had one of the best final cases of the series. There was a trilogy rerelease recently with some nice touches (I think they updated the textboxes and stuff). Is AA pretty much done/dead now? Only one I haven't played is DGS2, didn't really like DGS1 too much. Not sure where they could go with the series now if they decide to revisit it.
I think they need to distance themselves again from the spirit medium stuff, AJ and DD worked fine thanks to the new mechanics but giving us a whole kingdom and game dedicated to it was already a bit too much, even if being able to see the last moments of the victim was really need. The whole first trilogy had it as the center of everything (DL-6, Morgan Fey conspiring against Maya, Dahlia Hawthorne) and then AA6 was all about spirit summoning, but at the same time they need to go back on how the Magatama worked originally since I feel it was very underused in AA5 and 6, along giving us a bit more mature Maya, 6-DLC was a huge diservice considering how proper she had become during the main game.
It needs again more focus on investigation segments, the 3DS era felt like it lacked a lot on that. Also bring back Gumshoe, at least so we can at least know what has been of him since AAI2.
They won't do it, but there's enough room left to bullshit a story about Athena's biological father.
Anthony Bennett
>It needs again more focus on investigation segments, the 3DS era felt like it lacked a lot on that. I strongly agree with this. Its actually kind of silly at how much simpler the investigations sections were in 5 and 6 and DGS even though they had 3d available to potentially do some really cool stuff with
Which APK?
Was he ever even mentioned in passing?
Elijah James
Oh yeah, we still have the whole Lamiroir stuff going on. Who bets she gets killed in the next game before dropping the soup?
Brody Allen
I'm not sure how I feel about the new Trilogy as a whole. On one hand, I like Apollo and Athena and wish they'd retire Phoenix or at least only use him for the big cases.
On the other hand, I feel like Apollo personality-wise is diet Phoenix with a bigger sarcastic streak and a bit more of the "only sane man" given how Phoenix has gotten a touch more eccentric thanks to Trucy.
I liked DD at first, but after going back to it, Cases 2 and 3 feel like a chore and the game is super heavy handed with its messages. SoJ was a bit better, but I found myself liking the segments that weren't in Khurain more, especially since the main villain was really bland.
Overall, I'd say Kristoph was the best villain from the new Trilogy, which is kind of a shame since I wanted more from him and Apollo barely has a relationship with him that's shown onscreen.
DD DLC > SoJ > AJ > DD > SoJ DLC
Adam Roberts
how are the mobile ports of DD and SoJ? I played through AJ/AA1 on mobile and it seemed nice with the better artwork
Justin Hall
The original trilogy is my favorite game series of all time and is endless replay able to me. I freaking love it. The new games all lack the same charm, but DGS was decent and I’m excited for the sequel then Scarlet Study is ready.
If there’s a next game I hope it does what AJ was supposed to do and completely moves away from the characters. Maybe have a few small cameos like running into Gumshoe at a crime scene or a returning witness, but not a single main character should return.
Jordan Rodriguez
Excellent. I played through both AA5 and 6 on an Android emulator at 1920x1080 on my PC and it was great, 0 issues. I think the only thing lacking is the microphone gimmick and being able to yell 'Objection'. Also you miss out on the 3ds '3d' stuff.
>Overall, I'd say Kristoph was the best villain from the new Trilogy Tfw we'll never undo the black psy-lockes
Jeremiah Diaz
I'm thinking more thematically that they can do nothing new anymore. They have done everything with the series: new protagonists with different tragic backstories, bringing back older characters and making them parents/mentor figures, going to different countries and time periods to further flesh out the world, they have revolutionized they court system multiple times, every person involved in the courtroom procedings has been the killer at some point. And I can go on. Seriously, what can they do that is genuinely exciting without being too weird?
Grayson Reyes
Fuck me, I'm mad about it already
Jaxon Perez
Just finished chapter 3 in SoJ and this little tsundere is so cute. Now I ship PW and Rayfa hard af
William Cruz
>Was he ever even mentioned in passing? I don't think he was.
Bentley Wright
Fucking hell, DGS left me with horribly aching blue balls. It was alright, but some anons keep saying DGS2 is even better. Is it true?
Brayden James
Final case is fucking crazy man, prepare yourself.
Jackson Bailey
I haven't played it but that's generally what I see said about the second game
James Murphy
>If there’s a next game I hope it does what AJ was supposed to do and completely moves away from the characters. Maybe have a few small cameos like running into Gumshoe at a crime scene or a returning witness, but not a single main character should return. I kind of want them to give all the current characters a proper conclusion and tie up all loose ends (like Lamiroir)... but I think AA6 already mostly did that.
