The main thing with Kirby's inhalation is that he has a kind of pocket universe/black hole where everything he inhales is sent to. It's why everyone says he's so laughably strong. Even a lesser version of that would be insane, and Dedede still has brute strength (with buff form) to hold his own in a standard fight. Dedede's main issue is that he's susceptible to mind control, since he seems to be possessed or acting against his will the majority of the time.
