It doesn't need to be exact. Even if not essential, a cloak in the desert will still reduce heat which is still more optimal as the amount of energy needed to properly dissipate heat would be reduced. Unless you have a reason a cloak would stop reducing heat, like say impeding ventilation it would still be worthwhile.

Considering the Varia suit can withstand the temperature of lava, the additional heat protection that a cloak gives is completely negligible. If anything, the cloak just makes Samus less aerodynamic.

Varia is literally a shit translation of barrier, because it it's literally a barrier to outside elements including heat. However resistance and immunity are not the same thing and dispite game logic the suit couldn't resist lava indefinitely as the laws of thermodynamics makes that completely impossible. Prolonged exposure to conductors would raise the heat ceiling regardless of any thing that isnt just magic, in which case, yes a cloak would still work like a cloak works in a real desert