Andrew Ramirez
>Tfw we'll never undo the black psy-lockes At least we were able to unlock Athena's. What kind of trauma did Kristoph have to have black locks in the first place, other than maybe just showing that he would never budge until Klavier confessed.
Jason Baker
The next is a short, really fun and japanese as fuck side-case, have fun.
Angel Brown
You know, I like SoJ more than the other games in the new Trilogy, but when I think about it, I'm not really sure why.
Phoenix's portions of the story just feel like empty call backs to the previous Trilogy and Athena's case, while enjoyable, is basically in a bubble.
The best part of the game was seeing Apollo come into his own, but he's only playable in two cases. I wanted more Apollo, but all I got was Maya being on trial again and other things I had already seen before done better.
Brody Long
tfw been spoiled on DGS2 already because I'm a retard
Carter Sanders
i can't believe asogi wasn't actually dead, the judge was the main villian all along, and that susato's father was the real watson all along which makes iris and susato related.
Hunter Rivera
>I'm not really sure why. SoJ had: >The best production of any AA game to date (even though it was kinda janky at times). The animations were way more dynamic and included a lot more than just the attorneys at their desks or whatever >An entirely new courtroom proceeding mechanic which was reasonably cool >Had pretty much every major character return >Had Rayfa >Revealed Apollo's past >Had an Apollo / Phoenix showdown >Kickass final episode
Only thing I didn't like about SoJ was Nayuta as the prosecutor. He was pretty boring. Also its almost like they didn't need to put Maya in at all since her character hadn't really changed. Would have been nice to have her in an investigation or something
Christian Rodriguez
This is all true.
I liked Nahyuta at first, but the more I think about it, the more he annoys me. He spends the whole game being abrasive and I don't think he's ever really apologetic about it. Also "A dragon never yields", he says, after spending years yielding for Ga'ran.
At least his unique objection and the subsequent chant are kind of funny.
What is Kurai'in supposed to be anyway? Tibet/Bhutan?
William Wilson
Nahyuta was ok but he grew a bit tiring, reason why it was so satisfying how Blackquill would constantly shut him down, along cutting his rosary throw with his fingers. Regarding Maya I kind of disagree, she shows she has really matured during her case, it was the DLC case which regressed her to her original trilogy self and made pretty much no sense at all her acting like that.
Evan Hughes
The apk the cracked DGS apk
Jordan Perry
What do you guys think about PW vs Layton? The animation is so smooth I got a little disappointed after I switched back to play SoJ
Brandon Torres
Wasn't PL vs AA developed before DD? That's why the animations and models are so different between games. It was a fun game, slightly lacking on the witch trials but still very fun to crack down, but unfortunately the whole plot gets ruined during the last case because of the usual Layton storytelling. It was also really shitty how everyone treats Layton in such high regard while Phoenix has to win his reputation as a defender during the whole game, and still gets disregarded as an accident at the end.
Luke Martin
Reminder to play the multiplayer one in Yea Forums's server
Can someone spoonfeed me the cia for the fan translation of Dai Gyakuten Saiban?. I only find it in MEGA and the stupid download limit wont let me finish it.
James Rodriguez
Yeah, I know Phoenix kinda gets shit on in AA, but even then he gets some respect when he proves himself.
Here it's like "Congrats on solving everything, Professor." and then everyone just laughs at Phoenix for thinking he was notable enough to be abducted, even though he just helped solve a number of problems in the town.
Fuck Labyrinthia.
Dominic Hill
aovidya.com just click "DOWNLOAD AOV" and read the guides around that website if you want to know what it is: you can choose any ace attorney character ever (as well as some guests from other games such as Layton or Sissel) and play as them freely so people coordinate to play Ace Attorney cases, but every role is played by other anons, so you can play as prosecution, judge, witness and so on to conduct gigantic shitshow cases
I disagree with that point. DGS and Layton vs AA make way better use of the 3d models by having characters walk around and using dynamic character angles, much more so than the mainline games.
are there any stream of this it seems like it would be fun
Angel Miller
Used to be, not anymore. it is going through a playercount crisis, used to have over 100 anons online simultaneously in the past, now you get like 30 or 40 at peak times
Parker Collins
>tfw only knew the first part of this post well shit
it was pretty fun when i could keep up with all the updates, but i just can't handle the entire downing process everytime there's an update because my files don't properly update, let alone the amount of space it takes on the harddrive.
i feel like it really got too big for its own good, and that alone is a huge gatekeeper.
The game now has a launcher that automatically keeps everything up to date, so you wouldn't have that problem anymore. And space has been reduced a lot, but it's still too big for its own good definitely
is it really still funny when it's blatantly done on purpose? doesn't seem to be here, but I've never actually played so I don't know how the atmosphere is once it's underway
Hunter Wright
Didn't the opus update slim down the filesize by compacting the music? Give the shit a shot, my boy, it's good stuff. Big Nigga is still around after years of being away.
Henry Baker
thats a relief to hear, still i gotta work with limited hard drive space for anwhile until i can afford to upgrade it, i might regive it a go later.
my favorite case was the one where i had to take over for the prosecutor who decided to reveal that he was the evil mastermind the whole time.
William Morris
The big size was kind of inevitable with how the game is structured. At this point the only way to significantly cut it back down would be to completely revamp the client to be 3D based so that the 3D characters could be stored as models and animations instead of a fuckhuge pile of high-quality moving pictures which someone is actually working on slowly
>which someone is actually working on slowly Woah really. Does AAO have a homepage
Benjamin Green
>is it really still funny when it's blatantly done on purpose? That's the question of the century. This game's biggest problem for me is that some people start being retards on purpose because they think it's funny. Others will tryhard and take it as an extremely serious law simulator which is just as anti-fun. But the players with bad grammar are usually legit.
Colton Rivera
>Still shilling the server from 2 years ago that got filled with trannies
I just googled it to see a video and it seems like such a clusterfuck. Also there are bronies, why would you ever add ponyshit? Id never touch this game solely because of that
Evan Brown
I've never roleplayed before in any form, but I find this interesting. Is it all made up on the spot or is there a judge player who knows the real facts, waiting for the defense and the prosecutor to actually figure it out? Do people get penalized for not acting in character or is it light hearted? And how autistic is the community, are there oppressive people in charge or is it a purely 'make your own fun' kind of thing with nobody watching over you?
Noah Fisher
It's more that the act of screenshotting itself has fallen out of practice, save for stenos that screenshot for case docs, and fags that like to screenshot themselves. I personally have a lot of more recent fond cases
It is just a matter of being too lazy to update my screencap galleries. You are not seeing footage of the Yea Forums server. The Yea Forums server does not have ponies. What you are seeing is footage from a very old AO client made by russian ponyfuckers. Watching the game is boring similarly to how watching chess is boring, but this is the actual server and client: youtube.com/watch?v=VqZ_rI055Uc
>Lupa tries to turn ANOTHER DGS thread into an AO thread
Oh for fuck's sake, maybe try actually posting interesting and compelling threads that don't both reuse the same caps and lewds over and over, and actually show what can draw people in?
Nathaniel Johnson
Don't go in there, its literally shit. They ruined the entire server with abusive mods, trannies and pandering to reddit. Why do you think its playerbase went down to like 30 users? They are using screencaps from the good days, when the server was good around 2016-2017, which like 90% of the current mod team wasn't a part of. Cases aren't good anymore, and there's constant drama (usually involving trannies)
It takes like 15 or more GB of space too
Parker Peterson
I only participated in a few threads back they first started popping up. This will always be my favorite.
The AO fags literally made this thread just to shill their dying game. Just stick to /vg/
Aiden Kelly
The game was originally made by a horsefucker, but the Yea Forums server was built on a no-pony policy and the rest of the servers eventually followed suit.
Samuel Garcia
everything in this post is lies literally everything anyone can easily shit on the game by posting truths because it is far from perfect, but this user managed to somehow make a most composed 100% exclusively of lies, and that is an achievement
Eli Hughes
i started the thread and i dont mind, it was going to die anyway and i didnt know about AAO
AA:O is funny first off just for the initial ridiculousness of the casual chatrooms. It's basically all of the characters acting retarded and improving.
Actual court cases can be fun too, but you need to have a group of people that actually care and want to play. So the amount of fun it is greatly depends on the group you're playing with.
You have witnesses and evidence. The judge can really decide what's good and what's bad argument, the defense is required to come up with a valid motive and suspect, but ultimately there is no "right" answer.
Lincoln Harris
That does sound really fun, but I'd be too nervous to participate unless I knew everyone involved.
Lucas Carter
>Posting stuff from 2016-2017
Thats not how the community is anymore, its not as fun as it used to be.
Dylan Roberts
I dunno, there's like 2-3 people shilling their stupid game, sounds like a planned spam to me
Easton Gomez
Good thing there's a bunch of old cases and a bunch of people who never played them or are willing to replay them. Like I said, you need the right group of people, otherwise it's not fun.
Henry Bell
There are like two main ways to do the case, but to put it simply: some basic evidence is arranged in a google document. Players call roles, such as defense, judge, witness and so on. The witnesses will write testimony about their actions. There is no "script" to follow, they will make it up on the spot and add contradictions and lies. The defense will be in charge of pointing the lies and explaining what really happened. By the end of the case you will have a really good story of what "really" happened that was created on the go. We get it shitposter-kun, the game sucks, can you stop posting now?
Matthew Young
Yeah but the community at the moment doesn't case like they used to, so if they go in expecting that level of quality, they will be dissapointed. All the people that played back then is (mostly) gone.
Brandon Campbell
Everyone who browses Yea Forums and likes AA knows AO, retard
The playerbase of any game ever goes downhill as time goes. AO is really old and it's only natural the playerbase will decrease and eventually die out. Yea Forums has been playing it as far as 2012.
Leo Watson
Maybe for gameplay stuff add more mechanics like investigations did you know being able to actually control your character but you know make it more fleshed out ect... as for the story they def need to put the spirit medium stuff on hold for awhile at least a couple games worth with out it.
Evan Smith
You should use punctuation.
Brayden Richardson
I agree completely, it is about time CAPCOM reimagines the gameplay mechanics. I would love moving around a 3D environment while controlling high quality character models.
Adam Flores
Fuck it, it's been a while since I've cased and I've been on a DGS high, so I'm dropping a jury case doc in area 2 if anyone wants to join
Carter Williams
Also would love to play AJ in hd idk theres something about that game that I like maybe it was the last time they used sprites and art. The 3d graphics ones are fine but something about the style and graphics takes away the comfiness that the orginal trilogy, AJ, AAI 1 and 2 had.
John Turner
AJ in hd is on android, looks better than the art they redid for the trilogy
Ian Martin
has the webclient improved at all? I could hop on to be a juror, the issue is downloading 10+ G of fucking sprites and music
Liam Smith
On the shitter right now dont really give a fuck atm.
Sebastian Adams
The webclient downright does not work anymore
Connor Harris
Too bad.
Ian Morales
Now that everything's 3D, you can have AAI-style investigation segments, which I think would be better than the VN-style the games have
Owen Price
So I recently learned that Funimation did a dub of the Ace Attorney anime.
And for some reason they produced a bunch of "outtakes"
Is the anime worth a watch or is it literally just the same plot/ story as the game?
Christian Roberts
Black ones seems are traumatic experiences that the person might forgot I think not just simple big secrets. Funny because we reveaed Emma's one in the first game without magatama at all and felt more natural.
Xavier Williams
Because deep down inside Von Karma is a good person and respected Phoenix Wright a great deal. She wanted to prove herself to him and earn the right to beat him in court.
Luis Murphy
Yeah but kept somethig Maya drawed..
Blake Flores
Come on, user. If Investigations in all its mediocrity and JFA which gets by on its final case can be in good tier, then surely AJ can be in good tier by having the best first case in the series as well as a pretty solid finale.
Cooper Perez
Because it was a drawing full of emotion and meant something. If someone drew something with passion about someone you cared about, you'd keep it too.
Brandon Adams
>Last generation of Lawyers was full of vindictive schemeing assholes who literally murdered each other over nothing >Current generation of Lawyers were headed down the same path, but one man saw it and decided to change his ways >Current generation of Lawyers are professional friends and often work together to get the truth out of cases, regardless of outcome
If I consider Trials and Tribulations and Investigations 2 to be the true kino masterpieces will I like DGS? Or is it more in the vein of Dual Destinies and Apollo Justice?
Jonathan Nelson
Is there a translation patch for AAI2?
Its just something they don't know they are hiding, like its something subconcious
Jaxson Scott
DGS is fine, but it feels like every case takes forever, and it was built with its sequel in mind, so you might be left wanting for more if you can't read moon.
Christian Morgan
>Is there a translation patch for AAI2? Ages ago user.
Carter Kelly
I take more than just the quality of the cases into consideration for my rankings, and even if we only looked at just the cases:
>2-2 is good >4-1 is good, but GK2-1 is better >everything after 4-1 is garbage, including 4-4 >only AAI-1 and AAI-3 were mediocre, everything else was decent at worst
>Is there a translation patch for AAI2? Yes, it's one of the best known translation patches actually. They did a pretty remarkable job of doing localization work in vein of the official localizations, doing their own character names with puns, replacing Japanese specific references and gags with ones recognised in the west, etc.
Ian Young
DGS1 was way more like DD and AJ. In fact imo it was weaker than both of them. I heard that DGS2 was much better though. Basically DGS1 introduces plot threads part of an overarching story (like every game pretty much), but doesn't resolve them by the game's end. Also, the prosecutor/rival is awful. Zero depth or characterization or anything. The people you defend are more often annoying than not. imo, first case was really strong, last case was alright but the rest was entirely forgettable.
Your assistant (Susato) is pretty great though, she's like Maya but not retarded.
Jordan Fisher
Said prosecutor does get tons more character development in 2, his family actually directly impacts the story, but yes he could have been done better here by a great margin.
Zachary Perez
what the fuck did you just say about my nigga Layton
Henry Morales
Yeah I heard that everything is fleshed out more in DGS2 and its basically required playing wrt DGS1 if you want the whole story.
Jackson Martin
Don't forget actually recording the OBJECTION lines in english and inserting them in the game. Shit is better than many professional localizations.
Connor Powell
It's correct. You can enjoy the first game for its own little arc but the second is the fulfillment and delivery of a lot of important shit left unexplained.
Jayden Mitchell
I don't really get what you're talking about. I liked Barok a lot. He felt like a threat in the courtroom without being a complete corrupt asshole who wasn't trying to scum a guilty verdict
Hudson Morris
>along giving us a bit more mature Maya
I will never not ask for more Maya. Especially now that she's all grown up and potentially hiding a pair of Mia canons under those lose fitting robes.
Jackson Perez
Anyone else think that trilogy Edgeworth's Objection is the best voiceclip in the series
Brandon Flores
They even edited a small FMV intro clip for one of the cases, it's great.
As fan efforts go it's superb, it's up there with Mother 3.
Colton Wilson
No, that would be AJ GOTCHA!
Brody Young
It's definitely a solid voiceclip.
Conversely, who had the worst voiceclip(s)?
Liam Howard
I haven't played DGS2 but in 1 VZ was just annoying. They tried to make him interesting but that canned animation of him throwing the wine glass got boring after awhile and the "all of his accused meet untimely deaths" thing never developed into anything cool.
Josiah Ortiz
Have Nick and Maya settle down Have Edgeworth settle down with any number of the younger women that want to be prosecuted by his penis.
Fast forwards 25ish years. Have a futuristic Ace Attorney series starring Nick and Maya's kid, make their rival prosecutor Edgeworth's kid. And have cyberpunk Ace Attorney shenanigans with just a touch of supernatural. Maybe make the protagonist a girl so she has that spirit medium studf built right in, and give her a teenage boy sidekick.
The last part actually does in DGS2, hence the criticism for the incomplete plot threads.
Samuel Hill
It'd be a fanwank but you aren't introducing anything new gameplay wise (not saying I wouldn't play it). Capcom just has to think outside the box (hehehe) and come up with some good shit. Maybe if its set in the future it can have some kinda pre-crime Minority Report gimmick. Basically it needs to do something new in the investigations/courtroom/gameplay part or it'll just be like DGS.
The whole making the next set of games feature the protagonist's children thing rarely works out well. See MMBN and Golden Sun
Blake Morgan
realistically, what they should do is make a game with a brand new protagonist and a brand new set of characters that has nothing to do with the current status quo
They wrote themselves into a corner with Wright and they no longer no what to do with him anymore, Apollo is a garbage, train wreck of a character with no consistency, and Athena is superfluous and nobody asked for her to begin with.
Trying to juggle all three in one game just doesn't work, and it isn't feasible to make a game starring just one because the other two still exist, so just nuke everything and start fresh
Brody Perez
Nah, Trilogy Payne might be the best.
Caleb Green
Am I the only one who wants a Phoenix and Iris ending?
I've only played the trilogy. According to the wiki she's still alive, does she even make an appearance in any other game?
Josiah Peterson
No
William Brown
No she's not, Dahlia is dead. Iris was jailed at the end of 3.
Adam White
Wright, Edgeworth, Larry, Maya, Pearl, the Judge, Ema, and Winston Payne are the only trilogy characters that have made appearances in nu-Ace Attorney so far
I really feel like if they did a bit more stuff with 6 it could have been a satisfying capstone/end to the mainline AA games. >tfw u see the urn and the poster in kurain village again
